You know how we always put GAMEFAQS down?

CAGiversary!
Well, I check it out from time to time and they have their poll of the day: http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/index.html

For those that can't see it, it is asking who do you live with? At the time of this posting, 24308 out of 37754 live...you guessed it, with their parents...no wonder they have topics like omg halo roxorz...

Just thought my fellow CAG's would be interested...and also, I am not making fun of anyone that lives with their parents, but come on, two thirds?
Yes, yes you are.
"Haha, you're 12 and live with your mom" wasn't the point of his post, as far as I can tell ;)

It was more "Haha, your site is populated by 12 year olds"

not too shocking...

I wonder what gets shredded apart faster-- a guy posting a pro-PSP post in the DS forum or a cow thrown in a river inhabited by pirhana....

I make fun of people who live with their parents. Get out from under Mama's wing and carve your own path. If you're not in school... or injured, there is no reason to live with your parents for more than a month.

not everyone who lives with their parents leech from their parents. i'm 27 and i live with my folks but i own the house, the cars they drive, and pay all the bills. the only thing my parents provide for me is food because my paycheck can only go for so much...

I still live with my parents(Grandparents actually) but I'm only 17 and I really don't play games that much anymore to be honest :/ I guess I fit into the category of ppl who are still, by social standars, permissable to live at home but I like to think I'm a bit more mature than the little halo kiddies...it does fookin roxxorz tho.......

Its quite common in other cultures to continue living with the family for quite a long time. But in that instance, you're generally supporting or helping, not just leeching.

"I agree with deacon, you are way too old to post here >_>"

fucking kids.

I agree. By the time you are 20 years old if you are not actively trying to move out of your parents house you are a loser in my book. Even if its an apartmeny around the corner from your mom and dads place.

Its cool to live if your parents if and are going to school but even then only for a little while. You know how hard it will be to go from 0 to 1000000 mph when you get out of college? Go from nothing to paying every bill and feeding yourself?

Its called grow some balls and work hard. Get 2 jobs if ya have to..it wont kill ya.

This is certainly true in Japan....and it leads them to do anything their parents tell them to like DUMP ME ON fuckING X-MAS DAY WHEN THE ONLY REASON I STAYED IN JAPAN FOR THE HOLIDAYS WAS TO BE WITH YOU YOU HEARTLESS BITCH!

.......er......

Yeah, if you're 18+ you should at least TRY to live on your own...

I think the ignorant and arrogant way people like you think is retarted, some of people have responsibilities to loved ones and still need to provide for the house hold and take care of stuff.

For example: some people in this world don't like to pay child support for a child they barely/never get to see. it's the same idea, if you have a responsibility to something/someone at the house you have lived in for you life and taken from the parents who need you, then why should you let some loser like you talk shit about how they live thier life? what makes you and your point of view so much better than someone else's who you have no recollection about?

This is why I hate so many people and just have the want to punch people in thier heads and ask questions after they get out of the hospital... and I am not in agreement that that is sad too, but it's been awhile since I punched someone in the head for something really dumb, but today it could be you ;)

So... back on topic...

Why doesn't GameFAQs encourage the authors of their FAQs to participate in their forums more actively? There's no way the folks in the forum are the ones writing those FAQs and I know that some of them are multisite FAQs but... look... they NEED people who can spell.

I think you're taking what we're saying waaaaay out of context. Sure we're saying its sad to live with your parents with no intention of leaving at 23 --- but OBVIOUSLY there are family issues that would require you to stay.

Those would be filed in the "Cant help it" folder.... the world isnt black and white, and theres always a gray space inbetween.... I dont think people should way 200-300+ pounds, but I dont run around calling people who have thyroid problems or pregnant women "fatty".

If you're a loser, its pretty obvious to everyone else... and if you're needed at home in a time of family crisis, that doesnt usually set off the "loser alarm".

Seems like you've been punched in the head a few too many times yourself, as you cant seem to figure this out. :)

Pretty much what I said above, with out the smartass-ness... as you were pretty nice about your rebuttal. I commend your loyalty to your family, as everyone in life will let you down in the end, and all you have is your family.

Ya well you obviously don't live in Sweden. What kind of fucking statment is that. You pretty much just large generalized/sterotyped people based on where they live(or don't live).

