You think this person lost/quit his job? ***WoW Related*** ***UPDATED: NO JOB NOW***
Try getting his account banned while he is sleeping.
Maybe the shock of losing all his hard work will finally make him wake up and realize its all a waste of time and money. I know if I had a max level super rich guy with lots of good gear and I had no way of ever playing him again, I would probably just stop playing.
I seriously doubt this guy has a level 70 toon after only a couple months of playing.

I don't understand all these suggestions that involve violence or sabotage. In the end this will only make things worse and push this person deeper into his addiction (or worse). I think that you need to talk to your roommate and express your concerns about this behavior and responsibilities.

No matter how much my family confronted me about how sick they were of seeing me sitting there wasting all my time, how much they missed the old me, I just tuned them all out and kept playing, even though as I played I KNEW I was wrong I just couldn't stop, what got me to stop was force, my computer was taken away and I had no choice but to quit, eventually I didn't feel like playing anymore, and by the time I got my computer back(3 weeks later) I didn't want to log on anymore and I still haven't after about 5 months.

JW, can u block ports on WoW in the router configuration? Only problem is he's smart to go to the router itself to reset it...

Also, he played from like I got home last night at 6:45 to at least 3:30 in the morning...

fuck it, if he keeps bringing in the bacon then let him be, if he loses his job then no more internet, problem solved. I love my family dearly, but I have let them learn things the hard way so they remember.

its not bad in small doses, but yeah people being addicted like that seriously need to fix the problem they are escaping from through intervention or counciling and get on with their life.

If he puts enough time into it he could have 2 or more. Atleast if he plays as much as the OP makes it seem like he does.
hmmm i thought i posted it but anyways...

i called his workplace and yea the front desk lady told me to call his cell phone and asked me if i wanted to leave a msg as well...
So from the sounds of it he still has a job. Atleast I would think he does seeing how she told you to call his cell phone. How long has he worked at this place? How much vacation time, sick time or any other time off does he have?
Porn?

Seriously though, he's not going to stop playing completely without either time or an intervention. You and his GF have to talk to him NOW.
I agree with this. He will get sick of the game like I did at some point. However I think it is best for you and his GF to talk to him about it.

I played this for about a year and a half with 2 people from work. Both went to different servers then one got fired from the job and the other quit the game. The one that quit the game now playes off and on but not like he did in the past. I quit last june or july. I got to a point that all I was doing was playing that or going to work and school. All my friends at the time worked the days I was off so I had nothing to do. When we would be able to do something I would say fuck this game and go. So I was not all the way lost. Try and get him out of the house.

If the two of you do nothing he will get sick of it but it will take time. Like I said drag his ass out of the house. If that does not work both of you sit him down and talk to him. However this needs to be done before the expansion comes out in I think November. Hell talk his GF into giving him a lap dance when he is playing. If he keeps playing all is lost but if he stops then you still have hope.

DO NOT damage his computer. I suggest after both of you talk to him deleting the game and puting the disc up where he cant get it. Best place is at someone elses house. Only tell him you did this that way he wont be that pissed if he finds out on his own.

Last thing is you need to shit or get off the pot about talking to him. All it seems like you are doing is draging your feet and keeping tabs on how long he is playing.

I had originally written a lengthier post, but I'll just say this...

Don't give it another week. If the situation is as dire as you say it is, then just confront him now. I'm assuming you're willing to start blocking the WoW ports on the router immediately? Don't treat him like a machine with an on/off switch by blocking ports or banning accounts. Just talk to him like an actual human being. You don't need to make a huge spectacle out of it at first. Just let him know immediately that he should take a break for a bit. Do what sendme suggested, and try to get him out of the house, away from the computer.

Why wait a week to do something you can start doing now?

Well called his office again to see if it was a fluke about his job situation but sure enough the operator told me that he no longer works there...
