I dunno if YMMV on this or what, but I was down at EB today talking to a friend that works there (well, technically they're all friends of mine since I used to work there.. whatever), and he told me that when GTA comes out, it'll be a "block party". He said all EB's are doing this.. on Monday, when people that preorder get the game, the employees will have the GTA shirts (nothing new).. but they'll be wearing do rags (however you spell it) and will be playing (censored) west coast rap throughout the store. I can't wait. I'm so bringing a camera. This is going to be hilarious.

I wonder what they'll be doing with those San Andreas t-shirts after the sale....

Also, does anyone understand what the bonus item that comes with San Andreas at EB is? It's a loyalty card to The Four Dragons Hotel & Casino. But unlike actual comp cards you would get at a casino, this one doesn't appear to be worth anything or do anything useful.

Was that supposed to be funny? Or am I just stoned?

It's probably a place from the game.

The San Andreas shirts will probably be kept by the employees. You could always go and ask, though. I just took home a Mortal Kombat: Deception HUGE Scorpion display just by asking. I doubt any employee will give up the shirt, though. It just says San Andreas on the front in the gangsta font and a Rockstar logo on the back. I'm going to ask if they have any extras.. I remember we had extras for True Crime, but they were actually for preorders. My brother might give me his (GTA: SA shirt).. that would be cool.

Really? I never would have guessed it only says it in the fucking OP

slightly off topic, but why do video game shirts always suck so much?

the shirt you got when pre-ordering tekken 3...now THAT was a shirt

It could be both.

I think it's because most of them insist on having the game's title in HUGE LETTERS on the front and/or back of the shirt. That's a pretty good recipe for lame-ness right there.

are you actually excited about this?
I will be no where near that store for any reason short of them giving every game away free.
I bet this was one of those"what should we do to attract more urban customers?" "oh ive got an idea"

I had the night of the Vice City launch off, but I was there to pick up my copy. All my co-workers were wearing 80s threads, it was great.

I cant wait for anti-defimation people to show up anc complain about how they're encourageing poor stereotypes.

now THAT will be hilarious!

Video game shirts, much like pro wrestling shirts, have a tendency to implicitly scream "I AM NOT MEANT TO REPRODUCE!!!"

I have some FF shirt, and a Showdown:LoW shirt (the video game shirt meets the pro wrestling shirt in double jeopardy!), but I will not be caught dead even sleeping in those things.

I can't comment on the Tekken 3 shirt, though.

myke.
and what does halo 2 have to do with anything?
I only want to point out that your sig amakes me want to listen to 'TSOL are sissies"

mullets with the headbands and a midnight opening is what it would take me to cancel my Gamestop pre-order

ROFLMAO. I might put that in my sig.

at gamestop we are wearing street clothes and having a 9:15-midnight opening (from what my assistant manger told me).

**** off

They're not do rags, but rather bandanas. Unfortunately, being an EB employee, I have to participate in this.

When I asked my manager about this, she just said to wear the shirt and have the bandana somewhere on me. I'll probably just put it on my arm, or some crap like that.

Honestly, I think it's a horrible idea. It won't encourage any sales, but rather will turn people off from asking us for help. I, for one, would rather talk to someone who looks half-way professional, and would avoid any employee wearing a bandana and t-shirt.

About the t-shirts: if you're buying something, particularly GTA, it wouldn't hurt to ask if they have any extra t-shirts. We're normally given an egregious amount, and are more than happy to give them away to paying customers.

EDIT: I haven't heard anything about rap music. Most of the time my manager doesn't care if we have the EBTV tape playing. With that in mind, after several hours of rap music, I'm sure she won't hesistate to turn it off herself.

the shirt you got when pre-ordering tekken 3...now THAT was a shirt
Man, that reminds me of the shirt GameStop was giving away with Street Fighter: AC. That thing was ugly as hell... just a black shirt, whith a bunch of tiny, muddy-looking screenshots from the game lined up in a row about 3/4 of the way down the shirt. Absolutely hideous. Good thing I'm just getting the XBOX version anyway, so no loss there whatsoever. It's a shame too, 'cause I've been waiting forever to find a good SF shirt.

And then of course there was the puke-green Metroid shirt and that garish "Mario Plumbing" one from CC.

However, I gotta say, I love the one they gave away with Mega Man Anniversary Collection (white "I beat the 8 Master Robots" shirt with black trim). That one managed to secure my pre-order. Heck of a nice giveaway, especially considering it was only a $30 game (and a shirt like that would run you at least $18 at a place like Hot Topic).
