Xenoblade Chronicles - Operation Rainfall Collectors Edition Box $10

Wow, this gets more stupid as time goes on.
Kinda wish I donated now so I had a reasonto keep following this, besides pure entertainment value of course.

Was there a count of how many actually gave them money? I mean why would you give these guys anything? I'd send 10 dollars to Xseed randomly before these guys. What a joke.

They took down the other page and put this up! The best part? It's written by the guy who supposedly got robbed of all of his electronics. Then, the very first comment on it is also from him saying he's sorry about the grammar errors...he typed the post on his 3DS.

Hahahaha apparently the theif that stole all of his electronics accidentally took a giant ass box of empty boxes instead of the 3DS.
Three things bother me here. First, this doesn't sound like someone who just got robbed. In fact, he doesn't even mention it. Second, this post says the boxes were left in an insecure location by UPS whereas the first post said the boxes were stolen from inside their home. And third, they're going to post more info on Monday? Sounds like they have enough time to photoshop a fake police report and get their stories straight...

I'm glad localizing games doesn't mean much to me anymore. Nintendo scammed me with Earthbound for years, so I didn't get my hopes up for anymore quality games from Nintendo.

I remember looking at this 'donation' with skepticism; glad I did.

Sorry to everyone who was hoping for a CE box, and/or localization of one of your favorite games. Nintendo sucks...And so do these cons.
I wonder how many times they will change their story?
...until they get it right dammit!

These guys tout themselves as the driving force behind the localization of big games, yet they can't even hold on to a box full of boxes.

Have they said they would still post the police report? I bet they reneged it. Police reports are public records, so you could request it from the police to make sure it exists.
You people are despicable. Belittling the plight of these tortured individuals is cruel and unnecessary. I'd like to see any of you have the courage to rob and sell such shoddily produced cardboard on Craigslist.
It turns out the person who stole all their boxes were...themselves. THEY ARE THE THIEVES!
Hey guys, just letting you all know I'm sorry for ever defending these punks.
Same here man... same here. I think these guys started out with a genuine love for the 3 games, but they ended up exploiting their fanbase.

Ever heard of the show "American Greed"? I think these guys fit the build to be on that show.

And here's your meme:

but seriously guys, how much money do you think they even got from the fans? You make it sound like they made away with

when it was probably more like

LOL @ THE CASE IS A LIE

And I don't think those clowns are set for life or anything like that but I do think they got a nice chunk of change from other people that they spent on things other than lobbying for game localization or getting boxes printed.

They requested $600 originally, but kept accepting donations after that mark was met. But based on how people pledge money on Kickstarter, I wouldn't be surprised if people kept donating and in amounts exceeding $10.

But the fact that they said they would issue refunds, which I doubt, makes me think that they probably didn't make much more than the $600 they were looking for.

This is awesome. I couldn't be happier with the outcome tbh. Anyone who gave them a penny deserved to stolen from and lied to.

Yea, no. I didn't give them a penny, so i'm good. No need to get your blood pressure up, I just enjoy watching dumbs get taken advantage of.

They received a shipment of goods that wasn't insured?

These kids are dumber than I initially gave them credit for (which wasn't much).

Right, and when you do something stupid and get taken advantage of and others point and laugh and say how stupid you were, then that will be karma raping you in the ass.

I'm not sure what you're obsession is with homesexual imagery, but feel free to continue throwing a fit over this. I'm simply voicing my opinion.

how long has it been already since they got "robbed?" i think there should be a countdown until everyone starts to realize that they just got scammed.

It's pretty ingenious actually, raise money for a genuine cause, promise a physical incentive for people who "donated," not paid $10 and if they decide to say "fuck it, mission failed" and bail then there really isnt anyone to hold accountable.

WHy use that money to do something that they really can't accomplish, when they can just bank it and offer refunds to only a select few?

Maybe that 3ds was purchased using the donations, who knows. but this is wat happens when u donate to something without any structure in place

This is the thread that keeps on giving! :D Oh goodness, my sides... I can hardly believe what I'm reading.

I honestly can't stand these guys anymore. Their going around raging at the people they've robbed trying to defend them selves. Refund peoples money and move on.

If people were smart they'd dispute the charge and say Operation rainfall is a scam. Unless you can't do that with kickstarter.
http://operationrainfall.com/read-regarding-the-donation-cases/#disqus_thread

Running under the assumption that these folks are still being honest, I'm a little confused about the chain of events here. I've asked for a bit of clarification on things. Hopefully, they'll be forthcoming - but reading the reply of someone like Zyzxx on there doesn't really instill a lot of confidence...
I just read what you wrote and I also share the same questions you have..

