Yet More Craigslist Stupidity!

This is by all means off topic, but it does deal with stupidity. I sold Star Wars Rebellion on Amazon last week. It's a RTS that was released in 1997. The page has the release date, and the operating system (Win 95/98) Here's what the buyer sent to me this morning:

"I want to return this for a full refund. It is too old. It is advertised as if it is a current game but it is vintage Win95 and should not be sold as if it was a current product."

I'm flabbergasted. Flamboozled even. My description only described that it came in the original jewel case, with a beat up manual and scratched disc, but that it worked. And plus for... people... like these, they can check the product page for release date info.

This is amazon. If he wants a refund he will get it

Yeah, this guy is a 'tard and he will get his refund. I'm going to draw it out, though. He sent another email
"I guess Amazon is really to blame for making this game look like a new one. Some are selling it for over $100. I read about the game and then ordered it from you because of price. I do see your point so I am willing to pay the postage to return it for a refund. "

I told him, "You do realize games are collectible in some instances right? That 100.00, whoever is charging that, doesn't even represent the original game's MSRP." Then he said, "Give me information on refunding this please."

 People on Amazon are idiots. Seriously, they give me so much shit I'm thinking about switching back to Ebay soley. One guy left me a neg that said, "fafd" and ignored all my emails. Just fucking around and wanted to leave me a negative for no reason.

EDIT: Take a load of this douche. I told him it'd be unfair for me to lose the money I spent to ship him the game if I gave him a full refund and he says, "I am returning the game to you by US mail and only expect a refund of $16.40
I agree that you should not have to lose shipping charges. Amazon and you should have more of a warning on very old games. "

I told him, "MADDEN 09 WAS ACTUALLY MADE IN 2008 IF YOU WANT THE LATEST GAME BUY MADDEN 10" If you bring Madden 09 up to the counter, no one is going to explain to you, out of the blue, that you're buying an older version of Madden. In fact, if the concept of selling an old video game was that confusing to you, all you had to do was send a message prior to your purchase asking me if I was really selling an old game and I would have clarified that fact for you.

If you truly agreed you made a mistake, you would not be expecting me to process a refund where I lose money. I'll make this simple. I will not accept this return. You failed as a consumer when you blindly purchased something and expected someone else to account for your error."

Sorry to keep talking about this. But this guy is unreal.

EDIT #2: This guy opened up a A-Z gurantee claim under "Item not as described" and his comment was "This reseller does not belong on Amazon." WOW.

If I were you, I would have taken the return and refunded him his purchase - your shipping cost. It sucks, but that is the way it goes sometimes.

Here is the current info about returns on software:
Software is a unique product category and has some specific guidelines. If your item is sold in new condition and has been opened, you can refuse to accept the return unless it is defective. If sold as Used/Open and not materially different or defective, you can also refuse to accept the return. If the item is materially different, a return should be accepted if it is sent back in its original condition and postmarked within 30 days of shipment.

Good luck dealing with the A-Z guarantee.

Wow man...fuck that guy. What a total knob. Because he cant read, you somehow described the item incorrectly? I seriously feel bad for you in this scenario, and am also a little outraged myself. I guess I've been there one too many times myself, so I know exactly what you're dealing with.

Dumb mouthbreathers need to get off the internet and buy stuff from brick and mortar stores. That way they can have an employee hold their hand throughout their entire buying experience.

It sounds like I can refuse the refund then, right? I'll have to live with the negative, but it's better than giving this tool want he wants. Also, it's notable that he said "YES" under the "Item as described" column when he left the negative feedback, yet opened a claim under the "Item not as described" column. And not only that, but was extremely vague in his claim. So hopefully his laziness and contradiction will help me in this aspect.

Thanks for listening everybody, we can go back to talking about Craigslist douches. :D

Man, Friend of Sonic, I feel for you and have been there. I've had 3 or 4 returns from amazon, one asshole left me a negative without trying to contact me because the Pokemon game I sold him "wasn't complete", despite my first words in the description being CART ONLY.

Some of these buyers on amazon are so fucking retarded, it's amazing they're actually able to get online. But then again, I've sold $100 cart only copies of Earthbound, a $125 Super Mario Bros. 3 complete and all mint, all sorts of vastly overinflated stuff. Then I end up getting these idiots complaining about $5-10 cart only NES, Gameboy, SNES games etc.

Reminds me of one of my very FEW negatives on ebay (1040 and counting)... was it the Earthbound that I sold in MINT condition and glued back together? Was it the Nintendo 64 console that WASN'T cleaned and tested? Was it even the Mario Kart 64 that I forgot to send for two weeks? No... it was the Lost in Space game that sold for
$.01
that the buyer said was only in good condition, but admitted it played excellently. Go figure!!!!

I'll agree with you here. And Friend of Sonic...I buy stuff off of Amazon all the time. I always look at the feedback the other buyers put up...and man...while some of it is legit, alot of people put negative feedback for the stupidest things. For example, I've bought alot of open stock, used/returned items from an Amazon discount seller, who clearly states on all his items that they are used, items from returns that still work, with complete, accurate descriptions of why the items were returned, what parts are damaged etc. But people still neg the buyer, because they don't take the time to read the item description, I always see on feedback complaints about "I didn't know the item was used." Other times I've seen buyers rate the seller down just because the game they purchased and played wasn't really fun, or they didnt like the content. WTF does the fun factor and content of a game itself have to do with the seller?

I too am constantly scratching my head, wondering how these people manage to get online with a credit card in the first place.

