XM Shock Jocks Opie and Anthony engage in discussion about forced sex with Condi Rice

It's a different thing entirely from Imus. The Imus incident was clearly racist. This segment is spent talking about forced sex on Rice, Laura Bush, and the Queen of England. While sickening and appalling, race is irrelevant here (unless there's something in the segment prior to the clip you linked that would suggest it is).

Truth be told, that's the first time I've heard Opie and Anthony. Sounds like a gym locker room or a bar conversation. Not funny, surely not clever, and nauseatingly misogynist. Should they be fired? I'm not one to say, and I didn't think Imus deserved firing in the first place.

Important point - this was on paid satellite radio - if you don't like it, then you're free to voice your opinion the American way - with your wallet.

Now if Condi herself says that this constitutes a physical threat, then that's a legal grey area IMO.

And why do Opie and Anthony get their names in the thread title, when "Homeless Charlie" is the one doing all the riffing?

Do they deserve to be fired? Uh...no, since this is the kind of humor that got them on XM to begin with, as competition against Stern.
Boy, I bet you're a real hit at said bars and locker rooms.
You seem to have forgotten why you were temp-banned.
You seem to have forgotten why you were temp-banned.
Sensitive, much? And if my memory serves me correctly, it was for playfully riffing with Mr. Penguin, more specifically, dropping a Simpsons reference, in the SOTM thread. Didn't know those weren't allowed.

Not in the slightest. I'm merely tired of your "playful banter" showing up in every thread. You may *think* you're being cute or funny, but you're truthfully an obnoxious threadcrapping troll who lords over every conversation, directing it towards whatever non-topic subject you deem appropriate.

That said, it wasn't SneakyPenguin who reported you in that thread, and it won't be him reporting you for this one as well.

I added my opinion on the matter, so it's hardly "threadcrapping". And I'll be sure to change my ways, as it's obvious you know everything there is to know about all forms of humor, be it harmless message board responses, or satellite radio shows.

Now please, let's get back on topic sir. Stop hijacking this thread and turning it into another non-topic subject based on me!

Like I said before, this is pretty much a non-story, since the "humor" in question is the what got Opie and Anthony hired to begin with.

Now, VG *did* make a valid point at the last moment, that this is the kind of stuff that O&A are known for. I've said I've never heard them before, but if they're on XM and not over the air, I'm sure it's true.

Of course, that isn't the point of the outrage around this scandal. It's a weak political stunt to create a phony racist scandal out of O&A; one that is politically convenient for the right, since Condoleeza Rice is one of their own. In the end, since Al Sharpton will have nothing to say about this nonstory, they will use his silence to reinforce that he is selective about those "oppressed peoples" he defends, and that it's indicative of his political bias and convenience.

Of course, since the article does not mention, at all, that Laura Bush and Queen Elizabeth II are given about as much "attention" timewise by "Homeless Charlie," that more or less nullifies any racial angle that could be had, and also exposes the bias of those "reporting" this incident. They could have at least cut off the audio at around 20 seconds in order to make it seem more legit. ;)

Keep in mind though that Imus was not fired specifically because of what he said but because sponsors started pulling out. It's always about the money.

I don't care for Opie and Anthony that much, but they have some good guests so I download the show. A little blip of info about them, is they do both XM radio as well as terestrial radio (ie free fm radio). In the middle of the first half of their set, they literally walk down the street to their XM studio, because their contract (well old contract I guess) wouldn't allow them to share the same studio, but allowed them to be on both networks.

Anyways, I wonder if all this Condi Rice talk happened while on the Free FM /Clear Channel / whatever it is, FM radio, where FCC has a crapload of weight to pull around on mess with people (they did enough to get Howard Stern to quit, befere the Sirius thing even came up I remember Stern was going to quit).

Either way, in the end, everyone should just listen to The Adam Carolla show.
