I just dropped $49.99, hint that's retail price, on a new game. I just had a feeling about it.

Ys Seven Limited Edition on PSP. This was at Amazon, no tax, free 2 day shipping on my Prime.

It's paying a good bit but I think the package is awesome and probably won't be going down for awhile, if ever.

Guess what? I don't know the series either! But I will deff be learning! This LE sold me, I've been eying it for weeks.

amazon #$#$#$ up and had this listed at 29.99

i jumped on the wrong package and got the 29.99 one.

had to return it today and amazon was like DUH we dont know what to do DUH

send the first game back and reorder the other one and it be there tomorrow (they will wave the 3.99 fee)

so i go and put the order in and

item wont come till AUG 23 now and by that time i will find a better game to play so #$#$# it .

personally after how amazon #$#$#$# me over on the dsi system i say #$#$# amazon anymore

I say it be deal of the day or on sale some place for 29.99 soon enough

yes i said #$#$#$# a lot cause amazon just pissed me off about all of this .. and what makes me more pissed is i got the package today at 830 am and called .. They never removed the 29.99 game until 315 pm est time when i called back again and said

Still trying to #$#$#$# people over showing the 49.99 game at 29.99 and a manager finally took it down..

screen shot was posted since JUNE 28 showing the LE for 29.99

ANd what Pisses me off even more AMAZON acts like it knows more then the customers ..

I have dawn of heroes coming AUG 20 Well the release date was pushed back till at least mid sept .. I go You better change that shipping date to show people they are not getting the game come aug 20

The little #$#$# on the other line said THOSE GAMES WILL COME ON AUG 20......

so if they was to be little #$#$# like that i will be more then happy to write in and complain on AUG 20 when i dont get my dawn of heroes game

man i needed to do
that rant LOL

Finally jumped on Gamefly and it seems gamefly shipped the game from tampa today meaning i should have it in hand Friday (maybe thursday) so at least i can play it off them for free (have one more month free credit)

maybe if i love it i will buy it off gamestop for 50 know for a fact it wont be from amazon

So how is the game though? I have my copy at Gamestop waiting for me today, and I'm a long time fan (I have Y's 1 & 2 on the Turbo CD) but with VC2 coming later this month I wanted to be sure.

The game is awesome.

You won't be disappointed, as a Ys fan. They added some new ideas but all of them are executed brilliantly, and Ys 7 comes direct from Falcom / Xseed themselves so it's not some kind of third party hack job. RPGamer.com has a good (and I think the only) review up. I have yet to hear of a Ys fan that has not liked it, and Ys fans in general are very protective about their series and won't hesitate to bash a bad entry.

As a long time fan, this is the game for you. Xseed and Falcom need your support much more than Sega ;) Falcom has even said that the sales of the Ys games are going to determine if they port Ys Origins to the PSP.

I don't feel the LE is worth $50, seeing as artbooks and soundtracks are things Atlus give us for free (and the cloth map isn't worth $20 in my eyes), but I'll grab it on PSN as soon as it updates and get the LE when Amazon discounts it in the future.

It's too bad it doesn't have the Adol figure I saw in a few pics on Xseed's site. I'm sure some will disagree with me over the LE but eh, I guess Atlus has spoiled me... I mean, hell, I'm getting an artbook just for preordering Etrian, and they've given me so many soundtracks for free I lost count somewhere.

man amazon is so freaking #$#$#$#

i just got an email saying Reorder the Le and it will be adjusted for 29.99 even though they already gave me a 20 buck promo for the misprint.

Tried calling and its so freaking confusing noone know what the #$#$# is going on now .

and what is better then that the item Jumped right into shipping soon even though it will not be get here until Friday Meaning if amazon #$#$#$ up and that 2nd email wasnt to go out i now have to return another item

Amazon is just so freaking #$#$# up these last 2 days ... seems all of its CS cant get on the same page

would kick major ass to get the LE for 29.99 and get another 20 credit for the misprint

I ordered the regular edition from Amazon. Should be here tomorrow. The LE wasn't really worth it to me for $20 more, almost the price of the game.

Is this game a good place to start with the Ys series? I wanted to pick up Ys 1&2 for the turbo CD, but I have yet to find one of those and the system at a garage sale.

Well in January, us PSP owners are getting Ys I and II in a $30 package. We are also getting Ys: The Oath in Felgana in November for $30 it's damn self. This is awesome. (P.S. Also get Knights in the Nightmare on October 19th for $30 like I did.)

Ys Seven regular edition is now sold out on Amazon! O_O Better order that LE quick.

LOL amazon is just asking for troubles once again they put the game back up YET they did not remove any of the pictures

STILL Says Premium edition for 29.99 still shows the artbook, map and CD on the 29.99 page

I'm just trying to decide if I want to wait for the LE to go down or buy now and just wait for to play? I have $35 in gift cards, so that'll take a large chunk out of the price.

The collector in me wants the LE, but I could get the regular edition. I wonder how limited the LE is going to be?

I just had to order the LE. It was only $20 more, plus I love cool stuff. My copy shipped yesterday, but since its coming from KY, won't get it until tomorrow. Wish it shipped from DE/NJ, then I would get it really fast.

I ordered mine with the Green Day Rock Band credit, but it doesn't show in the shipping email that was applied. It sez I'll get it on the 23rd.

If I gave mine up it wouldn't be in a garage sale. :D
is ys 1 and 2 just a port of the Ds game..
No. A thousand times no.

