Hey all, I'm contemplating picking up SOCOM, but I wanted to get your impressions first. How are the controls? Are there vehicles in the game? Is MP enjoyable?

I liked the first two SOCOM games but haven't gotten the third. This one looks cool, but I don't want to drop $40 if people are just saying it's OK.

Thanks

It made me upgrade to 2.0 its a good game
I got it for 25 with Mcd bbb
controls are different but you can get use to it
and some cool unlockables if you also have socom3

Are the controls different like Syphon Filter? I'm still on the fence on that control scheme. It would have been better to run with the face buttons and aim with the analog stick IMO.

I think the controls are fine, the only one thing that bothers me with this game is the autoaim, it basically takes away any skill requirement.

Syphon Filter's control schemes are changeable.. Default is analog for movement, face buttons for aim. Advanced is the opposite (face for move, analog for aim), and there's Classic which plays just like SF on PS1.

Also, my response to the OP is that SOCOM is OK, the control scheme's aren't that fantastic and the framerate could be better. If you don't have Syphon Filter yet, get that instead.

I bought Socom for PSP the day it came out, also grabbed the headset. Was a fun game for awhile, but I got bored of it.

I guess if you like those kind of games you might enjoy it, but I wasn't too excited over it.

I picked up SOCOM PSP theday it released It was a fairly good game for about a month then I sold it to a friend of mine. I liked it but the single player mode was to short. No there isnt any vehicels. The auto-aim feature sucks. But despite all that the MP is pretty good. There is always someone on where I live. And one cool thing about the game is you can link it between SOCOM 3 on the PS2 and get certent thing you cant get just regularly play SOCOM 3.
