The coupon codes have been reported, but I don't think anyone has noted that familyvideo.com has The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass available for pre-order for $29.99 + 0.99 shipping - $5 off for new customers or $3 off for existing customers with coupon. Net price is $25.98 or $27.98. Amazon is listing a price of $34.99 for it.

$5 off new customers: NEWPGMEM
$3 off existing custs: NEWMEM3F

Of course this game isn't going to ship until October, so other deals might come up, but this one sounds pretty good to me. I did put in an order and the $5 off coupon, at least, did work with this pre-order.

This deal is very tempting because I was going to get Phantom Hourglass even at full price if necessary. On the other hand, I know nothing about familyvideo.com so what are people's experience here with the store? I checked out the reviews at pricegrabber as well as looked up info in BBB.org, but I like to hear people's personal opinion. Oh, I don't mind the wait since I'm used to wait for things to ship and I don't care much about must have the game on release date. I'm more interested in how they deal with customers' problems.

i just got my order of persona3 today. it was backordered. ive read other people's responses about it, they said that familyvideo is a pretty reputable store. persona3 was just a fluke. that they didnt expect so many people to order from them. (they had the best deal on it that i know of). anyways, it came in perfect condition. id buy from them again.

about pricegrabber-will this work on games bought via ebay. games brought through online stores, i just print out the online receipt-i guess.

Bump for a great deal. In for one, thanks OP.

I was going to be nice and take the $3 coupon, but they kept having a server error when I tried updating my E-mail address, so I set up a new account and got $5 off :)

does anyone know how FV handles preorders? are they gonna charge my credit card right away and then just ship later? or are they gonna bill me when/after it ships?

Thanks for the Family Video link and the Pricegrabber info. I pre-ordered the game, and requested a price grabber $5 rebate... I have no problem writing a review for what will be a great game. Getting a $35 game for $26 is great, but for $21 its a steal!

I beat the Japanese version of PH.

The main quest will last you about 10 hours for an unaided first playthrough, and probably 20 hours for 100% completion. It's not a long game, and besides the stylus gimmicks (which start getting repetitive by the second half of the game), really offers nothing new.

The story presentation and content are simplistic and dull, with plot development concentrated at the beginning, end of the "middle" dungeon, and at the very end. (If you don't mind spoilers, you can read the plot summary I wrote on the Wikipedia article.) The music is terrible, with the dungeon theme for all eight levels consisting of the same five repeating notes.

If you're a very hardcore fan of this series, you'll want to add this game to your collection. Otherwise, my advice is to rent it, not buy it (or even skip it!) I know this contradicts many of the positive reviews out there, but I actually understood what was going on in the game and I've played every other game in this series to use as my measuring sticks.

Thanks for the review however right before a new Zelda comes out there's always someone who's played the Japanese version and picks it apart. And then I get it and love it. I'm thinking the same thing will happen here. Plus for $25.98 you can't really go wrong IMO.

I finally broke down and pre-ordered today. I was planning to pick it up anyway, and even if Target or CC features it for 5 bucks less than SRP the week of launch this is still the better deal.

I also ordered it for $26. Thanks for the heads up.

...here's to hoping it provides some good challenge for the purchase. Wind Waker was kinda easy.
I am almost positive Target/Best Buy/Circuit City will have it for 24.99~29.99 day one.
What reason do you have for being positive of that? Amazon lists the price as $34.99 and it is a big title.

Well, CC had some pretty big DS releases (Brain Age 2, NSMB, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, and Pokemon D/P are some of the ones I remember) pretty cheap on the week of release (at least $5 off MSRP), so it's not farfetched to believe that might be the case for Zelda. That's honestly the main reason why I haven't taken advantage of this deal. But if it looks like this won't be the case, I'll definitely be using this deal.

Thanks OP! I have such an insane back-log of games that waiting for this one won't make any difference to me. Might as well bag a bargain when possible!

I like the price here but with all the stuff about Heavenly Sword that happened to most CAGs that ordered from this site have put me off from ordering from this site. But if you're willing to wait a few extra weeks for your game for the discount thats awsome for you, I dont have the patience. Plus Halo 3 will keep me company till CoD4 and a good deal on Zelda:pH somewhere local.

If you have the patience to wait for a deal on Zelda local, why no patience for this deal?

I swear I don't work for familyvideo :p
Got it for $25.98 hopfully it comes quickly.
Ditto! At this point though, I have so many games pre-ordered it's hard to keep track of them all.
how the hell does this company consistently sell games well below retail??
Companies make money one of three ways:

1. Market Size
2. Market Share
3. Margin on Sales

I guess they're trying to tradeoff #3 for #1 and #2.
I forgot how long their .99 cent shipping takes. Anyone remember?
I usually receive my FamVid orders in about a week. I'm in Oklahoma City.

Weird. The existing customer coupon code isn't working for me anymore. I've used it once before, but on a different account.

I'm considering this, but if I add faster shipping (I want it by Friday), it probably wouldn't be such a deal anymore. Plus, if I buy it somewhere else, I could get a bonus item or something. The Wal-Mart or Toys R Us ones are looking pretty good right now...
