I went to gamestop yesterday (in NJ) and instead of a paper slip I got an edge card with Gamestop and EBgames logos on it. It has an account number and a pin so it looks like it could most likely be used online (which is sweet). It seems as if I could use it at either Gamestop and EB and also add to it via trade-ins through either store which is nice. I was using strictly gamestop for trade-ins but now I have more stores acessible if need be. GOOD RIDDANCE TO PAPER SLIPS!

It can be used at either GS or EB. I do not think it can be used online currently.

And /cheer to the end of paper credits!

Yeah, I got one of these two days ago after I had money left over from trading in games. I hardly ever trade in, so paper slips have never been a problem. It does sound retarded that you would have to have a piece of paper to redeem money.

Not to mention the paper slips seem to use disappearing ink on them--it's like you have to put them in a UV-protected mylar sleeve or something to keep them from fading. I hope this gets implemented at the GSes in my area...

Just wondering did you try? Yeah being that they are new it may not work. Now I'm wondering if I could bring my old paper slips (have a few still) to a gamestop to be added to the card.

Ah I see why the online won't work...I was thinking of the old ebgames site and how it used to work with the edge card but now the checkout for both sites is the gamestop checkout. Hopefully they will implement the use of the cards online at some point.

I think they have been doing this for a couple years but you used to have to ask. I've been using them for probably two years now. They are definetly much better than the receipts. Just make sure it has accurate credit on it, I got screwed over once when a employee but 69.xx instead of 109.xx on it on a trade in 3 for 10 deal (didn't get my bonuses). I did get it worked out though, the guys at the novi EBX are great.

I had my one local EB switch all the blasted paper slips I had from Gamestop stores over to an EB card I had with about $30ish in credit on it. But, I've been buying stuff(n getting buyers remorse n taking it back LOL), so its down from $120 or so to $95 something now. LOL I haven't been buying MUCH though.

I know really. I've want local GSs to start using cards already. Darn them for still using paper.

I don't think the credit is transferrable to the card. I was at two different Gamestops tonight, and they both said they couldn't do it.

There are some EB stores out there, prmononoke, who are trained on both systems and know how to do a transfer. In my case, they had to make it look like I bought a copy of Dead Rising, plus some PS2 remote and a protection plan for all of it. The one guy was an assistant manager, so he was able to void out the PRP thing and get me that $2-3 back too.

It felt good walking out of there without all those slips with the disappearing ink on them.
Yep, all stores should now be on the new POS update that issues Edge Cards that are co-branded.
I saw the box o' new cards at an EB today. Do you know if they will be useable online soon? If so, would I need to switch my credit from an old Edge card to one of the new ones, or will they take the old Edge card (with pin) as before?

I went to an EB the other day with some newbie employees - they thought my Edge card with the scratched off (ie, exposed) PIN number meant it was void or invalid. I had to explain to them what the hell it was. So maybe nothing is happening soon with the PINs .

They haven't said anything yet... hopefully something is going to come up soon though. I'll try to remember it and mention it to the DM here and see if he knows anything about it.

I have about 5 paper slips right now. If I bought something with them, could I return it for credit on my card? Being stuck with these slips stinks. It limits my shopping to GS only.

Ever since my first slip started getting disappearing ink syndrome, I've kept the slips in my drawer instead of my wallet - the ink doesn't rub off anymore.

Good...those paper slips sucked. I'm sure my Gamestop will be a month or so behind in implementing this. It will be nice to share EB/GS credit as I trade in at both locations when they have trade-in deals and I've got multiples of the same game.
