Xenoblade and The Last Story in the US?
cam you play with a classic controller for this game ? ive watched some trailers im def interested in it
Yes, it's better than using the remote/nunchuck.

thx ! may have to grab this after class tomorow

Yep, in fact I busted open a Classic Controller Pro I had sitting here still sealed in a box. I have no idea where or when I got that but it was great to find a use for it.

I used the remote/nunchuck and had no problems after like 5 minutes of getting used to it.

It's bullshit that some games support the Classic Controller, but not the Gamecube controller. fuck paying for another controller.

YESSSSSSS. Beat this finally. I can't begin to explain the satisfaction. Really nice ending too. Even up until the end it had a few zingers. My GOTY so far.

Totally with you. GC support should just be standard at this point.

I also far and away preferred the wiimote/chuck for this game. Just personal preference, I suppose.

Keep in mind that the Cube controller has a few buttons less than the CC Pro. And Xenoblade uses every button so that'd be a problem. :whistle2:#

Too true. My desire for ultimate compatibility supersedes all logic :)
I need to figure out how to fight Nebulas better. I keep avoiding them since they take so long.
Are you going at 'em with Ether attacks? I tend to shift my party leader to
Melia (spoilers just in case)
and they get knocked out pretty quickly. Helps to build up the party gauge to keep a chain attack to keep in the chamber. I like toppling 'em before they can self-destruct.

I'd stay away from them until you get
Melia
on your team. She can take them down with ether attacks no problem.

The Monado Purge skill helps a bit if you don't want to be bothered to switch to the spoiler character.

I hated that they introduced those nebulas so early, especially since you don't get the appropriate character long after you first encounter them.

Well I got
Melia
pretty recently so I'll keep that in mind. I also need to raise the Affinity of my party members more, but that's becoming a bit of a grind since I don't think there's any better way to do that besides fighting together.

Also, I'm wondering what to do with
The Refugee Camp and Colony 6 at the moment. I've done everything I can except for a couple of timed quests, which can apparently only be gotten much later in the game. But if I move the Camp, I can't do those quests anymore I think.
I want to do as much as possible as well.

I really hate the menus in the game since they're not integrated into everything like the combat system/affinity systems.

What level were your characters when you beat the game? I think I'm near the end, currently at level 72.
I just re-entered the Bionis Interior
I'm really enjoying the story and not much of a completionist, so I'd rather just plow ahead to the end at this point instead of doing sidequests.

That's roughly where I am, I think there's only one more story dungeon after that, I'm really trying to get my party to 80 before I finish that though, they are currently at 74.

I finished up last night. Level 82, ~73 hours. At that level, I found the final boss to be a bit of a breeze. My party consisted of Shulk, Dunban, and Riki.

Re: coolz481's post, I was level 74 or thereabouts at that point. Worst dungeon of the game, due to its narrow platforms, large enemies, and a propensity to fall into the ether lake below. Not fun.

A few options come to mind.

1. Sell the equipment and everything will be automatically removed.
2. Equip it, then manually remove each gem.
3. When equipping gems onto a new piece of equipment, look for ones with a black E above them - that indicates they are on an item that is not currently equipped by a party member.
I'll sell them then. I thought they'd be sold too.
I had the same fears until I did it accidentally. You'll be good.

Yeah, it's nice to know. I have plenty of old equipment with 2-3 Gems each that I keep around because I'm too lazy to do it manually, but now I can get some cash back.

I've mainly been doing Quests for the past 6 hours or so (in-game) and the game just keeps getting more awesome. I still stand behind my hatred of timed quests though. But once I get the affinity up between
Sharla and Melia
I'll continue on with my quest. Also
Melia seems kind of broken. I wish she had a bit more HP though.

Yeah, she's pretty insane once you get into a groove. Some of her later arts are even more ridiculous. The AI doesn't tend to use her too well though, so for serious damage dealing and buff-stacking, she's the one to take control of.

Yeah, I'm still on it and have died several times by being knocked into the ether lake, the boss kinda kicked my ass so I'm trying to level a bit more before I take her on again.
That boss is the biggest bullfuck in the entire game. Just a poorly designed boss in otherwise amazingly well-crafted game.
You mean you didn't love forcibly being pushed into pools of acid with AI that refuses to acknowledge their own burning skin?

