Microsoft also today announced that credit cards will no longer be required to create an account on Xbox Live for Xbox 360. Gamers can purchase 12-month Xbox Live subscription cards via cash or other payment methods at any participating retail store. Subscriptions will also be available for purchase by credit card in one-month, three-month and 12-month increments through the Xbox Live Dashboard.

The $20 rebate definitely helps. Any chance the headset is wireless? I would hope so since a hard drive is required for downloads and since purchasing a system w/a hard drive will include wireless controllers a wireless headset only makes sense. Or I could be completely wrong.

thanks for the info cheapy. i might pick up the 12 month sub now. The $20 rebate is going to help alot since, its going to be a while since you see a drop in prices for the games.

The headset is wired, but it's wired to your controller. So, you've still got all the wireless freedom you need.

This is the Best news I have heard on the 360. I wanted so bad to have xbox live but the damn credit card prevented me from getting it. Finally I can expierence xbox live

I think that $20 rebate is going to suck me in. Hopefully the CAG community can find something even cheaper closer to launch time... or some clearance original xbox live packages from retailers that don't realize they transfer over.

I saw the rebates a while back but paid no mind to it because you don't get a free game anymore :) , so I figured it evened out that way...plus waiting for rebates suck, as for the headset there's no way Microsoft is going to give you a One year + $20 rebate + a "Wireless" headset, besides do they even have one yet ?

I was thinking about just buying the 12 month card for $50, but I might as well get that gold pack since I'll basically be getting a headset, arcade game, and 200 points for free because of that $20 rebate.

Does anyone know how much those points are in dollars?
