Yet More Craigslist Stupidity!
That doesn't make it any less stupid.
Whatever. I'd argue that it would be MORE stupid to ask far less than the market value just because it's MJ cassettte tapes

Since when does one auction decide what market value is? But even if it actually is worth that much, $100 is stupid for cassette tapes. It's almost as stupid as someone paying $50 to "name a star".

(I'm no longer calling the seller stupid for the outrageous asking price; I just think it's stupid for anyone to think these are so valuable.)

It may seem stupid, but I know at least one MJ fan that would pay that much if she were the collecting type.

As far as one auction deciding the market value, do you have any listings showing that people in general think they are worth less?

Why would I? I've already professed how stupid I think it is; I'm certainly not going to scour the internet for an accurate estimation of its worth. I don't need to "win" this disagreement.
http://jacksontn.craigslist.org/vgd/2981580806.html
Yep I will just call you at your invisible number.
WTF do they even mean in regards to price in that ad? Are they asking $49 each, or both?

"brand new rise of nightmares kinect game, in great working cond. brand new resident evil operation raccoon city, the new release. both cost over . together. . each or . for both. cash only. u pick up. please call anytime. no e-mails due to spam. Thanks!"
Looks like his number keys broke after typing the title.
At the very least, the 1 key still works. But yes, he is "clearly" saying that these games are worth a certain value and he wants one price for each game or a different price for both...but without the convenience of numbers.

You could say the same thing about Earthbound, couldn't you? But yet, people still pay $100+ for a piece of plastic with a circuit board inside.

Too true. You can find a collector of just about anything. In this case, Michael Jackson has no shortage of fan(atic)s. I remember a couple of years back when he passed away, I immediately dug out whatever related crap I could find that my siblings and I had from our childhood related to him and sold it on ebay and craigslist for CRAZY amounts of money. I'm talking vintage posters, tapes, LPs etc. and the I was getting domestic and international buyers as well as locals paying ridiculously absurd amounts. $100 a piece for those "We Are the World" posters.

Then when AEG and the family put out the tribute movie and had the concert tour running, I was selling the LA Times obit and tribute to Michael Jackson newspapers for $40-50 a pop.

lmao why would anyone have this in their sig? It's idiocracy I tell ya.

 At first I thought you meant the price, which I was gonna say wasn't too bad. But then I noticed that the game is propped up on what it appears to be someones' bare lap and there's another person sitting/laying next to them in the same way.:whistle2:s

Is it just me or is that another foot off to the left in the picture too?

That's the person on the left's hand. I'm just wondering what was going on right before this picture was taken.

I feel dirty.
What the fuck is going on here?!

Is it really that shocking or confusing? its just a girl sitting on a couch or something with a footrest obviously in some short shorts or underwear. The game is on her bare legs (the upper legs, more precisely), not over her crotch. Judging by the legs, it looks to be another female next to her in a similar clothing situation, with that person's right hand in the lower left of the picture. Could be the guy selling the game though if he happens to have slender legs. Girls wear really short shorts and stuff like that all the time, especially once the sun comes out. Also, the low and miscolored socks are another "female" dress staple. The guy (whether or not he's in the picture) probably asked the girl to take a picture of his game on her camera/phone, so she did, and just decided to do it right where she was sitting instead of trying to put it in a neutral backdrop.

Your detailed examination has been filed under obvious. Now back to imagining what weird shit is going down in that creepy slave dungeon.
Your detailed examination has been filed under obvious. Now back to imagining what weird shit is going down in that creepy slave dungeon.
Yeah because its obviously so creepy seeing how you can't see anything around them because there isn't anything else in the shot besides legs, a couch, and the game. That's like wondering if someone's been raped and murdered if people take pictures of their item on their bed or towels - WHAT'S GOING ON OUT OF THE SHOT? Why isn't the item just on a desk or table? Why don't they show me the WHOLE bed? Because they haven't moved the dead raped body yet? Oh let me throw in a fucking expletive too at the shock of not knowing what else could be outside the bounds of the framed photograph. I mean shit, its not like people sit and watch TV or movies in low lighting or with the lights off, so that's not even a reasonable assumption of what could be going on.

