Xenogears on PSN on Tuesday! BUY BUY BUY!
Did you just hear that?

That was the collective groan of collectors and those who paid up the ass for it.
Like music to my ears. I hate collectors ::cough:: I mean hoarders.
Eh...I paid ticket price for it back in whenever it came out. Still tempted to own a digital copy to.
Same (Well, asked for it for Chanukah.), but I want a PSP capable version.

It came out in 1998, BTW.

What movie is your sig from?

Also, I traded my black label Xenogears to someone on the board for PS3 Aquanaut's Holiday: Hidden Memories. (Korean/English)

I was starting to regret getting rid of Xenogears, but now its a non-issue. Take my money Sony, you win this round. Well played.

bad day to be broke, i swear to god on thursday i will own this, i havent played this since right after it came out have been wanting to again for years but wasnt paying 50-70 for a 12 year old game

Hm... it seems like whatever PS1 game I decide to play or replay gets released on the PSN. It happened with Parasite Eve, Grandia, and now Xenogears.

I'll probably buy it simply because it was such an awesome game (and still is) and deserves recognition. After playing it a second time, I really wish they would have finished the other episodes in the game.

I know it had freezing issues on the Ps2, but does it have freezing issues on the Ps3? I have the original ps1 version, but I might buy this PSN release if the game has freezing issues on the ps3. (It's part of my backlog, which is why I haven't played it)

i still have my original copy from 98, i used to play it once a year. sigh, good times. maybe one day my copy will be worth $400 on ebay

I didn't have any issues, but there are a few minor glitches I faced:
-Your characters are unable to jump for roughly a second before a random battle starts... this might not sound like a big deal but can get annoying during the platforming sections.
-Sometimes I would try to go though to the next section but the game wouldn't recognize it and I'd just have to step back a bit and try again.
-There's minor pauses when you try to access or exit the menu.

But I think they fix these kinds of issues when the bring games over to the PSN.
Imma grab a copy!

Wait.. since when was Parasite Eve released on the PSN?
I probably shouldn't have said that as it's in Japan only.

This game is fucking awesome and one of the best games ever. If you like JRPGs and haven't played this, buy it immediately once it's on the store. Same with Grandia (it's already been up for a while). I haven't bought them on PSN but that's because I still have my copies. I've replayed both recently and they are both still amazing.

I'm sure PE will get released on the US store eventually. fuck Xenogears was on the Japanese store for what, 3 years, before they brought it over here?

You'd be doing yourself an extreme disservice by not picking this up if you're a fan of the genre. After all these years it is still one of my all time favorite RPGs. Truly ageless. I remember begging my parents to buy it for me on a whim for about $40 used at an EB when we were vacationing, haha. Little did I know they had just made one of the smartest impulse buys ever.
But what do I do now that I dont have the loading sound to inform me of me incoming random encounter?
Lol, keep an eye on the flashing HDD light on the front of the PS3.

if anybody is interested, shoot me a PM

edit: I just realized there is just enough for a PS3 mini. I'm leaning on "A Space Shooter for 2 Bucks", but it's up to you guys to decide

I promise to buy this tomorrow. And I have been looking hard for a copy recently. All I need now is Suikoden II, that is the holy grail of expensive PS One games.

Never played this one; will probably pick it up, but I wish they would have given it the HD treatment or at least the Ys treatment.

Haha, I remember willingly paying $65 on eBay for a sealed non-GH copy of Xenogears back in 2002 or so when I was thinking about getting caught up in the Xenosaga hype. The game was absolutely worth every penny, and during the 85 or so hours I played it, I enjoyed every minute. (Well, ok, a couple of the boss battles were brutally difficult, but ultimately satisfying after strategizing) I've always wanted to play through it again a second time, and now I have a good reason, even though it will cost me a bit more. :p

Also, obligatory Mitsuda is GOD of music, etc. Xenogears and Chrono Trigger/Cross constantly battle for #2 on my list of favorite game OST's behind FFVI.

Suikoden looks pretty lonely up on the PSOne Classics by itself. Konami should take notice...

This also means since this was rated by the ESRB back in January, we can expect Vagrant Story, Threads of Fate, and Legend of Mana as well in the near future.
Vagrant Story would be sooooo clutch!!! I loved the art style and battle system.
Vagrant Story was awesome... if that gets released on the PSN, I'm buying that too. But man, I remember spending hours on that game's deep as hell weapon/armor leveling system.

Awesome ^_^ Been waiting on this since they announced it back in December. Heh, remember buying this game on a whim when I was in 6th grade back in '98. I feel old ;_;

Oooh goody, can't wait to sit through the com... pletely... slow... as ... all ... hell... scrolling... text...

Such a deep game.... like so deep whoaa.

Three games I really really want digitally. Now they just need to add Vandal Hearts to that list.

Yeah, it would be nice to get Vagrant Story and Chrono Cross on the PSN...

So put your money where your mouth is and buy Xenogears! That's what's gonna convince Square to release these games!

No it's not. Pretty much every Square game they've re-released on PSN so far has sold like crazy, and they still take their time putting the things out.

Never played this one or Grandia for that matter (even though I own Grandia 2 for the DC). I think I will pick them both up and try playing them on the PSP (never tried that before), I think they would be excellent titles to play during my trip to PAX East. :)

As much as I remember Xenogears being a great game, I don't think I can spend the 10 bucks on it. I doubt i'd even run through it and beat it again(and I remember the last boss being such a PITA) that out of all my guys Citan landed the killing blow on the verge of death. That and I hate the city where Rico is. Slums make me depressed :|

I never got into Vagrant Story, I did a quick flip on it as I found the battle system to be cumbersum(swap weapons etc to build them up). Still waiting on Suikoden 2 though =)

but the music in rico's slum town/prison was great wasnt it?

I'm still on the fence whether to buy this game or not. I got it in the cart and all I can keep thinking is 80+ Hour game, no trophy support. And then I turned into a gremlin.

Good post :bouncy::bouncy::bouncy::bouncy::bouncy::bouncy::bouncy::bouncy::bouncy:

I don't care about trophy support. I did beat the game in roughly 50-60 hours as I recall(long time though). Probably part of the reason it was so tough.

If you haven't ever played it, its recommended you do, I do miss disc 2 as it let you sit back and watch/delve more into the story(2nd half of the game).

Xenogears on my PSP Go for pick up and play wherever is all it took for me to buy.

"You're not your job. You're not how much money you have in the bank. You're not the car you drive. You're not the contents of your wallet. You're not your fucking trophy count."

:)

I still have my original PS1 copy and never finished it. For some reason it just wasn't interesting enough. Forget where I stopped but it was before the second disc.