Sadly, I haven't been able to find any stupid craigslist posts myself, but I get a kick out of checking this thread every so often, so I'll bump it to the top. Thanks to all the posters for keeping me entertained.

On an eBay related note, some dude is trying to get me to ship my phone to "his cousin" in Nigeria. Right. I told him to send the PayPal payment (he offered $700 when I only asked $575) as a "gift," just to see if he'd do it. I'd never actually send anything, but I'm interested in seeing whether or not he'd actually send the payment (if he sends it as a gift, then he can't file a claim saying he never received anything). I'm assuming it's either a stolen credit card, or he's just going to send some spoof PayPal e-mail. Or maybe he just won't respond.

Last 80 gig Ps3 - $800 (Lancaster)

This system is discontinued as of now.
This Ps3 was the last model with chrome, and the picture card slots on the front.
Can't find these anywhere else.
I would include the console, controller, all the hook ups, Haze game and Batman Arkham Asylum.
Shoot me some offers, this won't last long.
I will even include the original box and hdmi cable/

Man I am tired of this spammer...he always puts out lists of vintage games, usually 95% will be sports games and then he will throw in some extremely rare and hard to find game, like an SNES list with nothing but sports games and then Chrono Trigger, then you go down there and "oh I sold it..."

Total bait and switch. Plus he's spamming the boards with his commercial ads, which are against the TOS.

So if you want to lend a helping hand, by all means flag some or all of these ads:

Xbox 360 Elite Package AUCTION starting at $5 - $5 (mountain view)

Date: 2009-11-17, 3:41PM PST
Reply to: [email protected] [Errors when replying to ads?]

So I tried selling my Xbox 360 on here and it failed, so this time I am going to try something a little bit more entertaining.

I'm having an auction for my Xbox 360 Elite, 120 GB Black, which includes a modem cable, AVS cord, power cord, wireless controller w/ batteries, headset, wireless connection and Madden 2010.

Now you know what I am offering, heres the rules. This will be an email/phone auction. I will start the bidding at $5, and everytime I recieve a bid I will email all bidders all the bids made up until the point of the end of the auction. Only cash bids can be made (lowest amount to bid on top is $5, so the next bid should be $10, on so on and so forth) and NO TRADES. Bidding begins at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday November 17 and will end at 3:30 p.m. Thursday November 19.

Below are a few pictures of my Xbox.

Feel free to place a bid in at [email protected] or by phone at 650-xxx-xxx. Please give me your name and email address so I can have you on my bidder's list and you can check if you are in the lead or behind in the top bids. Good luck and I hope to sell this Xbox package from 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Call or email at anytime and dont be afraid to leave a message if I do not pick-up my phone.

Finding a buyer on craigslist that won't completely waste your time with false inquiries for no reason at all is like looking for a needle in a haystack.

Well, not to derail this thread again, but I checked my A-Z claims section and saw this happy little bit: "You are not responsible for this claim or its reimbursement"

Then...
I saw the status that said "Granted". Then my heart sank a little bit. I can't believe that doofus is getting money back and getting to keep his game that's "old, too old." I almost wish I did the return just so he didn't wind up with a free game... sometimes Amazon is too good to their customers.

Hahhahaa. His site, "Sellcom.com" is the worst looking piece of shit ever. Best yet, he runs his own "Chat with an operator now!" feature on the site. I'm talking with him right now. Or at least I think I am. First he sounded scripted. Then he asked who I was. Which would be weird for a bot to ask. So it must be him.

EDIT: He said, "This is your legal notice scum! Do not contact me again! I have your IP!" I told him I'm going to run a WHOIS on him. Now who's cool.

OH NOES HE HAS YOUR IP HE MAY H4X0R YOU NOW.

Seriously what the fuck good is an ip going to do him. That would only be used to track the person who is "harrassing" him, but he already has your fucking address from the Amazon and the return address on the package... I wish darwin would work faster on some people.

I had forgotten how funny this thread is...

Here's one that doesn't fall under general asking-an-insane-amount-for-stuff fun, but it's pretty funny.

"Sweet. I'll post some pics of my kids' Gamecube and....ah, what the hell--might as well post the W-2 from work."

LOL at all the banned systems. I put this up on Vegas' CL as more of a troll attempt than anything:

Man, F*** Microsoft. Banning people just because they want to download free games. WTF?!? If they didn't want people to download the games, they wouldn't have the torrents up on Internet Explorer, AMIRITE?!??!!?!?

It's probably someone looking to buy one, trying to drive the price down.
Yup, LOL. If he's going to do that, he should go for broke and say they're $99.99 retail everywhere...
There's a bootlegger in Culver City who's now selling "120 blu rays", errr, at least a transfer of them to an external drive you need to bring...

If you've got a second, please by all means flag some of these off...

BRING A 2TB EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE FOR THE TRANSFER
$100.00 FOR THE COLLECTION
I saw that one when I was looking...

Up for sale is a Samsung Blu-Ray player purchased in mid 2008 from Best Buy for $400.00 that has barely been used. Multiple resolution formats ranging from 480-1080p. This player was used with Monster HDMI cable for video and Monster RCA cables for audio using the Multi Channel ports. Included is the remote and an HDMI cable (not Monster). Original box and manual not included. Feel free to contact me at [email protected].

Right

I'm betting that every single one of the high def movie ads in Culver City are his, including all of the HD DVDs for sale. Probably ripped them and is dumping all he can:
