Your Most Aggravating Achievements?
I think I'm at that part actually....you have to fend off 5 waves of enemy attacks, they come into your building and you also have to blow up a vehicle and snipe guys across the way in buildings on the other side. Its really tough...I get to the last wave and get killed somehow.
No, the part I'm thinking of is one of last American missions. You're trying to take over a town (I think in France), and it involves you taking over 6-7 buildings/EVILINFINITEENEMYGENERATORS, which in and of itself took me about 5 hours to finish. It's just hard. Each time you clear a building you get a checkpoint, but half the time, I missed one enemy and he killed me before the checkpoint. So yeah, you have this hellish trial to deal with.

Then, you have to go on top of a silo or tower or something and snipe mortar teams. On everything except Veteran, it's a piece of cake. On Veteran, there's at least two times the teams to take out. You literally need to walk up there with two sniper rifles, be a fast, perfect shot to survive, and you still are lucky if you have time to reload your rifles. This part took me another 1.5 hours or so to finish.

This part was even harder than No Fighting in the War Room in COD4. So satisfying to finish it, though. COD2 was my first 1000/1000.

Master of the Extreme - Forget that you can't get hit once or your multiplier will reset, how about the fact that it will take almost 2 hours of continuous play to even have a shot at the achievement?
I've played one game of E4 for - about - two hours and twenty minutes. I could have kept going, but I had to go to work.
I just got the One Free Bullet achievement in HL 2 Ep. 1 and it was frustrating me. I figured it would be a fun challenge but I hated doing it. I really just wanted to shoot some people but I was so close to the end I just finished it out. I'll no longer sacrifice my enjoyment I get out of a game for some achievement.
I got 1/3 of the way through Half Life 2 before I noticed that the achievement said "Episode 1". I kept thinking to myself: "Damn this is hard." At least it made the last 2/3 of the game significantly easier.
I'll second the TMNT, I've searched quite a few times and have never found anyone on there (though honestly, you can say that about most of the XBLA games)
Yeah, unfortunately. I have over 20 Arcade games, and I really would like to get some games going online. Sometimes, I will start a game and just wait for people to come, but that wait can be awhile, so I don't really bother, anymore.

And I'm glad to see some others mention beating CoD2 on veteran.

Any escort mission, generally speaking. I hate escort missions.

It all started with Natalya, so many years ago...

HAHA what was that, infinite ammo?

I don't even remember how much time I spent in the control room..

I have too. It's not really that it's difficult, it's just really kind of unnecessary to make it take that long. Crank up the difficulty and give multipliers faster or something. I played about 100 minutes before I just got tired and wanted to play something else. I'll tell you what though, R4 The Revenge >>> Geometry Wars and that's real.

Glitched achievements. fuck you, game developers; no excuse. Especially the ones that never get fixed.

Seriously from Gears of War, just based on the amount of time it took. I actually unlocked it at 9XXX kills because of all the kills I racked up during matches when people quit.

Oh, so many I can agree with here...

Crackdown: Damn you, agility orbs! I'm missing about 10 I think... What made it worse was that I was ahead of my friend, and then the next morning, he suddenly had the achievement. Turns out he stayed up all night searching for the agility orbs. Jerk.

CoD2: I'm stuck in the area just after the alley ambush in the British campaign. It seems like I get killed no matter where I go after that.

HL2:Ep1: I'm working on the One Free Bullet, but I keep worrying that I accidentally fired a bullet when I picked up some weapon...

RS:V: My friend and I have played through every map and game type twice now, and Special Operations just will not freakin' unlock.

Anything involving online multiplayer: In general, I don't enjoy online multiplayer games. It usually just makes me feel worse about myself than I usually do (Yeah, I know... I have issues), so I hate when they try to force me to play online. CoD4 has the best setup. No online achievements, but a seperate "achievement-esque" system for online play.

I'm sure I'll come up with more later...

I hear you. I like playing games online, but I still don't like the games that have a ton of multipalyer achievements. This is especially true when the achievements are like "stab 40 opponents in the face while having underwear on your head."
The hardest achievements to come by in any game I've played so far has to be Burnout Revenge. I played this game FOREVER and I only have like 245 points to date. The achievement where you have to have a top-ranked or most viewed crash video is just silly.
I have 860 and those were damn hard to get. Only ones left are the MP ones. :(

The one you are talking about wasn't bad. Back when it came out they would reset the videos/views once every couple of weeks so you could get the achievement with a tiny amount of views. I think I got mine with 15 views.

Well I just played Pinball FX last night and managed to get to the wizard mode and the game frooze. Yup apparently if you have one or two balls locked at the race event in the top left and you start the last challenge the game freezes. WTF, Speed Demon is never going to be achieved if its glitched. Also holds true to the Agents Final Confrontation one too which I hear is glitched as well.

Yea add me on the not going to get the Orbs Achievement because I have a life but it was fun to collect the ones I got in Crackdown.

Yes, GH3 you can suck it lol.

I'm always done for XBLA games so add me or invite me if you can't find anybody to join!

Mile High Club and all Gears killing achievements.

I got to the end 3 times for MHC and 2 of the times, shot the guy in the leg, which apparently kills the hostage..
Everything in Rumble Roses XX and DOAX2

I dare anyone to try and get at least half of the points in those games.
I have 120, it's not hard for the championship points, just beat each girl once and get popularity at 100. It's a bit more difficult for the heel characters though. It's also harder as you unlock people because you have to beat both personalities to get a title shot, and if your other personality has it, you have no chance. Now unlocking those costumes is another story. You have to go through a lot for those.