The DS is a very, VERY shitty port of Ys 1 and 2 that was not handled by Falcom at all. Falcom gave it to a company called Interchannel to do it, and imo (I just played through it recently) and a few other Ys fans opinions, they fucked it up.

First off, they have the ugliest 3D I've ever seen on the DS, and the 2D characters on the garish 3D look atrocious. They changed the leveling system so it's broken. They added in some new area to Ys 1 which is just unnecessary and breaks the flow of the game. They also changed the combat system from the original, and while it works, there are times its pretty crappy.

Atlus also butchered the translation... you visit the Temple of Salmon, instead of Solomon. One guys name is Dr Fleah instead of Dr Flair. Little things like that.

Ys 1 and 2 for PSP was made by Falcom themselves, and is going to be the true definitive version of the game. It is definitely worth picking up over the DS one, and you'd really be doing the series a disservice by not getting the PSP version because you have the DS one.

Do you have a Wii? They are both on there for $8 (or $9) as a package.

The Ys games are made so that you can jump in at anytime... it usually always starts with Adol drifting off to someplace new and doesn't really reference previous games too often. The only direct sequel the series has seen is Ys 2, which is why they get bundled together.

wow that was fast... amazon change it from aug 20 to today...

should
get it around 2pm... now to figure out if i want to open it or sell the game sealed..... (mostly wanted the extras

it the game a rpg game or an action game... looks more of an action game then an rpg on screenshots

I also snagged the LE a couple days ago :) Although the only way I could avoid paying for it is telling my parents to get it as a Christmas Gift :(

Still waiting on my LE, hopefully it will come today or tommorrow. I got mine for $40 during that buy 80 save 20 promo at gamestop that worked with preorders

Edit: scratch that... they charged my card so I figured it was shipped but GS.com is saying it's backordered, even though I preordered it over a month ago...
If I gave mine up it wouldn't be in a garage sale. :D
I kind of doubt I'd find one this way, but one can always hope for someone who doesn't know what they have.
I'm somewhat intrigued by this series, is the Book of Napishtim worth picking up as well? I see GS has it for about $6 used.
I heard that one wasn't ported very well to the PSP. I have the PS2 version, but I haven't played it.

wow talk about not getting what you think .

i thought the artbook would been big like knights in nightmare.. the artbook little bigger then the game

Sorry just so I can remember, which Ys game in the series was released in the US on the SNES? I remember playing it as a kid but don't remember the name or which one in the series it was.

According to gamefaqs, looks like 3.
According to gamefaqs, looks like 3.
Ys 3 was fun on the SNES. On my second play through there is a spot where you can sit your character and if your using a controller with turbo buttons you can tape a button down and leave it overnight and be max level. Only did this on my 2nd play through though. Felt kinda proud figuring that one out.

^ They are a different breed of game, but they are still freaking awesome. They can't be compared to FF and DQ, as they are different kinds of games.
I never played the Ys series, are the games as good as the FF or DQ series per gameplay and storyline?
The Ys series of games is probably closer to Zelda than anything. The majority of them are top down action RPG's, the only thing they borrow from games like FF and such is that you get exp for kills and can level up.

The games are known for being fast paced, in both story and gameplay. Ys generally has decent stories, but it moves at a rapid pace and you are never in one spot for very long. The combat is fast but rewarding, someone described it as "Secret of Mana on speed" and that's probably an apt description.

The story isn't bad, I enjoy it quite a bit since it never gets bogged down with meaningless drivel, but if you are expecting a story and character exposition along the lines of FF you'll be disappointed.

If you enjoy action RPG's, you'll dig Ys. If you are looking for something that is turn based, slower, or has an epic story, you might not like it as much.

The boss fights are kind of hard, even on easy. Bring at least 2 healing potions along when fighting bosses.

Don't you get a party member that has a heal spell?
I don't have neither Ys nor Hexyz Force, which one would you prefer?
I find this one more fun easily, but Hexyz Force is a longer and easier game.

I don't remember a heal spell, but I don't remember the bosses being particularly difficult in the Japanese version. Some were annoying, such as the sky dungeon boss and the final boss (oh dear god... -_-).

It's all about figuring out the patterns and how they will inevitably change as the boss gets lower on health. Don't be afraid to be a little cheap, switch party members often or play it safe while learning these patterns.

I'm kindof surprised more people aren't talking about the game here. I want more Falcom games localized, more bitches need to buy it.

Ok, I suck cock at this game. First boss is murdering me even with the max number of potions you can carry. I think I need to drop to easy mode. :( This is why I play turn-based RPGs.

EDIT: Nevermind, took some advice from posts on another board, went back to town to buy some equipment, had a much easier time on Normal.

I loaded up my game and ran through a new game quickly to the first boss (Holding down the O button to speed up ftw). The trick to that boss is to watch its head while you get the timing down between its moves. You can usually get two full attack combo's in and even an ability (RT + Button) if you want before jumping backwards with the square button. Just keep that up the entire time and when it switches to "WARNING!!!" just pummel the hell out of him in his right or left side. Eventually you'll wear him away.

If you're really good at timing, then you can tap RT and LT at the same time for a perfect block. I'm not really any good at that so I never used it.

EDIT: Yes, buying armor on Adol before you leave town for the first time certainly helps.

For the most part, yeah. Later bosses will pose a bit more of a challenge and the final boss is a pretty big jump in difficulty somewhat. All of which can be offset by overgearing yourself. However grinding for craft components is a pain in the ass.
