Edit: Oh sad day that they now are back to 19.99!

I put in this thread, but people (Edit: Indeed, Sir Roufuss) are saying it deserves its own thread.

The LE Zelda Guide with the gold trim and cloth map is $17.99 at Best Buy in store. In-store link:
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8174487&st=zelda&type=product&id=1162594204759

I didn't know this. I saw it at 19.99, decided using a GGC on it was good enough for me, so I checked out. I noticed the clerk was taking a little longer than I thought he would. Turns out it rang up 17.99, but he overrode the coupon's 19.99 limitation anyway, giving it to me for 12.99.

At the worst you can get it for 17.99, aye?

Edit: Wanted to add this - oddly, the LE guide was next to the other Prima guides (both the Wii and GC versions), and they were marked 19.99 as well. So go figure on that.

Edit 2: The bullet list on the back states "written specifically for the Wii version." Sorry Roufuss. :(

Edit 3: Holy shit. Appears to be 9.99 now. ....I OVERPAID THREE DOLLARS!!!
Can anyone tell me if this guide covers BOTH the Wii and Gamecube versions of the game? It's going to suck if it's Wii only, but at 432 pages I'm hoping it DOES cover both.
The existence of this kinda says that they're one game per guide :cold:

It's just a mirror of a difference, anyways.

I really want to pick this up at this price, but there are none in stock within 30-45 miles of me, according to Best Buy's website. There's one near where my father lives, and I thought of calling him and asking him to pick it up for me and mail it. Do you think it's worth the trouble and the extra cost I would need to pay for shipping, or do you think the item will restock in stores or online? I know it's limited edition and all, but I don't have any experience in how "limited edition" these sort of things are. Advice?

Man, I bought it at Bestbuy on Saturday and the price was $19.99. lol, only a $2 difference though, so no big deal. That's just one less shit game I'll buy and never play to make up the difference. :D

Anyway, great deal on what I consider the nicest strategy guide ever made. At least, nothing in my collection comes close.

If the GGC went through on this, that would be awesome. As it is, I dunno if it's worth driving 20 miles to go get the only one in the area.

Though I was planning on going that way for other stuff anyway...
Yay on an awesome deal!

And by people, Strell means me, a $12 savings is enough for its own thread ;)

I would like to know this as well. I'm going to pick it up either way, but is there any difference between the GC and the Wii version of the game?

Looks like the guides haven't made it to stores on the west coast yet I check online for stores in Washington and around Sacramento CA (my old hometown) and none of the stores have it in stock but I'll keep checking thanks for posting this

I thought this deserved a separate thread. I saw the hardcover Zelda guide at my local Best Buy for $20 last night. I assume it could be had for $15 with the gamer gift card coupon.

It looked like the normal price, with the normal yellow price sticker on it.

Dang, right after I posted this I saw someone else already did. Sorry about that, but I looked for it before I made a new thread.

I actually bought the guide at Gamestop at MSRP. If you're getting it as a guide, it's probably better to go online to find the information since the guide clumps the main quest and the sidequests into one section, meaning if you're poe, bug, or heart piece searching, it'll be inconvenient to go through 400+ pages to find that information.

If you're buying it for the names and some of the biographies, or you really want to follow the guide step-by-step, then by all means, get it. It also has a good number of illustrations, but IMO, it's missing a lot of key illustrations (like large illustrations of some of the main characters and scenes). I simply wanted to get this as soon as it came out so that I wouldn't miss out on such a awesome looking guide.

I found one! had to go to two best buys roughly 20miles apart but I got one, and love it, totally worth is (It looks kick ass on my shelf)
If you can't find it at BB and are trying to avoid paying full price, Amazon has it for $19.79. The availability is listed as 4-6 weeks, but I ordered it last week and received a shipping notification today. YMMV, but I thought I would mention it.

I just checked my Amazon order that I made like 3 weeks ago for the book and it is now showing a delivery date of Feb 24- 27 2007. What the fuck.

Hey I just wanted to let people know that BB's website has it at the same price and while it's sold out online this is a great way to know where you can actually pick it up :

EDIT: Sorry didn't try to place an order, won't allow you to place one but at least it helps a bit :)
Turns out it rang up 17.99, but he overrode the coupon's 19.99 limitation anyway, giving it to me for 12.99.
I got the same deal. Sweet.

I didn't even know best buy was going to carry it, I was happy just to get it since every ebgames in this area is out of them

Snagged two for $12.99 each. GGCs work without overriding anything even though it's under $20. She scanned both GGCs, but only one took, so she gave me the coupon back. Then she did something goofy and accidentally voided the other coupon scan, added it back, thought it didn't take, so overrode one of them - and then the coupon worked when totalled.

Only store in Cleveland to have them still had half a dozen left.

I picked up 2 for 17.99 each they werent even out in the best buy we went to. had to ask for them. what is GGC? didnt know i could get em for 12.99 . oh well.

Got one. Thanks OP, it looks so cool. They had 3, but one of them had a huge slice down the middle. I assume they cut into the box it was in and it was the first guide on top. Check your books over before you buy.

I might need to pick this up, even though I already have one coming from the Nintendo Powerdeal, just because it looks nice. I feel shallow.

I might check the local BB tomorrow (online says they have them). I finished the game last night, but wouldn't mind having a guide to go through and find all the extra stuff I missed.

Thanks again OP! I went during halftime of MNF and was able to get it for $14 flat, after GGC and taxes. BB was packed and I guess I got lucky using the GGC with all the rush. The tag clearly stated $19.99, but rang up $17.99. Regardless, this guide is well worth the money. I'm amazed:shock: at how well-crafted the guide actually is, and I suggest everyone to pick it up especially at this price. Here are a couple pictures:

The pages are also goldish bordered.

Hmmm I checked my stores avail. and there are none at my closest store. I wonder if they did sell out or if they didn't get them in yet. Either way i'm going to check tomorrow.

She went in the wherehouse and got them. She told they me that they were still in a box (only 12 or so) and thanked me for pointing it out. So be sure to bring a print out (because they'll most likely not know what you're talking about) or to ask if they have any in the back.

Ah damn, went to the MM and Santee BB's with no go and it was my mistake for not asking them, I just assumed that if I didn't see it on the shelf, that they didn't have any.

Going to go back tomorrow after school with a printout.

Thanks, Strell, for the headsup -- looks like my two closest BBs both have it in-stock, so I'm heading over at lunch with a website printout to pick one up. Great timing, since my son's birthday is tomorrow and Amazon just updated the status of my Prime-shipped order for this today to "Lost by carrier." :bomb: :bomb: :bomb:

Even though the BB Web Site Item Locater stated there where none at my store. I went today and found a shit load just sitting on the shelf. Picked mine up. Thanks Strell.

Some Roufuss's have all the luck -

Went to buy this at Best Buy, the thing came up $9.99. The cashier did nothing special, and both the ISBN and SKU on my receipt match Botticus's, who also got the book for $17.99.

All the cashier did was scan it and it just came up $9.99.

I have no clue why, or how, but it did.

$9.99 for this awesome guide? I thought $17.99 was a deal.
The hell? It changed to 9.99 online as well

Guess i'm going back for a price adjustment
You're right, it must have JUST done that, because I just looked and it was $17.99 as soon as I got home.

Best Buy is fucking crazy.
