I certainly thought so. I didn't see the Last King of Scotland so I can't comment on it and Forest Whitaker's acting but of all the movies I saw (nominated or not) Will Smith had done the best job acting I'd seen all year.

Edit- I'd say a close second was Leonardo DiCaprio in The Departed but he wasn't even nominated for it.

Personally, I liked The Departed but didn't think it was the best film of the year. It was worth a nomination but it wasn't that great, although DiCaprio did play the part perfectly.

Woah, I get the entire week (March 12-16) off for midterms, which is awesome since we never get more than maybe 2-3 days, if that. I'm wondering why our midterms aren't close to the middle of the semester (starts Jan 8 and ends April 28, so that's week 10 of 16). Sweet, it seems that I get the monday after that off for in-service, too, which means 10 days off in a row. Damn, I can't wait for these next two weeks to get over ASAP.

Everyone that was nominated tonight did excellent jobs. As for Forest Whitaker getting Best Actor, its about time. Hes done his dues long enough and its good to see himget recognized and win something. Same for Helen Mirren.

Will Smith (and his son surprisingly) were THE reason to see that movie. Everything else about it was mostly average but the acting of those 2 was just plain awesome.

Sure, almost every one of his movies may have a mafia theme but that's about the only thing. Everything about most of his movies just screams quality. The only 2 that I can think of that are even remotely similar are Casino and Goodfellas.

Those biopics are ALWAYS nominated (See: The Queen, Ray, that Johnny Cash movie whose name escapes me), as are every movie in which someone with mental handicaps learns something. Shoot, I could star in a movie about a retarded celebrity, and be nominated for an Oscar, even if the movie was nothing but 100 minutes of me eating paste and pretending to milk a cow.

Looking at the top movies of the weekend its becoming painfully obvious that ANY movie can be a box office success as long as enough money is spent on advertising.

Question: Isnt it the case that those that preorder a game from Gamestop's WEBSITE will actually stand to get the game fractionally earlier than if you had preordered in store? Something about shipping it TO the stores as opposed to shipping it directly to you?

I'm not going to bestbuy tomorrow. The BB thread at this site alone had over 30,000 views in less then a day. We're not the only deal site that knows about it. It'll be a waste of time IMO.

I would love to grab Fire Emblem and Metroid Prime 2 at those prices, but they'll probably both be gone by the time I get out of school. :cry:
 
If any Wii owners head to BB tomorrow, just a small heads up:

Looks like there's a CaseLogic neoprene portable DVD player case on sale for $5, marked down from $20. I bought a couple and tested them out - they'd fit a Wii + cables + 1 'mote + 1 'chuk somewhat well. Not as good as a dedicated case, but good nonetheless.

'Course, this leaves out a lot of things - extra 'motes, VC controller, Wavebirds, etc etc. But if you absolutely needed something to transport only the bare minimum, it's not going to be a bad choice. Again, not a great one, but not bad.

Additionally, they could be used for other things. I've found that portable hard drives would work very well with them.

They don't show up on BB's site.

Anyway, just a small heads up. It's not worth posting in the deal area.

I'm not even worrying about it myself. My BB probably only has like 95% of those games anyhow. And its always cheap shitty games no one cares about. Hell, about the only clearance game I've ever gotten from them because of CAG is SSX Tricky for 10 bucks.