I'm going to throw out some possibilities:
1. These guys are innocent. Despite the fact that their story just does not add up and make absolutely no sense as of now.. Maybe it was a misunderstanding. The first update wasn't written by the victim of the burglary so story may have gotten mixed up..

2. The burglars robbed the apt and took the packages. Or they were robbed and got their packages stolen on a different time on a same day. Despite them saying they had the boxes in possession in the first update, now they never had the chance to even see the boxes/cases. The UPS delivers the package to a house that was empty. No one was home to receive such an important package. UPS did not require a signature or anything and just left the packages and left. I really have hard time believing the package of such value didn't require any signatures or anything. Unless the UPS man was excused by the home owner to just leave the packages outside (which is an incredibly irresponsible).

3. The boxes being stolen and it has absolutely nothing to do with the burglary. The burglary actually might have happened. But its possible that it had nothing to do with the boxes being stolen. They have absolutely no reason to bring up UPS after saying that the boxes (which they said they had the possession of in the first update) were stolen in the process of getting robbed. In this case, police report would be irrelevant.

"IF" this was all a lie. I doubt the purpose was to scam people from the start. I seriously doubt the profit would have been that high for people to risk lying about. Plus, if they had the cases delivered to them, why would they steal to keep the cases for themselves? It has zero to no value now. I think things just got out of control for these guys to handle. They didn't want to go through the trouble of telling everyone that they were incapable of fulfilling their initial promise(?).

I really want some clarifications but I'm afraid they are going to treat me like a devil if I post in their page lol..
why not ask for an invoice or receipt to show the boxes were printed? Is that too easy?
Well.. its easy if one thought they were scamming for money from the start.. I personally don't think so.

Operation Rainfall should be renamed Operation Dumbfuck. I bet they lost the list of people who "donated" or something else unorganized and asstarded. They've been trying to get out of delivering these cases for months now, with story after changed story.

I just don't like how the story keeps changing and they remove the previous one. It's changed like 3 times now and it seems more than likely that they received a legal threat from someone. The legal argument on the site actually has merit. Nothing about the story makes sense either. They went from being stolen with a police report, to not stolen in one post, then to stolen again but UPS left them at the door. Maybe since they promised a police report that didn't list them, they had to make up another story. Or they lied to the police.

They are backpeddling way too much. The only recourse they have is to refund people or make the cases. Either way, people don't trust them now which is the real issue. The donations were in hand months ago. They should have created the cases right away since it was part of the deal. It wasn't like a kickstarter with goals. They should have had a page with a complete breakdown of donation amounts and how the money was being spent like a ledger. Being upfront should have been no problem since they claimed to get just enough to promote. This was all made worse since they kept making excuses on the cases for months. It's not that hard to get cases made once you have art. The box art wasn't even very good.

If I was a volunteer on that site, I would get away from it. At this point, the site needs to vanish. Anybody with any sense will not want to be remotely connected to it.

They still have a donate button on the site which is really funny.

It's pretty hilarious that they changed the story from a guy's apartment being robbed of a fortune in electronics and the boxes to a new story about the boxes being stolen from the front door upon delivery. Yeah, nobody's going to notice that little change...

Anyone who's still trying to defend these scammers at this point is trying too hard.

Who started this website anyway? Does anyone know who these people are?

I always assumed they were confirmed legit and reliable by someone for people to actually send these strangers money. Otherwise, it is no different than giving your money to some random Russian guy on craigs list who says he can get you a 70 inch LED TV for $300.

This thread is such a piece of shit. Every single person still discussing this are A)trolls and B)didn't donate. This needs to be locked.

That said, although I'm pretty pissed about not getting the box if there are some lulz to be had out of their lying/weaseling then I view my $10 as well spent anyway.

Look, it's okay. I know why you're REALLY mad... I saw these back in the April posts:

LOL to the people who think this isn't worth it...good luck paying eBay scalper prices later.
I'm betting that it'll be worth some coin a few years down the line

...and then in July:
I highly doubt that they will try to scam the donation amount

As I said: trolls. I notice you didn't quote my subsequent posts calling them liars and saying I wasn't expecting the shipment to ever arrive. I'm just sick of all the armchair quarterback douchebaggery that goes on here.
