YMMV / LOTR Limited Edition Box Set $19.96 @ Wal-Mart

At the Wal-Mart in Livermore CA I got this box set for only $19.96, I was pretty shocked at how cheap it is. There are two versions of the movie on each DVD (double sided disc), the theatrical and extended version, both of which are widescreen. By far the best movie deal I've ever seen especially because it's Limited Edition.

And yes, this is ALL THREE MOVIES.:bouncy:

I can confirm this price (unfortunately my local Walmart was out of stock). It seems this is the new regular price for the set at Walmart (it is shelved with a bunch of other $19.96 movie boxsets in the DVD section).

Yup I saw that here at a local Wal-Mart. If these movies aren't coming out in Hi Def anytime soon, I thing I'll have to pick up one.

They will probably be out on Blu Ray sometime in the next 2 years. Since the recent New Line announcment for Blu Ray exclusivity.

I bought it last week, and me too, am such a nerd, I have the three theatrical DVD's, the Extended set with the box to hold all three, now the limited release with the little box to hold them. But hey, they are great movies! ;)

They aren't out in Hi-Def? Weird. They were on TNT HD around Christmas. LOTS 2 and 3 were the first two movies I ever saw on my new Samsung. Holy hell was I amazed watching LOTR in HD.

That is strange, I'd imagine it'd be one of the first blu-ray/hd-dvd movies out on the market when those formats first appeared in stores. But I have to say the non-hd version is still incredible high quality, it feels like HD on my HDTV.

Um... no -_-V

New Line has been reserved releasing movies on hi def.. but the ones that have been released have had some of the best pq/aq ever.

Itll be a year or two before we get LOTR -_-

Just because somethings on high def channels like tnt, doesnt mean its on hi def.. like law and order..

Yeah I know, it was more of a personal expectation. I just thought the quality of the movie was so high that people would rush to put it in HD. But like I said, personal expectation haha.

I was considering getting this but like a month ago I got the "Platinum Series Special Extended Edition" versions which I paid $9.99 each for at CC. I still might get this though... I can't get enough of LOTR... I can't wait for The Hobbit!

I have checked at my Walmart 3-4 times the past few weeks. Every single time there is an empty spot where this title should be. I hope it is not discontinued. But if so, you think they would put something there instead of an empty spot for weeks. I would love to find this set for $20, but who knows if they will ever order more.

It seems Walmart has discontinued this item (at least mine has). That is why they priced it so insanely cheap, to get rid of the remaining inventory.

I figured that may have been their objective, but it was a good find while it lasted.