I gotta agree. I felt like when I put work into preparation, bosses were exciting hard, not broken hard. That was pretty much the only one that broke the rules for me.

HOLY fuck
I didn't realize you could attack with a Summoned Elemental while the middle art was grayed out. Melia is so broken.

I appreciate everyone's responses on their level for the final boss. I got to it at level 77 and can get about 50% of its health down, but then things just fall apart. I guess I just need to go back and grind a bit and/or come up with a better strategy.

Edit: Woohoo! Finished at level 82 after 93 hours, having left tons of sidequests incomplete. Will likely go back to new game plus someday, especially if the WiiU can upscale Wii games (not likely, but one can always hope!).

The extreme slowdown in a game that otherwise runs very well didn't help either. fuuuu

Well, after spending several hours doing quests, I decided to push on with the story and deal with
Prison Island
. Kind of anticlimactic after all the build up ;). I thought all my
Alcamoth
timed quests would end after that because it seemed like there was a big attack brewing that would wipe it out. But I guess that doesn't happen yet (if ever - though every quest from that place is timed so something must happen). Anyway - that's why I was trying to get all the quests done. It did leave me ridiculously overleveled when facing
Metal Face at Prison Island
. That ended up being the easiest boss fight of the game so far.

Can anyone tell me when the quests I'm talking about go away - like maybe what is the name of the area you get to just before that happens? That way I can stop at that point and go back and finish them off. I think I only have 1 or 2 left anyway.

So now it looks like The Last Story was pushed back again in America...Gamestop has a release date of 7-31-2012. WTF Nintendo.

Ok Riki is way awesome and I really didn't discover this til then end of Bionis interior, I was having a hard as frak time with that end boss, people said use Melia but she died so fast, so I basically switched her out for riki (with sharla and shulk) and we completely destroyed her. I wish I had known how awesome he was earlier, he's helping kick ass in the last dungeon as well.

Sorry dude, been confirmed that while it will play games, it will not upscale.

That's what it's been for weeks now... at least on Amazon.

1 - It never had a real release date, anything posted so far is a guess on the retailer's part
2 - XSEED's producing it, not Nintendo.

I'm fine with that considering how many games I have yet to finish (including Xenoblade).

That's my thinking, after Xenoblade I still have Skyward Sword, Disgaea 4, Tales of Graces F and FFXIII-2 to get through.

^This and that means I have a little more time to gather the funds for this. Dedicating the Last Story's current money to other events that are happening sooner.

Just beat it, took nearly 90 hours overall, was level 80 and the boss was no problem with a party of Shulk, Sharla & Riki.

If you're looking to knock out the backlog, go after FF13-2 first. That only took me about 45 hours, but Graces F was at least 80 before I finished. Both are great, although I'm partial to Final Fantasy.

Yeah, AI sucks with Melia. The later half of the game I was using Melia more than any other character because her ether attacks are so damn strong. My tactic was summon lightining, copy, then earth. Poison them with earth then slam em' with a couple lightining spells does a world of hurt.

Let my brother borrow the game. He never heard of it before. He's loving it so I'm glad to be spreading the Xeno love.

How the ass did you spend 80 hours on Graces f?

Let's see if anywhere here tops my 160+ hours on the clock for this game.

I've never been a completionist, way too many games to play, I might do a sidequest here and there, but usually it's get through the story and move on to the next game.
How the ass did you spend 80 hours on Graces f?
Going after titles. But then I got bored and moved on.

I'm just around 60 hours and I'm at Valak right now. How am I pacing it with respect to what you guys did? I've completed a great deal of sidequests and spent a long time looking for more (though I am by no means nearly done with all the earlier ones).

io, are you running through towns morning, afternoon, and night (using the advance time menu) to get quests? That's the easiest way to look for them quickly.

As far as the 60 hours at Valak goes, I think that's about right. I want to say I was mid-50's, but I skipped a lot of the smaller side quests since I was getting bored.
