I've got several 48hr trials I'll post up tonight once I get home.

Will probably buy some of the arcade games as I don't have any of them. :)

I don't think those 48 hour codes will work, but I hope they do for you guys. I know when I was using them...they gave you online play privileges, but when you looked at your card it was still Silver, and I wasn't able to download the brand new demos either. So hopefully it does, but probably not.

Can anyone confirm if the 48 hour code will work?

You may be right, if you look at the card it says:

"Xbox Live 48-hour trial allows access to online multiplayer gaming, but not to other Gold membership features."

Aw, man. I'd love to use a trial to get this deal, but I bet we won't be allowed. I have cards, but I don't want to activate one just to try it out and fail. :(

Ditto. I've been saving a few if I ever get a need for online play. I don't really want to waste them. Might have to use some of them though since I got Left for Dead coming now. If I do ever purchase a subscription again I'm just going to get a couple of 1 month cards. I just can not justify paying for a 12 month ever again. I had it for a year and the only played online for maybe a total of 2 months, shortly after Halo 3 came out and never touched online again. Except for a couple of GTAIV matches one night. I guess I need more friends.

Still even at 3am I end up finding the 12 year old who curses worst than my brother and thats a hard feat to do I tell you.

I tried getting it with the 48-hour Gold trial but to no avail. Looks like you may need to buy or use an Official Xbox Live Gold Membership card. That sucks. =(

Ok good thing this is going on until Sunday because I won't be back at my house until then.

Definitely want to hop on Rez and Catan. Too bad Carcassonne wasn't on there, I missed out when it was free.

As has been mentioned by myself and others in this thread, you could just buy them via the marketplace website and they'll download once you get home.

this needs to be put in op or thread title
u can buy off xbox.com

The 1 months give you an actual month of gold subscription. The 48 hour trials keep you on a silver membership, but give you the ability to play games online. And nothing else.

Thanks for being the guinea pig for us, man. That sucks though.

Did you read my rant I posted earlier in this thread? I'm the same way. I'm just going to buy by the month or use trials if a game comes down the pipe I want to try out. I bought a year when Gears came out and in that year I only played Gears and Halo 3 online, possibly 3 weeks total out of a year. It isn't worth it for a singleplayer gamer like me, but it would be nice to have the service FREE like the Playstation 3's...since I can try out my $60 games for free online with no worries.

Funny thing is, Live is free on the PC. People refused to pay it until Microsoft had no choice but to make it free, and refund the subscribers. Hilarious. I think that's how it should be on the 360. Have a subscription for people that want the extra deals and frills, but basic online play should be free for everyone. It only makes sense that you should be able to play your games online without unlocking that feature with another fee, I think.

Yeah but all my XBL Points cards that I haven't entered in yet are back at my house. I checked my balance and all I have left in MS points is around 200.

I got the two GoW2 premium themes for free thanks to the not-so-secret method, so I'm good on premium themes for now. Death Magnetic is a good price, but most or all of it will probably be in Guitar Hero Metallica, so I can wait. Nothing else really appeals to me...

if you want the DLC that badly, and don't mind paying full price for points, you can always add points online, too.

Well, just bought Arkadian Warriors, Golf: Tee it Up!, Catan, and Rez HD (blah, for the second time...the half-off price trick + RRoD don't play so well together). If anyone wants to play some Live on 'em, that'd be awesome.

I don't know if that's what did it, as many people probably use Live on both PC and 360. They are probably getting their butt kicked by Steam and needed to do that to keep the brand viable. The new client still isn't standalone, and isn't much of an improvement. They have a long way to go, but at least my Son's silver account is gold on PC.

Picked up

Golf: Tee It Up
Arkadian Warriors
Rez HD
Assault Heroes

Still Debating on Catan, i really liked Carcassonne, havent had a chance to really try the trial yet.

I picked up Assault Heroes and Arkadian Warriors. I skipped the premium themes, I still don't understand why I would pay to use my tv as a billboard for a game, the themes should be free.

^ LOL I get to follow that comment. :)

I just bought the Cattle Crashers theme for 180. It looks really nice and I really like the cool little friends background things. I was hesitant but gave in since the NXE destroyed my custom wallpaper. The worst theme I saw on that site with the previews was that RPG with the huge freakin game name on your screen. Who would buy that?

Also grabbed the full version of the game and loving it even though it was 1200 points. Most of us didn't pay retail for our points anyway so it's not that bad.

funny how xbl can't even keep there own codes right, I put in a code for 400ms points and it came up as 3mths of live.. ?? go figure

So I just noticed that my PC version of Shadowrun has a Free 1 Month Live Gold Trial inside of it. I read earlier in this thread that this should give me full access where the 48 hour wont. I just wanna verify this.

Also, what other games came with a 1 month? I heard that GTA4 did.

I picked up so far:

Assault Heroes 400 | 250
Brain Challenge 800 | 500
Golf: Tee It Up! 800 | 500
Crackdown – Getting Busy Bonus Pack 800 | 500

I really wish the Puzzle Quest expansion would go on sale--at 700 points it's almost as much as the full game and has also been out for quite some time. It'd be an instant purchase at 400.

Is the Crackdown content worth it?

I will be debating on Golf/Brain Challenge. I'd definitely recommend Catan and Assault Heroes.

As it turns out, I own the Rock Band content already (boo). Picked up Boogie Bunnies (liked the demo when I played it forever ago) and Arkadian Warriors. Want to get Rez and maybe Golf/Brain Challenge, but will need to wait until I'm home from the in-laws on Sunday night so I can put my Live point cards sitting around on my Xbox.

Also looking at the Crackdown content...

The crackdown content, by the description alone, sounds like a rip even at 500 points. Love the game, but I can't justify that...maybe if I completely do everything in the game and am dying for more.

Picked up Catan.

Assault Heroes for 250 is such a bargain! Great top down shooter! I also picked up Rez HD. I never got it before since I still had my PS2 version, but for 500 points, I couldn't resist.

I kind of liked the demos for Brain Challenge, Golf, and Catan, now I'm just debating if those points are better spent elsewhere since I am running low now.

I'm torn on the XBLA games on sale (other than REZ and Catan which I'm defiantly buying and Assault Heroes which I already have).

On one hand downloadable games almost never go on sale so unless any of them end up becoming Arcade Hits anytime in the near future then they are the best deal your going to get.

On the other hand , most of the other games are of questionable quality. It's easier to justify spending about $6.50 on each of these games then $10 , but are most of them still really even worth that much? Decisions , decisions....

I've been waiting on a deal on Arkadian Warriors. Boogie Bunnies on sale was a bonus. Golf/Brain Challenge I'll get for the heck of it, I figure.
I picked up assault heroes and will probably get Catan because I really like the demo.
Can't recommend Catan enough. Even after being out for 2 years, the game still ALWAYS has games online. TONS of games.

I already have every game on sale besides brain challenge (don't think I'll be getting that one) and I don't really want the DLC.

I might pick up one or two of the themes though. I'm thinking the sonic and castle crashers ones.
anyone know if microsoft will refund points if any of the sale items were purchased a week before???
All sales are always final. Which is why they warn people about downloading the same song twice (as an individual song and as a package of songs) for Rock Band.

Got Rez, Catan, and Assault Heroes.

FWIW, I bought Catan with no demo and not much knowledge of what it was beforehand. It has absolutely consumed me for over 8 hours today. Highly recommended.
