nice updates havent seen this thread in a awhile course havent had internet in a while either so...

also where and when did that red see through n64 happen? granted its not as cool as my launch n64 that broke its reset button three months in but the system still works fine! well that and God only knows what kind of dust and hairs are in there.
Thought i'd finally post my current setup. I just moved back from after finishing university - so this is hopefully a temporary setup because I want to move into a place with my girlfriend and start working.

Most of the controllers fit in the big-ass drawer.$

The stuff that rarely gets used ended up in this little bench thing that nobody ever sits on LOL!

That frees up a little space elsewhere, albeit not much. I think I'll be packed full again by the fall to be honest.$

Time for Futurama, dinner, then sleep. Cheers!

@wiggyx *rubs lips* Ya see that? It's foam. It came from my mouth. It's foam that came out of my mouth because I AM FOAMING FROM MY MOUTH. Epic collection.

Even though you need to get your wonky-ass shelves taken care of ASAP, wiggy, I'm still envious of your space. I wish I could post an update of my collection like everyone else, but because I can't put anything out like I want to, everything looks almost exactly the same as my old pictures.

Thats a really cool set-up! Is that Bowser from the Kart Set? There is one on clearence at my target. Just waiting for another drop.

That Bowser bust is freakin' sweet! How do I get on of those exactly?

Also, the Zelda poster is tits, but what on Earth made them put the damn ESRB rating on it?! That would make me nuts to no end

Yeah, I know. It's gonna be a big-ass project though. I'm tentatively planning on fall when it starts getting too cold to enjoy the outdoors so I can live in the basement for a week or so :p

I can't lie, I really enjoy the space. It sat unfinished for about 4 years before we did any work on it, and I'm really happy we didn't put it off for another 4 or more years :)

Now is the perfect time to hang out in the basement 'round here (you know, if we had one). It's way too freakin' hot to bother with moving. I have to cram in all of my outdoor activity and house projects during winter when I'm not just sitting around and hoping for death.

Yeah, it is. It dropped down to around $22 bucks @ my store a few months ago. I still haven't build the track yet tho lol.
Very nice setup Kurosaki. Especially liked the bottle of Greygoose in the back :)
Thanks. I love Goose :D. That's the new cherry noir flavor, it's delicious.

The ESRB rating on the poster doesn't bother me. The poster itself is so amazing, I easily forget its there.
That blue Bowser bust.... I am so jealous!
It is pretty beast.

I have so many other things, I want to showcase in my room but don't really have space for. I have a whole lego display case with sensor lights, display banners from retail for ME3, AC, ect. I'll probably post pictures of these things eventually or shots of my closet lol.
also where and when did that red see through n64 happen?
Around 2000, along with blue, purple, pink, green, and gray.

I started collecting some older Nintendo stuff, here's what I have that I've unloaded, I have more NES and some doubles still boxed up. I'm almost all out of romm for this stuff, wife wants my retro stuff to go to the bar downstairs that nobody uses, but then it wouldn't be displayed lol. She just doesn't understand!
IMG_0032.jpg

There would be hell to pay if my wife tried to make me hide part of my collection. Granted, I hide my retro stuff anyway because I don't have room for it right now, but the Missus knows I want to figure out a way to display it and she's totally fine with that. She gets to hang up pictures of the kid and weird metal trees, so I get to show off my collections!

not sure how pictures of the kid and games compare lol

Absolutely. I don't have to feed video games or change their diapers. They also don't say "No" and jump on my bed in the morning to wake me up. He is pretty cute, though; I'll give him that.

thats why you train them as soon as they can walk to make sandwhiches and fetch the slippers.
My kid can, but I already have my wife for that stuff, so it's hardly impressive.
well get the kid to do that but sounds like they need work if they jump on your bed to wake up you up in the morning and know what the word "no" means. use wife for extra sex.

Been awhile since I've updated the pics.

For the most part the gaming portions are relatively the same, but the anime collection has continued to grow. ^__^

I've got a ton of stuff arriving in the next week as far as gaming goes, but I'll just save that for the next update.

It looks like you've still got some room to expand. I've hit peak capacity and don't know what to do. Well, except cry that is...

That's actually an HDMI cable connected to the TV from the laptop you see above so I can watch videos online and so on.

But yeah, I've actually hit the peak already as far as wall space is concerned.

