Yet More Craigslist Stupidity!

Here's something you don't see every day ...

An excerpt:

Hey there!

I am a 22 year old college senior looking to borrow someone's xbox 360 or ps3 for a week so I can get a healthy dose of videogames in my videogamesless life. The games you have are irrelevant. I would show your my (clean and orderly) house and we could sign a contract as to assure you I wouldn't skip town to Alaska or anything with your goods! I have a lot of things to offer, so make me a proposition involving goods, labor, favors, or any other weird thing you think of. Let's make a deal! Email me with your proposition and I'll send you my phone number. Thanks!

Why is it that whenever people list system bundles they say how many games they have but don't say the names of the fucking games!

Its so annoying emailing 20 people a day for this hoping for rares.

Because people want you to ASK them about their stuff, not just cherry pick the 'good stuff' and leave the rest of the dreck? I've done that too(the not listing every game). I've also said specifically 'AS A LOT' in some of my game ads before and people still ask specifically for those games which are harder to find/rare and then try to offer me $5 for each of them on top of it. It's insulting when you're trying to sell stuff combined together and people don't understand how to fuckin' read or think you'll break up stuff JUST for them.

People can't read or be bothered to ask about what I have for sale, that's not my problem.

Yes, asking if a person would possibly be interested in selling something individually and not wanting to spend a ton of money is so horrible.

And I just happen to have a couple boxes of video games and dvd I've been looking to give away.

- books
- cds
- vhs/dvd/blu-ray discs
- video games
- video game systems

If you have any of these, and are willing to part with them without compensation, I would be truly grateful! Please reply to this ad.

I should message him and send him to some place public and not show up. With my luck it will some how back fire.

See, that's the same type of bullshit and attitude that the reselling assholes who responded to my Craigslist ad gave me. They obviously couldn't read or figured I would just go 'duhhhhhh:drool: sure George, I'll sell ya the better games for a pittance and leave the rest of my games to rot' and they would turn around and Ebay them for 3-10x what they paid me and the only person who would be happy would be THEM.

They flagged down my massive sale posts each time, even though I had sweetened the pot further by adding both a PS2(50001 model) and an Xbox with numerous controllers to that ad. Why? Because they were pissed I didn't stupidly break up my game collection to suit them. fuck them is all I will say.

I posted the game collection here on CAG soon after the third or fourth flagging on CL, received a bunch of the same 'offers' to break up my collection and FINALLY, someone was serious and said 'I'll take the whole shebang off you, but can you do it for that price SHIPPED?'.

I thought about it overnight, then said 'what the hell', since I wanted them gone, so I shipped it all off for $450 total.

I'm STILL thankful to Nemesis98 to this day for being the only NORMAL person on the net to not go 'gimme the rare shit and keep the garbage games'. They stepped up and proved to me that there are some good people left out on the net, but you gotta look past a whole shitload of Ebay assholes/profiteers to find them.

LOL That WAS my calm response. Believe me, it would've been MORE laced with F bombs if I were riled up. I just got so annoyed by all of the people who scoffed because I wouldn't break up my games for them and the people on here who wanna be sarcastic about what I did.

Either way, I'm still happy cause I sold the lot for what I wanted just about, but it still irks me at how many people buy peoples games for a pittance and then resell them and gloat about how much they ripped off the sellers(in a roundabout way).

That makes absolutely no sense. That's like having a store filled with boxes that say "stuff" on the front and expecting your customers to ask someone that works there to open each box to see what is inside. It's just a waste of everyone's time.

Actually, I think many(including myself) may have done that to kind of deter those looking for ONLY the 'rare' and hard to find games and actually have to have everyone 'work' for the rest of the info.

Plus, sometimes you just go 'I'm sick of typing' and figure that people will ASK if they're interested.

I mean, e-mails don't take more than like a minute or two to send off most times.

How will somebody know if their interested if they don't even know what your selling? That' s probrably why you get pestered by so many resellers. They are pretty much the only ones who are going to work to find out basic info like that. People with a passing or general interest in games aren't going to bother. I know I wouldn't just out of principle.

I also don't get how sending a list through a bunch of emails saves any time versus just posting it once and getting it over with. I sell games and stuff on Craiglist from time to time and I never have the problems you mention in your posts. I just make my post as clear as possible with all the info I would want to know if I was interested in buying. You get less pointless questions and more solid leads that way.

I don't know, but I know when I posted my entire game collection, people only wanted to pick through it even though I said 'take all or get lost' basically. I mean, that was why I started only listing SOME games, since all I got were resellers trying to grab for the 'good' games.

While this is not game related(and 'she' is probably a porn bot) check out this personals ad from my local CL:

im looking for my best friend

Life is what you make it ...so let"s make it fun! Fun for me comes in a variety of ways. Being outdoors, hanging with friends, watching movies, eating a good meal, talking about dreams and aspirations, sitting still, etc. I think chemistry is important and physical attraction is different for everyone. I'm 5'2, full figured. I have 3 kids, 18, 17 & 13 that are the joy of my life.
Feel free to leave a note.

A Little Bit Of Mystery

Here's the kicker though, the age is listed as 27, but she has kids 17 and 18? Figure that one out.
Though there are some really bad deals on there sometimes, I love Craigslist. I once got a DS lite for $50!
Check out the craigslist finds thread. I'm about to post my pics of the Super Famicom set I got, and I'm currently working on a deal that may be spectacular (or pure crap). I will report on it once I meet with the person later today.

My area seem to be full of resellers so i set up an add that showed a NES and 3 common games plus stadium events and asked $200. Today I got tons of E-mails saying I am charging to much.
I really can't tell if this is stupidity or not, but I wonder why the hell the guy is putting it up for sale. If he won't bring the price down, why make an ad on craigslist for it? It's really not that bad of a deal, but I just don't get it.

http://atlanta.craigslist.org/tag/705905205.html

He also has a similar ad for a PS2 silver system.
Its actually a women. Anyways, she probably doesn't want to deal with the bullshit of lowballers. She wants it to be known that she is firm on the price.

I put my Wii and a couple games on Craigslist awhile ago and said best offer. I wasn't looking to make a lot of money but rather break even. I had one guys offer $50.

My one local shop had a DS fat for $35. Only thing really wrong with it was it had the infamous cracked/broken hinge that I think was supposedly a common defect among them.

If I knew I could've had Nintendo repair it for free like someone else on CAG said they managed to get done(the serial # sticker was worn down/worn off), I would've snapped it up in a second for something to have to play when I'm on the road to an auction.

My brother and I were looking through the personals the other day to get a good laugh. We came to the conclusion that the age listed was the age they were looking for, and not the actual age of the listee. Considering that there were multiple "moms with kids" 25 and under, it seems like a logical conclusion.
