Your own personal Retro Renaissance?

I'd believe it, Pokemon Snap is a great game and I've always thought of it as quite innovative for its time.

Shadowrun is great, I just completed the Genesis version rather recently.

Digging this thread out from the grave, as I bought a bunch more retro games and am looking for feedback. Sure, my 360 is back in peak form, but I've still been hankering for the classics.

Crusaders of Centy - SG: Atlus-published Zelda clone, very rare

The Space Adventure - SCD: Super rare title starring the guy who Dante from DMC was "inspired" by

Axelay - SNES: A highly coveted shmup I never played

Space Megafoce - SNES: See above

Timeslip - SNES: Looks like Contra clone, bought cheap w/Space Megaforce

Rise of the Dragon - SCD: Poor man's Snatcher I remember enjoying

Rock 'n' Roll Racing - SNES: One of my favorite old-school racers. Awesome soundtrack

Shadowrun - SG: Got the SNES one earlier, figured may as well buy both

Brainlord - SNES: Enix RPG I remember being tough, but got cheap

Illusion of Gaia - SNES: Beat back in the day, figured I might wanna play again

Secret of Evermore - SNES: Disappointed back then, as I thought it'd be a Mana sequel. Only rented in the day

Beetle Adventure Racing - N64: Heard great things. Only seemed mediocre when playing now though

Castlevania: Bloodlines - SG: Classic I got in a really cheap lot

Streets of Rage 2 - SG: See above

Can't really comment on those, although I remember reading good things about Beetle racing as well.

I got the NES out this week. Played Little Nemo and RC Pro-Am. I forgot how fun and addicting Pro Am can be. Nothing beats spelling S-M-R-T...I mean, N-I-N-T-E-N-D-O!!!

I am used to current racing games where each race last 5-15 minutes. So if you get behind you have time to catch up. But I'll be damned if I miss a letter or upgrade in RC and try to go back for it because the race will be over by the time I can catch up.

I really like the isometric (3/4 overhead) racers, for the most part. Rock & Roll, RC Pro Am, Super Off-Road... Sometimes the control can be a little funky if you're not used to it, but I much preferred it to the old-school Pole Position perspective.

I do as well. Super-Off Road is another good one. I put many a quarters in the machine at the bowling alley. I am not sure how I would like playing it minus the steering wheel from the arcade though. Whipping that wheel around was all part of the fun. I haven't tried Rock and Roll racing yet.

Have you played Drive to Survive on PS2? I don't think it got the best reviews, but I thought I read it was an isometric racer similar to those you mentioned. I picked it up for $10 (new) at GS, but haven't had a chance to play it.

I can only comment on a few of these games, but the ones I can comment on are all worthy of being played.

Crusader of Centy - I special ordered this one from Gamecrazy a couple years ago. Yes, it's a Zelda clone, but it's a very well done Zelda clone with an interesting game mechanic of using the animals as different skills

Castlevania: Bloodlines - I absolutely love this game. I know all Castlevania freaks absolutely love Alucard, and I'll admit he is a badass, but I don't think I've ever had more fun in a Castlevania game than playing as Eric Lecarde, the spear user. The level design in the game was magnificent as was the music. VERY well done Castlevania.

Streets of Rage 2 - Like you said it's a classic. Get me together with some friends who enjoy old school beat em ups, and we could have some game marathons playing this and Final Fight.
I want to get a Japanese style sit down arcade cabinet and turn it into a MAME machine. That would be the sweet.
I have a good friend who did that. He also helped his buddy do it, too. They are pretty sweet. Sooooooo many games. I like the random-screenshot screensaver.

Imagine a Sega Astro City that is a MAME machine but also has a Dreamcast inside so you can play all those arcade perfect fighters.
