Not sure how likely this will turn out but GS has the listing posted for the X360, PC and PS3. I'm sure if true we'll hear about it in the next couple weeks when E3 hits.

That would SOOOOO kick ass. Soldier of Fortune 2 was one of my favorite multi-player games, so much that I never played the single player campaign. I can only hope that SOF3 would hold the same MP standard ... I'm definately looking forward to E3.

They should have just let this series die, imo.

It was merely average back in the day (at least to me) and I don't think it's going to hold a candle at all to today's top FPS's.

Huh. Never thought we'd here from that one again...I wonder if Raven will be in charge? It just lists Activision as the developer, but then again, it's Gamestop.com, not exactly known for accuract in these matters.

I liked the first for the simple fact that it had such low system requirements taht it worked on my shit computer. I have since upgraded, gaming computer now, no more sucky games for me.

Yeah, it rocked. I get the feeling that people here who bashed it never actually played the multiplayer. I think the single player campaign was mediocre and only got about 20 minutes in to it, lol. If this is actually made by Raven, I'll buy it.

Apart from the violence, there is really nothing about these games that stands out as being more than mediocre. Why are you people getting excited over this? If somebody takes a shit on your porch, do you get excited? Because that's essentially what's being done.

My friend has been playing a fucking demo of Soldier of Fortune 2 almost daily since well before I met him. I played a few times, and couldn't figure out why he's so into it. He'll probably be excited about this.
If the first two games didn't have the over-the-top violence that they did, no one would remember it at all.
yep, thats pretty much why the games were fun

Again, I would venture to guess that those who thought the game was just "meh" didn't get into the MP. I agree that the single player was lack-luster, but there was something about the multiplay that hit home with me.

It was all about shooting somebody's leg off with a shotgun or making a perfect throw with a knive.

Don't ask me why one trailer has the ultra-gore, and the other doesn't, cause I really don't know. :/

Either way, that first one had my jaw on the floor. Just insane. This game is going to be awesome. I was worried about it, because it was being developed by Cauldron (a mostly budget game studio with a so-so reputation), but it looks like they've really stepped up to the plate for this one. I can't wait to blow some arms off. :D

This game is coming out next week, I'm surprised more people aren't interested in it!

As long as it get's decent reviews, I'll be sure to pick it up.

Yeah, WTF happened with this game, the lack of advertising and hype makes me think its going to suck. Also how the hell did the ESRB let this one through?

I guess the lack of hype can be attributed to the fact that there are just too many AAA games that are coming out just around the same time as this; regardless, I believe this will be a quality game.

I read somewhere that Infinity Ward actually helped out Activision a lot with this game (that seems obvious after looking at the graphics, guns, aiming, etc). I'd guess that if the game looks as good and plays as good as in the videos, it should get some decent reviews, say in the 8-8.5 range. People who played the second SoF say the online mode is fantastic, I hope it is the same for Payback! The sheer fun of the dismemberment in the single player mode will instantly give this game a huge amount of replay value, so I have nearly no doubts I will be playing this title for quite a while. That being said, I do hope Activision fixes up the enemy AI a bit...it looked sort of shitty in the videos.

As for the ESRB not stopping this game, I am also have no idea as to how it slipped by them...the amount of gore is astounding. Not really a bad thing though, one of the main reasons I'm getting this game is to just have so fun mindlessly gunning and maiming numerous terrorists.

Well, keep in mind that it's in the fray of COD4, Assassin's Creed, Super Mario Galaxy, Mass Effect, Rock Band, and a slew of other hyped titles; had it come out in February I'm sure it would have gotten a LOT more attention.

I wasn't complaining about the violence, I was mearly shocked that they didn't have to "tone it down".
Is the dismembering present while playing online matches?

I use to play SOF2 online almost religiously and got pretty good at it; and you are correct, it was a phenominal online experience. If SOF: Payback can achieve that same online presence I'll be sure to pick it up (probably used though looking at my funding).

It was in SoF2.

Nothing was more fun than blowing somebody's leg off with a shotgun or hitting them in the face with a throwing knive.

I'm glad you asked. :D

I just reserved this and Blacksite Area 51 yesterday after I traded in a bunch of crap at gamestop. Both games look like real fun.

I can't wait to play them I loved SOF2 on PC. I'm not a big PC gamer but that was one of the few games I have played for PC.
It's nice to see someone has the balls to do a game with gore or should I say realism.
I don't know that I would say realism, from the videos it looks like when someone gets shot blood erupts from their body like Mount Vesuvius. I will say that it does look pretty sweet though.

Seems like the framerate holds up and the explosions (and gore) look really good. For one reason or another I thought this was going to be a budget title (as in the price). For right now, CoD4 has me, but this will be worth plodding through later this year or next, looks fun :)

i was hoping to see a SOF for 360. sof2 was my fav game. I still put it in but no one is on.

On live so many people hated the nade launcher & auto shotty. I loved them all and liked seeing the nad launcher first in the video.

i cant wait to see more vids on the game.
Any reviews so far? I'm interested to see how this comes out.
I have it.

It's basically shit, but it's also AWESOME (read: WOO HOO I BLEW THIS DUDE'S ARM OFF AND I CAN SEE BONES STICKING OUT HAHAHAHA AWESOME). If it weren't for it being so AWESOME, it'd probably be one of the worst FPSes of the season.

To just make a broad statement, it really does feel like the budget game it really is (the developer makes budget games) in most regards, though the graphics are quite nice, though nothing really to stand out from the crowd.

So, it's a pretty generic FPS, with a healthy dose of AWESOME to give it some unique identity, and make it fun if you're in the right mood. This game is strictly for the AWESOME, not for cutting-edge, refined FPS gameplay, and really, there's nothing wrong with that. Not every game needs to be Bioshock or Crysis.