 Well, aren't you Mr. Life of the Party tonight? I just thought it was an odd shot to post when you're trying to sell a video game. That is all.

I really don't get why the picture is weird just because the game is on someone's legs. Are you guys ashamed of your legs?
You could say the same thing about Earthbound, couldn't you? But yet, people still pay $100+ for a piece of plastic with a circuit board inside.
I do say the same thing about Earthbound. I think it's worth more than a couple of tapes because it is a lengthier, more-involved experience and not a collection of previously-released material that can be purchased separately for much less money...but I still wouldn't pay $100 for it or any other game.
 There's quite a few pics on my local CL that are just plain wrong.:whistle2:# Let's leave it at that.
Yea right 'leave it at that,' post one up! As long as its funny or something we can speculate about lol. The Prototype 2 pic is clearly 'to catch a predator' bait lol.

Nintendo Gamecube Collector's Set - $200 (NW Denver)

NOTE: This is an "Or best offer" listing.

If you are just looking to "have a Gamecube" then this listing is not for you. This listing is for a particular edition of the Gamecube, that being the "Indigo" model. The "Indigo" was featured prominently in early advertising for the Gamecube, but was actually manufactured in far smaller supply than the later Platinum version. Making it more rare and more valuable than other models.

The Gamecube console came with 1 controller and zero memory cards. I am offering the console with 2 controllers, 2 memory cards, and 3 games. The second controller is also an "Indigo." When people are selling off Original Indigo controllers, they will often mention that the item is "genuine" or "authentic". These terms are not used to describe controllers that are white, black, or platinum, because those colors do not have any collector's value anyway. The Indigo controller often sells for more than 5x as much as a standard black controller. Buying a brand new Indigo controller normally costs $50-70, whereas you can get a black one for 10 bucks. These controllers are also compatible with the Nintendo Wii. So if you already have a Wii and could use extra controllers, then these will serve double-duty for you.

The 3 games are Madden NFL Football, Star Wars Rogue Leader, and Super Smash Bros Melee. The last game is arguably the most popular title produced for the Gamecube, and retailers still sell it new for $60+

A new Indigo Gamecube Console would run you $180-$200 by itself anyway, so with this deal, you are essentially getting the 2nd controller, 2 memory cards and 3 games for free, because ALL of the items were barely used and are in tremendous condition. Everything works just as well as the day it came out of the box. All 3 games are in their original boxes, and contain the instruction manuals (which are also in like-new condition).

I also have a Used Playstation 2 (with a wireless controller and a couple of games) that I would sell for around $50.

Thanks for looking!
I'd offer 40-50 at most...I'm so disgusted at the dishonesty I feel like emailing him/her with an offer of 50.

Ok yes new a few people are selling those NEW (keyword) for like $300-$400 (doesn't meant they'll sell) but his is used isn't it?

00R5I.png

$25 bucks for his used one. Plus everything else yeah $50 is all that's worth.

So he's using some ass backwards logic there, that because something sells new for x his used console is worth the same, but as you can see that's not at all the case.

Feel free to send him that if you want.
Another fellow CAG living in Charlotte ;)
did you hear about the new game store opening in July near UNCC
Yep, North Charlotte to be precise. Nope, I haven't heard about the game store, I would imagine I will once it opens though.

What do you do whem someone won't respond to your emails? Someone has this great deal up on game cube stuff and its been reposted twice but they never answer my emails and they didn't leave another way to contact them.

Well unless they posted their phone # there's nothing you can do about it.

This is not craigslist stupidity but there's no pawn shop stupidity thread. The pawn shop closest to my house, which USUALLY has great deals on consoles (PS2 slims or fats $20, white Xbox 360s $70) had two N64's that they were selling for $100 each. I just can't even believe how stupid that is.
