Yet More Craigslist Stupidity!

This was my title:


ORIGINAL XBOX, like new, barely played, 17 games...14 of them SEaled $80


I really didn't play the thing, my brother won it in some raffle at work and I traded him a Sony Surround System for it, back in 2006. That didn't stop me from buying games for it. Countless idiots e-mailing and calling me to hold it, and they'll be right over........EEEDIOTS!

I ended up keeping the damn thing
 
Yeah I too have ended up keeping some stuff I was trying to sell before, I hate when people waste your fucking time and say "oh oh hold this for me please i want it i want it" then you give them the address and they don't show up, and people asking stupid questions in the email and you never hear from them again. I started putting my phone number only in the ads (no email link), and only the somewhat 'normal' people called. You get the most idiots when you use email. Waiting.....waiting.....waiting...WTF!!! If you're not interested in buying my item anymore, have the balls to tell me. I can live with that. I could be doing other things then sitting around waiting for you to show up and buy something. Don't schedule a time to meet up and then dissapear.

Sometimes, the money just isn't worth all the hassle and hoops you gotta go through. I only use craigslist as a sort of last-resort for older stuff now, I always browse it hoping for a deal to pop up, but i'm not holding my breath.


Another thing, I see people mentioning "this goes for up to $$$xx on ebay, so i'm selling it for $$x."

Thats all fine and dandy bucko, but you shouldn't expect to get ebay prices on craigslist. Everyone looks for deals and only that. Yes, supply and demand I know.

If you find some sucker, good job. (I have before). But don't count on getting premium prices either.
 
I almost sold an unopened Commodore 64C for $100 today. I put my location as Fairfax, because well, that is where I live. Guy emails me and offers $50. Not a chance. So he says okay $100 is doable tell me where you live so I can see if it is worth the drive. So I give him my address. Apparently the Fairfax in my address was further than the Fairfax I put in the listing because he decided I lived too far away to pick it up.

(Besides this obviously being a scam ad, considering the ridiculously low price)...hmmm, well he does say "picture is included below", so maybe he's including a printout of the pic with the sale, after you send your cash he'll send you a couple of pics of what you thought you were getting...

I was given a ton of Wii stuff as a gift, but have no interest in video games and want to sell it. The console box was opened, set up and MAYBE played once. Some of the other items were opened, but again, I don't think they were ever played. I don't get it. Why are they "shitheads" for trying to sell a game? They are welcome to name any price they want. Just because those games are "available" at a store, doesn't mean it is easy to find or that everyone knows it is on sale.

Take a look at Wii Sports, a goddamn pack-in game which fetches $40. Are the people fulfilling this obvious demand "shitheads"?

First, they aren't shitheads for trying to sell a game, they're shitheads for obscenely overcharging for a game, when said game is currently on sale for 33-45% less than what they are asking. They obviously picked up copies via the gamestop gamedays sale (dates of postings coincide with the start of the sale) with the intent of flipping them to unsuspecting shmucks, certainly it's their prerogative but it's not very cool. And they're stupid for thinking no one would know what they were trying to pull.

It's a blatant flip with the intent of trying to rip someone off. Wii Sports is a bit of a different animal due to the supply and demand factor, because while there are multiple brand new copies of Valkyria Chronicles available at all (or almost all) gamestop locations, hence it is readily available to the general public, there are extremely few copies of Wii Sports out in circulation for actual sale. Only 5 or 6 of well over a 100 Gamestop stores within 100 miles of me have a copy in stock, and of those, most are disc only scratched as fuck copies. Hell, I've even put up a couple of posts on craigslist notifying people which exact locations have those copies, just so that someone would take them off the market.

They are welcome to name any price indeed, just as we are welcome to call them out on their craigslist stupidity, which, if you might have noticed, is the topic subject of this thread. Craigslist Stupidity. Do you get it now?

I see no problem with a thread which solely exists to mock "stupid" sellers. However, sending harassing emails and maliciously flagging is crossing the line.

Ahhh, but that's not what you originally brought up with me - you did in fact have a problem with my classification of those particular "stupid" sellers.

As for the other incidents you mention, I have never sent the sellers I've posted here harassing emails, that's a separate discussion. As far as maliciously flagging goes, if you're referring to the craigsflagger site/tool, I would only use that on notorious spammers, and since it didn't work very well I haven't bothered with it any further.

Never mind the misspellings and grammatical mistakes, I just LOVE that 'garantee'. Forget using amazon, he can just give out any ebay ID he wants 'at transaction', doesn't mean it will actually be his real one.
 
PS 2 slim w/original box, manuals,cords, 2 controllers, vertical stand, memory card and games (16). Games are Madden 02'-07' (6), Madden 09', Fight night 04', ATV offroad fury, Need for Speed underground2 and most wanted, Splinter Cell chaos theory, NCAA 06' march madness, NBA Live 06', Arena Football and Blitz the league. May have 2 more, I purchased a PS3 bundle via Ebay but seller sent unit/games in seperate packages and have not gotten games yet (not happy). The TV is a 36 inch Toshiba tube (yes its HEAVY), w/ remote (lost battery cover). Does have a scratch in middle of screen (between moves) about the size of a dime. The last time I got one the prick said something like "I want to buy the item as a birthday gift for my son in west africa, and I want to pay for the item by cashiers check $5000 dollars and send the difference back".

Needless to say, I told him to fuck off and to tell his other scam buddies to beat it, and since then I haven't gotten anymore emails from those guys.

Guess they realized I'm not stupid enough to fall for it.
 
I just got this crazy thought. It's not fully original, but hear me out.

I'm not very happy to see that there are numerous jackasses trying to push copied games, ROMs, and other asshattery on craigslist. I read an earlier post about craigslist user posting new ads with lower prices in order to screw with exorbitant DSi prices. Anyone think that a similar situation would work with these nimrods?

Let's say someone posts a new ad with the fucker's e-mail address or phone number and change an important detail about the quality of the games...oh like being complete and original copies instead of bootlegs? Any suggestions?

They've been changing their methods in order to fool people who have been trained not to trust these kind of letters. Just remember that if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

I email him back, asking where he got need for speed for $60, and he said "best buy had them on sale when it first came out, so I didn't have to pay the $80 for it". He then said that the bidding was up to $275, but for $280 I could have it. I said it was a bit too high..

LOL, what a nutcase. $60 "on sale" for NFS??? Shit, I wish I still had my copy I got included with the DS Phat I bought for $10, I would have given this guy a "steal" of a deal by selling the game alone to him for $30 or 40.

When they don't list the games for anything, it's usually a sign that they're all garbage games.

How much does R2 and L4D worth now? I've been trying to sell mine for $ 40 (with the guide) and $ 35 respectively but nobody bites. Someone offer $ 60 for both, should I bite?

$60 would be more than you would get trading them in. I don't think an offer of $60 for them both is too bad.

I got a steal for you a xbox that is modded from japan it has every system and everygame for that system on the hard drive. Nes, Snes, Sega, Nin 64, Neo-Geo, hard to find games like Marvel vs capcom and legend of zelda for nes its all there and not to mention 20,000 arcade games on it. Also it has a dvd-burner put on it.
