HEY D00DZ I JUS GOT A 25 DOLLAR GIFT CaRD FOR USING MY CREDIT CARD TO GET POINTS ITS fucking CRAZY!!!1111

YMMV THO!
Is it really free though? Don't they charge you interest?
not if you don't leave a carrying balance on the credit card
but credit cards are the root of all evil and will leave you with a life time worth of debt
Blaming the credit cards for the debt is like someone blaming a gun for a murder. It is the person's fault. It's their lack of knowledge about how they work and when to use and not to use credit. It's really nice to have that emergency credit card around when something goes wrong on my car.

I think they were being sarcastic

how would you do that? just sign up and never use it? anyone know if its pre aproved?

If you pay off your bill in full every month you will not get interest charged but if you carry any balance over past the due date you will, lets say you charge 100 and pay off 99 dollars you'll start getting interest charged.

On the sarcasm part, I've heard it many times when it wasn't. I used to work customer service for a credit card company (glad I don't anymore) and I've heard way too many people blame the cards and not themselves (oh, it's the cards fault you took a two week vacation and charged $5000 and now you can't pay it back).

no interest for 6 months on the amazon card.

I don't think it's good for your credit score to just get the free stuff then never use a card. get a card, use it for a while, then cancel it eventually. even if you have the money and just use it and pay it off immediately.

either that or don't bitch when you can't get a house later on ;)

Yes, I have one credit card and I use it for big purchases that I have the money for anyway. That way I can pay it off, and I figure it'll help my credit score since I have none at the moment.

Part of your credit score is based on the age of your accounts. So if you keep the card with the plan of canceling it eventually, the longer you wait the more it will ding your credit when you cancel it. Once you have the card, assuming it doesn't have any monthly/annual fees, you may as well keep it. The longer you keep it the more it will increase your credit score. Of course there is always the chance the issuer may cancel it for lack of use and that may not look good on your credit because it may show as cancelled by creditor.
wow....a LOT of you need to look up how credit really works

also you can get the same $30 off deal at buy.com
so using a card for the free offer, then tossing it out or canceling it isn't bad?
