XBOX Originals - Gen Discussion & Info - 11/17 Zapper 1200pts

I am thinking about picking up Psychonauts on December 4th when it comes out. I never had a chance to play it, and I had always heard that is was a pretty awesome game. The price is kinda steep though. 1200 points? We'll see...

Are any of you guys gonna download any of the Xbox Originals?
 
I got some points that arent doing anything...if it doesnt take up too much space then psychonauts is gonna be mine.
 
If it has achievements I may consider it since I don't own the original. If not, then I'd MUCH rather track down the original disc.

Agreed.

Think of all the headaches you go through when your console breaks and you try to play your XBLA games, I don't want those troubles with full version games as well.

No one should buy a single one of the DLs. M$ said the 360 would have full BC and failed to deliver. Instead of fulfilling their commitments they just stopped trying and are now attempting to turn their laziness into a profit opportunity. There isn't an emoticon for what I want to tell M$ to do but I'm sure everyone can figure it out.

Don't forget that there may be "glitches" with some of these downloadable titles as well.

i would if they were cheaper, maybe... and if they had some kind of free DLC with it. like a theme or something included

also would be good if they would do two or three game bundles along themes (sci-fi, platformers, party games, etc...)

also would be nice to earn discounts on marketplace items in general by spending X amount of time online... or by making other purchases

my first few DLs from marketplace were fun, but i'm over it somewhat now until they innovate something that isn't just purely designed to squeeze more points/money out of me

seems like the XBL team tends to get disconnected from the B&M world in general sometimes, imo. i.e. not considering that you can get most of these games for much cheaper in disc form as has been mentioned

Nope. I already have half of those games on disc, and if I really wanted to (which I don't), I could download the rest onto my chipped xbox for free.

Plus I just replaced my 360 with a falcon because my old one broke. Now I can't play my arcade games offline. What happens if this new 360 breaks? I would lose the digital rights to the original xbox games. No thanks.

I guarantee that none of the Xbox Originals will be non-BC titles.
 
No. At first I was going to buy them but hearing about the glitches/bugs, no Improvements and the pricing are reason I'm not going to buy them.
 
depends if it's a game that's a bitch to find or more expensive than the disc version, don't care about the first batch, but gonna check to see what's up and coming, like if they made MvC2 available for some crazy ass reason, ill be on that shit.

cant you play psychonauts on the free side of gametap? i wont be downloading any of them because i still own most of those games being released.
 
I'm looking forward to supporting Psychonauts with a buy. I've played it on the PC, but I think i'll be more fun on the 360 anyway.
 
No, for all the great reasons already mentioned.

M$ might have more luck selling these games on a site like 'dumbassgamer' than they would here.

Microsoft never promised full compatibility. In fact, they were upfront it wasn't going to be fully compatible.

And they're obviously trying to not deliver on the made up promise because they're clearly not delivering any more BC updates. I mean, its not like they released one last week. Oh wait.

Any "Xbox Original" titles will be something that is already backwards compatible. We're clearly just downloading the iso files. The glitches, bugs, screw ups in downloadable Halo are the same ones you're going to be running into when you use that physical copy of Halo sitting on your shelf.

The only way this program would work is if Microsoft bought up, stole all the physical Xbox discs in the world and throw them in a fire, forcing us to partake in this program.

Since I never felt the urge to boot up anything from my Xbox already, and the exclusions of new additions, the arcade can breathe a sigh of relief regarding my purchases.
 
You all make excellent points. When Crimson Skies can be bought on disc for like $3, that's ridiculous. I'll buy Psychonauts for the reason I mentioned (same reason I'll buy Earthbound if it ever shows up on VC), but that will likely be the only one I ever buy. Too bad a CAG boycott won't do much. I think VC prices are way too high, too. This is the bad part of a market economy -- sometimes the market is made up primarly of idiots who don't know when they're getting ripped off.
 
Nope. I didn't care much for the original X-box, played it the least of any console I've ever bought.

So no desire to rebuy any games.
 
Considering there's no enhancements and I can probably pick them up the actual discs cheaper elsewhere (I still remember getting Crimson Skies for 5 bucks not more then 6 months ago) I'm going to have to go with a big fat no.

Developer support is about the only sensible reason I can see to consider picking up any of these games.

I agree with you on the VC. The only game I have is Gunstar, cos I never had a genny back in the day and missed out on it.

The crazy thing is, if they VC games were about half the price they are now, I would literally buy a shitton of them. Nintendo actualy loses money on me by pricing the games soo high.

Your probably right. If the games were half priced, I would most likely buy more than 2 times the amount of games I currently have.

No way am I spending 1200 points on old Xbox games. I am playing Psychonauts on Gametap now with a Xbox 360 wireless controller, so I am not missing anything. Any points I have left are going toward Rock Band downloads.

This is something Ive heard echoed from alot of my friends. Saving points/money for GHIII/Rockband DLC.

Do you think its possible that DLC for those games could actually hurt sales of XBLA games?
