Xbox Live Starter Kit 53.99 Shipped from KBTOYS.COM

CAGiversary!
I don't know if this has been posted before or if there are better deals...but as far as I can see it's still approximately 70 most places...

Cheap ass link

This links you to the Xbox live starter kit, 1 year subscription, communicatior, mech assault....from the description it seems like version 3....the price is 49.99..... code KBTOYPERKS should knock off $5...I found it on some website and it said something about new customers, excludes video games yada yada but hey, it worked. It wound up 49.99 - 5 coupon plus 4.67 tax and 4.33 shipping. If anyone has a better code than $5 off let me know so I can get it even cheaper :)

Yeah I know there's always a chance KB will send the wrong version, maybe an expired 1 year card....but this is how they described it, so this is what they should send out.

Hope that others can get use out of this, and if it's a repost or I've missed something obvious then oh well.....:)

Jake

the same thing happened to me. i had to return it to my local kbtoys just to get the original money value back and then they made me call some hotline to get my shipping refunded. i think i'm done with kbtoys.

Well, they told me that I could call the number and get it exchanged for a Starter...meh, too much work, they shouldnt screw up like this in the first place

same thing happened to my friend. he just returned it at a B&M kbtoys. then he took a printout of the price off the web into circuit city, which price matches web deals, and got a starter for $50 - 10% of the difference, so maybe $48 + tax.

that's what i'm recommending to my other friends now.

This has been posted many times before, but Circuit City matching any web prices is completely YMMV. All of the CC's in NYC absoloutely do NOT match web prices....

I've been away and haven't seen what they shipped me but of course 99% they sent me the wrong thing too.....normally in a situation like this I would call up and start going crazy on the representative, and demand that they send the right item....has anyone tried this? Usually if it is completely the company's fault they would send you out the new item plus a return label for the wrong one.

I knew KB sucked when I posted it but I didn't think they'd mess up this badly, sorry everyone....but I think if you are willing to put in the extra effort (which I am) I will get the starter kit for the same price. If you want to go really hardcore and they won't at least send you return postage you can threaten to dispute the charge on your credit card....if a company sends you an incorrect item/something you did not order they are responsible for correcting it or you don't have to pay....

I did a quick check on the site, I could be wrong but it looks like stupid KB took it out of the main navigation pages but the link still works from up above.....you'd think they'd be smart enough to totally take it off....

I ordered this also but I haven't received it yet. Is there anyone who actually got the correct item, or am I definitely going to get just a 1 year subscription card?

yeah, i just had a printout of the kbtoys website page that showed the xbox live starter kit for $49.99. the page that has item description and the "order" button, or "buy me now" button.

That kind of result is 100% YMMV. It's totally at the disgression of the store manager/employees working at the time....it's definately not in their official policy at all. So it's great that it works for you, but it just won't happen at most Circuit City's.

it's worked today for me....i had called CC and they said they dont match webdeals...but i said fah kit ...i'll go in and maybe i'll get a dumbass cashier...and I did....i got it for 51.95 with CA sales tax....so if any one lives in the Bay AREA of CA...go to the CC in Daly City....in the Serramonte Mall and they will give you the price match with 10% off....Great deal...never hurts to try and it ended up working for me

I just got home and yeah, the a-holes sent me just the card. So I am going to call first thing tomorrow and demand the correct item. If they absoloutely REFUSE to give me the right item for the same price then I will make sure I get the return shipping paid, but that will only be after an argument. I have the printout and my receipt, it clearly says the starter kit. I have a feeling KB will make good on the item. If I get any BS about not even getting my return shipping paid upfront I will decline the charge from my card which is my right if I get sent something I didn't order and the seller refuses to correct it's mistake.

Just got off the phone with KBTOYS.COM. The rep, Dave, apologized for the error - he knew the issue as soon as I called. He said they are working the issue out with the warehouse, and he would call me back later today. He said that they are working to ship me the right item. I asked if that meant they would just be sending me a headset and he said he thought they would actually send me the correct Xbox live starter kit and I would NOT have to send back the 1 year card. THAT would be a pretty slick deal don't you think, starter kit plus a year service for 53.99. Whoever ran to return it ASAP, sometimes it pays to be a little patient. The item is still available from their web site so if you order now you'll probably get the correct item, now that they know about the problem. I'll post again as soon as I hear back from KB.

Shoot, I got the shaft. Got a bulk email that they apologize for the image being wrong, will refund etc. I called the same rep up and he apologized and did realize that the title, description and image were all wrong. He said the problem was that the manufacturer sent them the wrong items and they were picking by SKU so they didn't realize they were shipping the wrong item. It's gone from the site now but when it does come back in it should be at the same price, plus he's sending me a $5 certificate since I got $5 off initially. He credited my initial shipping now, and I'm going to take it back to the store for a refund. Certainly much worse than me getting the card free, but I guess that's life. I'm going to keep an eye out for the starter kit coming back online at kbtoys for the same price, hopefully it will be soon.

I wonder if I will be able to use KBTOYPERKS along with the $5 certificate (I believe that's different from a coupon) to save an extra $5.

Damn, thanks for the update jshorr. I haven't gotten even the 1 year card yet, but the $30 rebate requires that you buy the starter kit (K97-00034 or K97-00056) before 5/1/2004, so I hope they send them out fast.

Is that the rebate with the wireless adapter?
