Images of an Xbox 360 keyboard controller with a small keyboard added were quickly removed after posting at GameSpot. This seems to go hand in hand with the dashboard update video shown early last week with MSN messenger functions built in.

Pictures, and also the location I shamelessly abridged this from: http://kotaku.com/gaming/xbox-360/xbox-360-keyboard-controller-coming-250606.php

Opinion: Nobody is going to buy this when a real, full featured USB keyboard works fine. (and likely will cost less, if the 120GB HD is any indication) Was anyone really asking for this? Seems that there's plenty of other problems that MS is ignoring to be wasting time on something like this. There's no way the keys are anywhere near big enough to be comfortable to use. Not to mention how much of a pain it'll be to use the normal controller with that tumor-like obstruction sticking out of the bottom.

Brings PTS disorder style memories of the Jaguar Controller back. *Shudder*

I agree that no one will buy this as there is no point. I really wish MS would just get ideazon to make a zboard for the 360 and allow people to play games with a keyboard and mouse.

I think it looks cool. Maybe if it were cheap. Of course, 360 stuff isn't cheap so, umm... I have nothing.

I pulled out a usb keyboard to type somethign on my 360 once, it was a pain. I use the qwerty keyboard on my phone quite a lot so i'm not concerned about the keyboard itself being unusable. I am however concerned about how the controller would feel with this thing attached. I'd get it if it didn't cost too much but judging by their wifi adapater and 120gb hard drive pricing, i think its going to be rape time.

It's not a fucking Keyboard Controller, it's a Keyboard ATTACHMENT that goes on the bottom of your controller.

And it looks great, good idea. Problem is I'd only use it while watching movies, and for that I'll just use a wireless RF keyboard with a USB receiver. Actually in all honesty I won't use MSN on 360 at all, for two reasons:

1. Nobody uses MSN. AIM has the monopoly (I have MSN, btw, using my own Trillian-type thing with every protocol in existance.)

2. I'd use my fucking computer if I wanted to chat.

Oops, it's an attachment. You still need to cool down, though, dude.
Nobody has said it was an attachment, cool down.

An attachment would be an improvement, however. The shots on Kotaku/Gamespot doesn't make it look like a separate keyboard piece, and you'd think MS would release mock ups of the unit by itself if that was the case.

I'm going with it being a completely new controller, because that's just been MS's style lately with absurd accessory decisions and pricing.
I got to disagree with you. To me it seems like an attachment, the way it attaches at the sides look like it is a seperate piece. The question is, how would it interface if it is an attachment. Will it work through the microphone jack? I am sure it is possible.

Kotaku themselves call it an attachment.

If it is an attachment, that's going to a top-heavy fucking controller.

Quit acting like your the most knowledgeable CAG on the planet .

If it was a $15 attachment, I'd buy it just to make invites easier

I would get one if it was reasonable. IMO reasonable for that would be $25 or less. That's just to me though..

It is neat for when you want to make a quick reply to someone.

Oh snaps!

Oh, and AIM is pretty much only big in the US. Most of Canada seems to use MSN, as does Europe. Adding MSN support to the 360 is HUGE for the overseas users who constantly get screwed out of online US-only content.

I second this. Nothing more then $15 and it would be good for quick texts.

i've always wondered what it was like to meet one of those swearing teens on xbl who love the sounds of their voices

I'll give them $10 for it tops. If I'm going to type a long live text message then I'll just fire up my laptop. If I'm going to use AIM, I'll just fire up a pc.

he will probably start calling us all homosexuals any second now

This honestly looks like it might help for less than $20. Anything more and it's really not worth it. In the long run it might save one minute of time here and there.

Old. There have been a few models of this circulating. It was thought it was going to release for PSU, but it kept fading away. If MSN integration is true, then maybe finally.

Stupid. Just plain stupid (IMO) . The darned xbox 360 (premium) package comes with a microphone, maybe they should try improving in that area before trying to add text message integration. I don't want that with my game console. I want the ability to play games and talk to people, not having to stop and type of maybe not even having the ability to play games and text chat at all. If they're going to put it in, atleast make it conveniant for a player.

And for the people that have some interest in the thing, they shouldn't have made it latch on to the controller. They should've had it synch (sp) with the xbox 360 wirelessly. The last thing it'd wand to have when playing a game is a keyboard getting in my way.

"Wireless World" eh?.

Personally I liked the wierd ps2 keyboard logitech made for FFXI. Basically a keyboard with the two sides of the controller on the ends. A bit bulky but for games that are very text-intensive, works perfectly.

Dude your are the complete successor to Dragonlordfrodo. If you dont know him look him up. He was the biggest fucking D bag ever, but everytime I read a post by you I sincerely wish you lived closed by so I could drive to your house and have sex with your sister/mom and flick you off while doing it.