The only actual space on the picture above to the right is actually just short of showing the other brown shelf that stores my anime DVDs with the figures above, so not enough space there for a shelf, and boy have I measured endlessly to try and fit something there, but there's not enough space. :*(

I'm sure I can figure something out though if need be. ^__^

I thought you meant for more shelves. XD

But yeah, temporarily still more space since the remaining shelf not maxed yet. I may continue to stack on top of the blocked closet, but haven't decided yet since I've actually been accessing the closet more as of late, which is why I removed a row that was on top before. But if need be, it'll have to go back on top. ;D

Every time I think I've hit the peak though there's always a solution in some way shape or form. Hope you will discover one too. :D

Your DS collection still manages to amaze me. I've NEVER seen anyone else with such a large portable collection :applause:

I just did another band-aid expansion myself. Now that I have to collect Genesis/Sega CD/32X games again, the space that I made is gonna fill up FAST. But, like you, I always seem to find some way to keep opening space up and making room. I DO need to start the new shelves though. That'll only last so long before I just can't make more room...

DSC02728.jpg

Notice the awesome crooked shelf designed by not other than the mastermind behind this whole wall o' bizarre shelving himself! Of course I didn't even notice it was crooked until after I took this pic. Ugh, just another thing to patch up.

DSC02723.jpg

Only 6 Genesis games and two 32X games so far, but I'm sure that I'll be picking up a LOT over the next few months since I don't even have a good sized collection of commons yet :p

DSC02726.jpg

Made a good chunk of room this time, but that's it, after filling up that lower left spot I'll be boned.

DSC02720.jpg

Hell, the more I think about it, the more I realize that building new shelving isn't gonna afford me that much more space. I might have to carry over to the other side of the room...

I'm just waiting for you to make that new shelf soon sir. :D

And also awaiting for the future of other monster shelves you going to make. ;D

I was just about to buy one of those Atlantic media centers but it's about 1/2 inch too long (would block the electrical outlet) for the spot it would need to go in.

Yeah, it's getting precariously close ot D-day with that project, especially with the 20+ game auctions that I'm eyeballing ;)

Simple solution: move shelf in front of outlet, cut hole in back of shelf!

I looked it up, the show is called "Collection Intervention". My friends always make fun of me and say I'm a hoarder, but I think a collector and a hoarder couldn't be more different.

sweet thanks. to do agree as hoarders tend to collect garbage and trash and bugs and usually a pile of feces and urine. and unless i have that hidden somewhere i dont think im a hoarder. granted i may have a collection and probably spending problem. but hoarding in the traditional sense no way.

I think the show will probably be similar problems to the people on hoarders, but more to the financial aspect and obsession of the hobby. Hoarders are just gross and disgusting. Collectors who have a problem probably spent their life savings and are in trouble financially from all the years of spending. That will probably be the majority of the problems, but I guess I'll have to see the show to see. Intriguing.

You don't have to hoard garbage in order to qualify as a "hoarder" (even though it's not really recognized as a diagnosis on a clinical level a this point). The most extreme cases do involve saving/hoarding nearly everything, including bags of excrement/bodily fluids/etc and what is undeniably garbage. But there are plenty of people that I've known in my life that I would consider "hoarders", at least at some point in their life based on WHY they are collecting rather than what.

People often hoard to fill a void or ignore a larger problem that the person isn't capable of dealing with (mentally). It tends to go right along with OCD, depression, anxiety, etc. It's honestly more of a coping mechanism than anything, even though it's quite often detrimental to the mental health of those who hoard and those closest to them.

Honestly, the reason I got back into collecting after a 10 year hiatus is because of a car accident that I was in a year ago. My passenger, a good friend, died and I lost all interest in cars and motorsport in an instant. I NEEDED something to help me pass my free time to keep me from ruminating endlessly, and picking up game collecting again was a no-brainer, since its always been something that I've enjoyed.

The trick is to not let it get the best of you. I tetered on the edge of spending too much on this hobby for a few months, but managed to give myself a reality check and keep it under control. The people that I consider "hoarders" have lost that control and can't seem to find a way to regain it.

My wife's a Psych Nurse Practitioner, and psychology is a big personal interest of mine. This is something that I've done plenty of reading up on and had many conversations with she and her peers about. This subject came up on Digitpress as well, and it's interesting to see how many people become really defensive about the subject. I think us game collectors tend to be really touchy about it, and I can see why. I'm sure a large portion of the collection community is "hoarding" (compensating) on some level.

Well usually it's not about collecting garbage, but once they have so many things around the house many of the things that are hidden in the midst of the mess becomes garbage since they get damaged and destroyed, or things are in there that don't really sit very well after being there for years. I went to a garage sale of this old lady who passed away, and she was a hoarder. Her children were trying to sell all of her stuff in her house, and many of the things just had to be thrown away because they were in there for so long and not attended to or used. Not saying hoarders have to collect garbage to be deemed a hoarder, but the stuff they collected tend to end up that way after awhile. But I don't really think anybody on here is considered a hoarder, although there is a slight borderline on the OCD for some of us to collect, at least I know that is true for me. Also, it is indeed a good way to kill time. I mainly got into after major surgeries year back when all I could do was sit in bed and order stuff on ebay, and it just kind of developed form there, lol. Now look at it. XD