Achievements like those in CoD3 online where you have to get like 50000 points or some crap.

Really I dislike any achievements that require you to actually put in a set period of hours of time just to get them.

I like achievements like Halo 3 - beat on legendary/stick 4 people in a game, or CoD4 Legendary/mile high club/ any other achievements that are beaten depending on how good/lucky you are. Basically acheivements that are actually challenges and not time sinks are fun. I also like "collect all the _____" achievements. I would have liked AC's collect all flags one...but I found out AC was a messed up game by the time I beat it.

yea I hate having to stab people while wearing underwear on my head too... :D
HL2:Ep1: I'm working on the One Free Bullet, but I keep worrying that I accidentally fired a bullet when I picked up some weapon...
The only bullet I fired for this achievement was blowing out a lock from the other side of a wire fence/door right after getting the pistol. Everything else was gravity gun and flare kills. :D
portal ... fall 30,000 feet... Annoying...
Really, I thought that was really easy. Find yourself a nice wall and floor, set up two portals and let the game run for awhile.

Definitely guitar hero 3. Completing through the fire and flames was rough. Getting the 15 wins in a row with a controller wasn't exactly fun either.

Any online achievements that do not allow you to earn them split-screen. First off, it messes up the online community because people just try to get the achievements. Second, when nobody plays anymore, how can one get it except by doing special matches!?

I also hate some of the Portal achievements in the Orange Box. Most of them are not too hard, but the ones which require the least steps, least portals, and least time, are really hard on a console! They are hard enough on a PC with more precise control, but are pretty much impossible on a console.

I have only played Portal on the PC, so I can only imagine how damn infuriating those must be without the precision of a keyboard and mouse. I have thought about renting The Orange Box for the 360, but I don't want to end up putting my controller through the television.
Getting the 15 wins in a row with a controller wasn't exactly fun either.
I was going to mention this stupid achievement under the impression that nobody even bothered. Apparently I would have spoken too soon.

But yes, that was gonna be my nomination. Mile High in CoD4 probably took me 100 tries or so over a few frustrating sessions. Naturally I got so giddy the first time I reached the final terrorist that I shot the hostage immediately, but the second time was the charm.

Mongoose Mowdown, 2 for 1, and Maybe Next Time Buddy in Halo 3 were infuriating. Mongoose Mowdown is impossible due to the playlist never picking a map with a Mongoose, and when it does its usually vetoed, then its nearly impossible to even kill someone with a Mongoose when you do get a map. Maybe Next Time Buddy because even when i set up for someone to jack me on Snowbound, everyone runs away or throws a sticky, then when you do get jacked your movement is gimped to its nearly impossible to steal it back.

I got my 1000 and Security Armor so I'm happy now.

So far for me, I'd have to say the Mile High Club in CoD4 (I just got to it last night and almost threw my controller into my tv after an hour.. still haven't finished it) and the Band Achievements in Rock Band. I play it solo most of the time. My son is getting better, but he's 5 years old, so he still struggles on some of the songs on Easy. My wife plays a little RB every now and then, but she'd rather play Paperboy on XBLA. /sigh

Edit - Also need to add "Green Grass & High Tides" on Expert Guitar on RB.

I would have to say Ridge Racer 6 the achievement exploration complete!, where you had to win all 235 races. The last 3 were pretty damn tough but after winning 232 of them I felt that I had to get it. The other one was Call of Duty 3 was about half way doing it on veteran and gave up on that one (game was so damn glitchy). When a achievement stops being fun, whats the point?

QFT. I tried them on the first stage and I don't think I could even get close to bronze for the least steps. I just gave up.

Least portals I could see going for as that lets you stick to treating it like a puzzler and carefully map out your moves.
Earth Defense Force - Clear Hardest & Inferno.
At this point this game goes from fun to infuriating.:bomb:
I'd agree with you if it weren't for the huge sense of accomplishment I got from finally slaying that horrible beast. Half the fun was coming up with the most bizarre and totally incomprehensible plan possible just to get past some of the more horrifically challenging levels (i.e. laying C70 bombs at your feet waiting to be chomped by red ants).

And hardest? Pshh. Hardest is a joke next to inferno, my friend. I could beat hardest by myself. People who beat inferno by themselves should recieve a medal by mail.

I'd say most of Hardest is easy enough with the right equipment.
Nevertheless, there are still a couple missions in there that necessitate hair-pulling. Especially if one hasn't collected any armor points from Easy - Normal. I.E. Convergence & Spearhead.

It really is spectacular how, despite the game being so simple, one really needs to strategize to win at the higher levels. Just yesterday to win Elite we hid in a house, fired MEX missiles out of the windows and planted Zera Turrets on the roof to swat away Ravagers trying to find an angle to shoot us.. while hoping a MEX wouldn't turn around and blow up our house in its hot pursuit of the enemy.

This reminds me of another achievement pet peeve. Achievements that are only unlocked for player 1 on split screen games, i.e. Earth Defense Force. When two people bust their asses to get through the damn game, they should both get the achievement. There's another game that does this, and I can't remember what it is... Anyone remember?
