I would think the dvd part will. the hd part will not.

17 HD DVDs for $71.xx. I may need to invest in another player now though incase mine craps out. I'm up to about 70 HD DVDs because of all these sales! Since these are the same size as regular discs, in the distant future would software allow these to be played on a Blu Ray player or something? (in case my HD DVD player craps out)..

3.99 and free shipping. UH OH! I'm thinking it's time to pick up some movies.

Hypocritical of me to go in The Wire thread bitching about my auto repair bill forcing me to pass on the set and then coming in here announcing I'm about to buy a grip of HDDVDs.
IM ON IT!
Good work, deputy!

I'm only up to 25 dollars in movies. That's even after I'm buying a movie that's slightly cheaper to return to Fry's since I spent more there. I'm just out of stuff to buy at Inet. But I really want the movies I do have in my cart!

I would not count on that at all. Why would they add a feature to play old movies when they could eventually get you to re-buy it on Blu.

I would say buy a separate player if your worried.

Is there any way to see what shipping would cost without going all the way through checkout? Also didn't a lot of people order from this a while ago and get the french versions of the movie? Or was that somewhere else?

damn, just bought top gun on amazon for $10 w/ shipping two days ago. oh well, not much else i want to get on HD-DVD anymore, got Corpse Bride too.

In the distant future I can definitely see a PC super-duper drive being able to read them. Every CD-sized disc drive has always been backwards compatible up until now.

I would bet my entire HD-DVD collection on it...all zero of them :)

I already own a "PC super-duper drive" that can play both HD-DVDs and Blu-Rays. It cost $150

I know they have drives that play both, but they have two lasers inside of them that it switches between... the guy was asking if a software upgrade would happen to make his player now all of a sudden play both...

It's also supposed to be 15% off shipping of orders over $25, so if you can't find enough for free shipping, that's something at least.

Yeah, wound up about 7 bucks a pop after shipping was factored in for me, had 4 of the 5.99 ones and one 3.99 one. Not too bad.

Funny, I keep thinking I have everything I'd want to buy on this format, but once you knock the prices down to 4-6 bucks, I find myself willing to give films a try that I normally wouldn't bother with. At that price it's pretty hard to lose unless the movie is just totally awful and the picture quality blows in comparison to other HD discs.

I'm the same way about these hd-dvds, I placed a big order with inet then an even bigger one with mountain view movies a few hours later. In somecases it was justifiable for me as they were combos, and I can sell off the standard DVDs, with the exceptions of my Army of Darkness 2d and criterion Dazed and Confused

My average cost per movie was around 5.35. I'd spend more buying movies out of the bargain bin at walmart and these are high def. Got a stand alone a3 and 360 add on, plus I have backup players for each.

*sigh*

Finally found enough stuff to get free shipping so I finally placed an order

Not bad, less than $110 for 10 HDDVDS & 4 BRs. This is my first time doing business with them, so hopefully they're reliable

All 17 of my HD DVDs arrived yesterday! None of them had the french writing on them either, the only sign that they are Canadian is the rating on the back has the leaf on it. I am very pleased!

nice catch... my collection is close to 100 now.

if you player ever stops working, you would need a combo HDDVD/BluRay player for playing both. get one now before they stop making them.

thx OP, just picked up 13 more that I wouldn't have done on this format, except they are cheaper than picking up SD DVD's in most cases.... :bouncy:

My latest 10 should arrive monday... will put me one 140 hd-dvds... before all these really good sales, my blu-ray collection had just overtaken the HD-dvds... now I have about 50 more HD-dvds