In all honesty, it seems that a good percentage of those here are in college. It seems the few high schools tend to get mocked if they admit to being that age.

I wonder if you asked that same question here what the percentage would be? Or maybe you could phrase it in another way, such as "who lives with their parents or has their parents pay for housing?" That would include those who have parents paying for their dorms, and giving you a good idea of how many CAG are really still dependent on their parents.

Though I do have a friend who finished at the end of last year, but he is saving his money so he can afford a better place to live than the traditional bachelor pad. He pays for everything he consumes though, often more. For example, his parents often send him to buy groceries and never pay him back and he doesn't ask, and currently he's helping to pay for many of the materials they are buying to remodel their home, and he's helping actually do it. They have plenty of money, so it's not like they need his help.

Well, there's this thing called short term and long term benefits. By working one part time job (or the equivalent in hours, even if it's technically two jobs), and going to school full time, people still have time to actually learn the material and have a solid foundation to eventually begin their future careers with.

By taking every measure to live on your own, you probably will hamper your ability to actually get out of college what you need to and (in my case) get into a quality graduate school.

Though, another thing, last year I was living on my own in toronto and I was in school. I paid for my apartment, bills (excluding things directly related to school like books) and took full care of my self. I went from 0 to 100 without any real problem. Though I had done that with money I had previously saved, as the damn canadian government wouldn't give me a work visa.
Ya well you obviously don't live in Sweden. What kind of fucking statment is that. You pretty much just large generalized/sterotyped people based on where they live(or don't live).
It sounded like he was referring to the cost of housing, which can determine the ease or difficulty of kids moving out on their own.
Living by yourself doesn't automatically make you mature, look at javeryh for example. LMAO POOPING IS FUNNY!
Yeah dude. What the hell are you even talking about?

Like Mookyjooky said we are not talking about a medical reason to live with your parents. Thats like yelling at a blind guy because his shoes dont match.

Again like mookyjooky said, if you are a loser (the type we are talking about) that its pretty aparent to everyone.
I make fun of people who live with their parents. Get out from under Mama's wing and carve your own path. If you're not in school... or injured, there is no reason to live with your parents for more than a month.
Ok, I'm not going to take this troll bait.

I don't understand why this topic was created in the first place. You must be really ignorant to not realize that many forums are populated with high school kids in their teens or college students. Adults in the working world usually have better and more important things to do in their life than be part of a message board.

And I really don't understand the post about actively trying to move out when you are 20. That just doesn't make any sense. Most people are still in school at that time, so why not use all the resources that you have instead wasting your time and money so that you can feel a little cooler? I'll be 20 in May, I pay for everything (school, other bills), and I live with my parents in the summer while working full-time. That's not really going from 0 to 100 instantaneously. People should become more independent while they are in high school anyways. It's really not that hard to manage your own things. If you're parents are handing you everything, then you're probably just a spoiled brat.

So yeah, you can get two jobs and waste your time while trying to be on your own, or you can live with your parents, and use your [free] resources so that once you do finish school and get a nice paying job , you'll be ready to move out and live wherever you work.

i'm 19 and live with my parents. ARE YOU CALLING ME A LOSER?

i go to college and live with them during the summer... my self confidence is hurt guys, thanks a lot.

Good you slacking bitch. AWAY WITH YOU!!!!!

Naw just kidding. Anyway.....we set the age limit to around 23.....you said you were 19.
Ya well you obviously don't live in Sweden. What kind of fucking statment is that. You pretty much just large generalized/sterotyped people based on where they live(or don't live).
Well no, I meant that it's impossible to be 20 and live here by yourself, unless you got some kind of sweet deal, or snagged a high up position without working your way up.

The housing prices and taxes are insane.
Posting means you already have.
I'm not going to fight, I have reasons to be with my parents.

1. I'm currently on welfare and $8,000 in debt. If I have no active place to live, I could not get a check.

2. If anyone knows, trying to get a decent job in Michigan is like trying to get a needle from a haystack.

3. I have no transportation of my own, so I need a way back and forth places.

I think its unfair to generalize people who live with their parents "Losers" and I take offense on what you said.

I've been in a good mood lately, so all I ask is for no flaming okay?

Thanks :)
