Xbox Slim HDD

I bought a used HDD off the gamers factory ebay store for 33. It was a fantastic deal so I'd keep an eye on their inventory.
 
I stuck my 120GB HDD from my old 360 in my slim. Then I sold the HDD shell for like $10. I hope that gives you some options.

If you want to play original xbox games then these have been known to have problems because of the lack of xbox emulation, but if you just want to install and run games those are usually fine. You can also install things to a portable usb which works for some people. I personally checked my local sears with was having a clearance of their old xbox hard drive bundles (fat xboxs) I was able to score a 60gb, which 3 months of live, and a headset for $20. Then I took apart the hard drive casing and put it into my xbox, you can buy a a casing shell designed for the slim off of amazon for about $10. Or if your local sears doesn't have the hard drive I would suggest trying to find an official one on amazon or ebay. These are better because the xbox recognizes them as official licensed by microsoft and have the emulation software and can prevent any possible issues that may occur from third party hardware. NOTE: if you buy an old fat hard drive, you will need a special set of screwdrivers to open up the casing.

Yes, the ebay HDDs are knockoffs, most likely Chinese. If you wanted to go that route, I would just get the slim HDD casing from ebay (maybe one of these) and get a decent 2.5" hard drive from newegg and put it in yourself (shouldn't be too hard to figure out), as one with a cheap Chinese hard drive already installed may not be the safest idea, data-wise.

Assuming you pay about $45-50 for the drive, you should be able to get it done for around $60 total. Good luck!

EDIT: These guys mentioned emulation issues with a non-official drive; I don't know anything about that, but it's definitely something to consider.
 
As stated before the cheaper drives are typically knockoffs. If you want to play older xbox games (assuming they didn't work originally) there are a few programs which will add the proper file extension so it will function like normal. Sometimes the creators of these drives forget to "complete" the product. 360 games will work fine.

I scored the same bundle as bfett9 and used this shell. Simple snap on and works like a charm!
 
Costco had/has great deals on the Slim HDD. I think I got my 250GB for $77 shipped a few months back. Posted it here on CAG at the time.