You sir are a dick.

Since this is an attachment and likely to be clearanced everywhere by christmas, I'm giving it the thumbs up!

So seriously now, what's everyones prediction of the price for this thing? Like I said, personally I would pay $25 at most for this. Even that, IMO, is somewhat steep.
Sadly, I just have a feeling this will go for about $35.. :(

But wouldn't be surprised if they started a wireless controller package.. wireless controll + this for like.. $75.

I loved that KB/troller setup. Used it for two years in FFXI, even got the adapter to use it on the PC when I played the game.

In games like FFXI and some other MMOs KB makes more since then voice would. If you have never played an MMO you wouldnt understand. With that said I think this is a good thing and I hope we get a real reason to use it. As is though there is no reason.

I woudln't pay more than $10. It looks like an abomination.

I have a USB keyboard I used for FFXI on PS2, it works great on 360. If I didn't have kids, I'd just leave it hooked up. I may dig out my spare Logitech wireless setup and see if I can get it to work. The answer will be no, but I'll try anyways.

No body uses MSN? How about Me and everysingle candian friend and family member I know?

Ill buy this for 10-12 dollars, only because its wireless, and USB would take away from my 360s wirelessness and the 360 is about 7 feet away fro mteh monitor.

i just realised that pic is on Xbox.com.

but its just a concept pic, the MS headset wouldnt fit into that jack....

as for the MSN part, everyone i know uses it, and my american friends that use aim, i tell them to try MSN and most dont use aim anymore......

I think they are also trying to get people to sign up and use the MSN messenger service since "everyone doesnt use it". Me? I don't. But I wouldn't mind signing up and using it to talk to other people (like on here)

I posted it in size 7 font because I wanted to be clear it was an attachment, and not a controller. And seeing as I had just been to 5 other forums I frequent (besides this one), and four of them had "Keyboard Controller" threads, in which people were confused over whether it was an attachment or not, I thought it would be nice to at least get the fact that it is, in fact, an attachment, in on the main page, to prevent confusion.
and wtf. "No one uses MSN, but I have it."
I have MSN, and because I have it, I can tell that nobody uses it.

My friends list on my IM program: 138 AIM contacts, 24 Yahoo contacts, 21 MSN Contacts, 8 Gmail Jabber contacts

Obviously I didn't mean NOBODY litteraly. Here in America everyone uses AIM. Most of my MSN contacts are from GB.

I use MSN but I'd rather just talk to my friends when I'm gaming and text chat on a PC, I'd consider getting this attachment for redeeming codes and adding friends and such. Using that stupid virtual keyboard with a controller is a nightmare.

I'll bet this isn't gonna retail for less than $40 though, that may be too much for something I'll only use occasionally.
he will probably start calling us all homosexuals any second now

Why am I not suprised that the guy I called a homophobe for calling everything lame "gay" and saying "stop being gay" and "don't be fucking gay" has a beef with me.

I don't give a fuck if I piss homophobe assholes like you off. I'm not here to be your friend.

You have the hallmarks of a repressed homosexual. This thread has nothing to do with gays, but you just have to bring it up in a derogatory way. I've known a few people like you, and they turned out to be gay. What the fuck do you have against homosexuals, man?

"I'll buy that for a dollar!!"

Alright, maybe $10 to $15. I hate writing messages using the on-screen keyboard. I end up typing stuff on my laptop if it's anything greater than 5 words!

Kinda lame, and IMO the messanger thing is pretty useless too. I sorta wish MS would start to focus more on improving the gaming aspects of the $400 gaming console I purchased rather than trying to turn it into some kind of rediculous home entertainment computer. At least the update will bring us low power downloading.
If I can get it for $10 or under, I might consider it. Its actually a pretty good idea. It looks like a "Sidekick" keyboard.
I would love for it to be that cheap, but this is MS we're talking about (20GB HDD for $100)... I say it'll be $29.99.

I picked one of these new @ GS for $9.99 with some spare credit (no sign of the link on the Logitech site, so this was the best I could find):

http://www.amazon.com/Sony-Playstation-2-USB-Keyboard/dp/B00008OQTI

A godsend for typing in the codes on XBL cards, XBLA point cards and XBLA game cards. Even had a little sticker on the side of the box that says "Works Great For Xbox 360". Works nice for text messages on XBL as well.

The little clip-on keyboard would be nice for wireless typing, though that keyboard above was cheap and easy to deal with.

This fits in pretty well with their Live Anywhere. Most computer users don't have a mic for games, so the keyboard would make it easier to talk to PC gamers. Now if only a quality MMO will come out for 360. . .
