Not such a good deal if you already snagged Civ, Xcom, and/or Bioshock from previous sales. An awesome compilation for everyone else.

Good deal if you don't own any of em for sure. Already have Bioshock and Prey on 360 myself, plus I'm not much a PC gamer, but good deal nonetheless.

These mega deals don't appeal to me since I only buy games that I know I will play a good amount of, and I 'd have to stop sleeping to get thru all the games in a pack as big as this.

You could probably get most (read: the good ones) of these games for less individually (and boxed) through other vendors.

I'm still failing to see why this deal wouldn't appeal to you. It's the price of one game. Only, you're getting many many games. The fact that you wouldn't even get through all of these games, because there's so many of them, makes your statement even more confusing to me.

Maybe I'm thinking too logically about it?

Anyway, this is an extremely tempting deal, even if I have played most of these games.

He's probably thinking that he'll never play ALL of the games in the pack, and he could probably find the ones he does want to play for a cheaper price. Bioshock was $5 during the holiday sale for example. And I think there was a deal on the X-com games a few months back.

Here's an even more logical possibility - maybe the guy knows that he wouldn't play most of the games in the package, thus effectively lowering its personal value for him. THUS, he decides not to buy it.

I'm pretty sure that they'll give you a gift copy if you already have the title in your steam account. Still my back catalog is way to backed up to even think about buying games.

That's right.

No, they won't.

You never, ever, ever get duplicate giftable copies of games on Steam that you already own, and then buy again as part of a pack.

The only exceptions to this rule are HL2 (if you owned HL2 and then bought The Orange Box), the HL2 episodes (if you owned any of them, and then bought The Orange Box, or the HL2 Episodes Pack), and Left 4 Dead (and that's only if you buy the L4D Four-pack)

great deal if I hadn't just bought the Civ IV Complete Pack when they had it on sale for $36 about a month ago :| seriously Steam? why can't I gift those?

Not for a CAG. I've never paid that much for a game.

Sid Meier's Railroads is on Steam. HELL YEAH.

Either way, this combo pack has so much good crap, it is hard for me to then say it might NOT be worth $53.

If you did not own a SINGLE game from that pack, it'd be a phenomenal deal. But if you did, then you probably already own the games you most want to play from the pack. Ergo, not really worth the money.

Did you never play a video game before June 2005?

You find it hard to believe that I've never paid $54 or more for a video game? The most I've ever paid is $35, for the occasional PS2 game that I had to have on release day. Hell, I've never paid more than maybe $12 for any of my 360 games.

So, just saying, not everyone considers this pack on Steam to be the cost of one game. More like 5 games at your typical patient CAG price.

It depends on your age, I guess. I know that, before I signed up for CAG, was paying the full $50 for most games; $60 or more back in the N64 days (never bought my own SNES games since I was a kid with no money). I checked the ads weekly, but I had no other source of info on deals.

Got the $5 BioShock at the end of last year, and bought the Freedom Force games on sale ($7?) even though I had pre-ordered the sequel (for $50 :) ) when it came out.

Still, I think I might buy this, especially if I can gift Bioshock and FF.

It's a great starter pack for someone who hasn't gotten into PC gaming.

The Civilization games you can easily get $50 worth of play out of. Bioshock is superb, one of the best games this decade. Railroads and XCom are both classic awesome PC gaming.

If I didn't already own 75% of these, I'd pick it up.

Good crap, indeed. I was thrilled when I saw the headline. Then scrolling through the offered games, I was disappointed to find I was only lacking Colonization, Beyond the Sword, Shattered Union, and RR Tycoon 2&3.

If you don't have many of these games, this is a great pack of diverse & high quality fun. (Missing Jade Empire, though).

You might want to edit the Game Crazy symbol just in case people think is a retail release....

Otherwise, this is a pretty brutal package for the price...too bad I own most of them :(

I have never used Steam before. If I got this, I would assume the games would come as individual installs... not one big (BIG :p) one?

Also, can you install things on more than one computer?

You purchase as a pack, then all games are listed separately in your account. You could then download/install whichever ones you want. On the multiple machine, it just depends upon the DRM, if there is any included by the developer or just the steam standard. You can't be online with the same Steam account on two different computers though.

Each game is a separate install so you can install/uninstall any one at any time. Since it goes by account you can have the games on as many machines as you like.

I own almost all of those games and I'm still tempted... If for no other reason than to have backup copies readily available, and never have to enter the codes, again.

Anyone who doesn't own a majority of those games should own them. Almost every one of them is an absolutely gem. Hell, all the Civ games are worth that all by themselves. Nevermind the fantastic Sid Meier's Railroads, Bioshock, and Xcom games. This is a major steal.
This is very tempting but with my terrible connection it would take days to dload all of them :(
You are not required to download all of them at once nor are you locked to one download. You could, if you wanted, buy the games now, and download the one that you want. Play it, and whenever you feel like it, start downloading another, whether it be a week from then or a month from then.

I would get this if I could gift some of the games away as I really only want half those games and my friend would like some of the other games. Good deal, but it's only a six dollar savings off the regular price so I'm in no rush to grab this though I'm tempted now that I see it is available.
