Just one more day of annoying political ads...

jmcc

CAGiversary!
How I do hate them! And these stupid-ass phone calls featuring recordings of famous jerks. The voting process would be a lot better off if candidates were only allowed to campaign in person. No TV, no radio, no mail (neither E nor analog varieties.) Sure, it would probably kill some of the older or weaker runners, but what better test of a president's mettle than a 6 months of non-stop cross country tour?

true that. I hate political ads especially the banners and signs that are all over the side of the street that they never pick up after the election

What I want to know is why the hell EVERY politician says...

"My name is ____ and I approve this message."

When the hell did that stupid crap start? I don't remember any politicians saying that during the last round of elections. Even local guys are saying it.

Who says it'll end after tomorrow? In South Carolina, there was an election in dispute from last year. They just finished all the run-offs and re-votes last month. Yes, took them 11 months to resolve it and the candidates were allowed to campaign the entire time.

Yeah, I see another recount episode happening if things are even romotely close in a state that could swing things in the other direction. I expect things to get ugly

I've gotten so many calls from famous people. It can't go away!

So far I've heard from (via recording duh):
George W. Bush
Dick Cheney
John Kerry
John Edwards
Bill Clinton
Arnold Schwartzenegger
Bart Starr

Plus, our town of 50,000 has become a magnet for celebrity endorsers. We've had visits from Jon Bon Jovi, Sharon Stone, and Leonardo DiCaprio.

Who am I kidding, I wish it would stop now. But I know that tomorrow I'm going to get 10,000 calls from people reminding me to vote.

hell tomorrow is just the beginning. there are probabbly law suits in every state just waiting to be filed by one or the other canidate depending on who wins . They will cry for recount after recount and then say loads of ballots where lost . I be willing to bet this is far from over, more like the begining

It's the law, they have to.

I will be so happy for even a break in the election ads... it's so bad here I barely remember all the old commericals that used to piss me off. However, it has been rather neat, if inconvienant at times having all parties of both tickets here at least once in that last 6 days

No they don't, unless the law passed was recent. I seem to remember John Kerry or George Bush saying it then the other candidate jumped on the bandwagon and it seems now most of the local candidates as well are doing it.
Supposedly my dad has gotten a recorded phone call from that asshole Kris Kobach. Hopefully since he's such a hardline Conservative and Moore is a Moderate Democrat he'll wipe Kobach's ass out just by Democrats and Republicans voting for him.

Moore pissed me off at the "Rock the Vote" concert. Instead of making a statement of what he stood for or what he planned on doing, he brought out a guitar and played fucking "This land is your land". All the underage dumbfucks went crazy for it too.
one more day and people will stop telling em to vote when i dont want to
I've gotten those calls too. "Remember to vote!" It makes me want to not vote just to spite them, like how I want to start smoking to make those awful "truth" ads totally ineffectual. The best part of the one today was them asking for my email address. I guess they figured I, like most people, didn't get enough garbage email in the course of a week and needed some more.
Moved to the proper forum.
What?! Boo! There's nothing controversial about this. Everyone hates this real world spamming campaign!

Well I know the guitar thing is suppose to be his schtick. Don't be surprised about the stand thing. There's some test that Moore refused to answer and McCain and some other Democrats and Republicans WANT him to fill it out as well.
Honestly though I like Moore, he's not a Homophobe like Kobach and he voted against the Partial Birth abortion bills. Now don't get me wrong, I'm against Partial Birth abortions but not when the life of the mother comes into play and I know at least ONE bill introduced that did not take that into account.
I'm sure there are some other issues I might agree with him on, like being against "The Patriot Act". To be honest though the one candidate I'm really impressed with even though he won't win is Lee Jones. He was outlining the depth of how this outsourcing thing works with taxes and I was almost utterly disgusted. One thing I didn't agree with him on was the Estate Tax bit. I thought he allowed it to go up too high.
Btw thanks for the link "Sam and Max". I thought it was just some cheesy bit from a candidate, I didn't know it was from a McCain/Feingold bill.
Who the hell is Max Feingold anyway? Is he a lot like McCain on his platforms?

I've been getting those recorded calls too.

I had one from Clinton and then Hal Linden about Social Security. On caller ID they came up as 000-000-0000 or 111-111-1111 so now when I'm seeing those numbers I'm just ignoring them. I've had like 7 in since Friday.

I've actually found this years ads disturbingly dishonest. Moveon.org aired one for about 10 days that stopped a week or so ago that was the absolutely most tasteless ad I've ever seen, forget any aspect of truth, it was just tasteless. My dad's female freind commented on it, we were watching football, and couldn't believe any candidate would want that kind of support.

Quite frankly the hardest hitting ads this year have been...

1. Swit Boat Vets: POW's talking about Kerry's post war activities.
2. RNC's gathering wolves.
3. DNC's empty factory with a record player with clips of Bush's speeches sounding like scratchy records with a litany of economic points (Some true, untrue and misleading.).

Those have been, IMHO, the most effective three. Then again... I"m biased.

I agree with ya quack, forget the campaiging, what the hell did wolves do to be compared to terrorists. Just leaves the wolves out of it and focus on real terrorists.
