Is it just me, or do some cars have excessively bright headlights?

CAGiversary!
They might as well have their fucking high-beams on. Is there some kind of regulation on how bright someone's headlights can be? I mean, I purposely divert my gaze from the lights of opposing traffic when I drive at night, focusing on the street lines and the car in front of me. But when I'm being blinded by a light I'm not even looking at, it has to be excessive. It's not just a problem from opposing traffic either. Cars with bright headlights behind you are just as distracting and make it difficult to switch lanes on the highway. Seriously, are headlights THAT BRIGHT necessary?

I'm one of those jerks with HID (high-intensity-discharge) lights on my car & with my stereo system I doubt I'd ever hear your stereo antlp89.

Only problems I've had (other than when my windshield is dirty) is with the...they look like blue headlights. Those fuckers are pretty bright.

I've also found headlights to be excessively bright. I wondered if it was because I hardly ever go outside, so my eyes aren't conditioned for light that bright. But holy crow, I can't even see the lines on the road sometimes.

This really depends on the car.

My car has HID headlights (the blue lights) from the factory. I don't consider them excessively bright. The light they put off is amazing in comparison to a regular headlight.

I've seen people switch out their headlight bulbs with aftermarket lights. These can get extremely annoying, especially when some jerkoff decides he wants to get the brightest possible bulb he can to put on his Honda Civic.

I think what annoys me more are those jackasses that drive around with their bright lights on in traffic. It's like they have no care in the world and ignore the fact that they're blinding everyone in front of them. Luckily my mirrors auto adjust, but it's still damn annoying.

I hate those fucking headlights, its not that they are brighter than normal lights its just the color of the light hurts my eyes and I have a hard time even telling where the car is exactly because all I can see are those damn lights piercing into my brain.

I usually see them on big ass over priced cadillac or bmw suv's or something else like that where they not only kill my eyes at night but are also right at my heads level for maximum annoyance.

Normal yellowish headlights dont bother me, the more pure white light headlights dont bother but its something about those blueish tinted ones that make it hard to see if they are anywhere in my line of vision.

Holy Crow???

It's not the overly bright that pisses me off. It's some of the fuckers who get in a fender bender so their lights get shifted from down to forward. They can pull up behind you and blast right into the car.
Just wear some sunglasses.
This is correct. You are not cool if you do not wear sunglasses at night. Especially indoors, the ladies really love that shit.

Everyone buys those white/blue/purple-ish or deep yellow lights now because they're $10-20 a set on ebay and its a cheap upgrade over stock lights. The problem is people will often (on purpose or mistakenly) misalign and aim their headlights incorrectly that would cause problems to the driver in front of them. Another problem is they'll never get in trouble because its hard to enforce something like that.

Simple solution is to go as dark as possible with the window tints, i recommend 15% since anything darker than that will catch unwanted attention from the police !

My headlights and foglights are brighter than burning hell, my stereo is louder than a thunderstorm, and my exhaust is fartier than myself running on 4 bean burritos. Win.

I hate trucks too. When you're in a car, the higher height of a truck makes its normal headlights look like brights. Why does every asshole in Michigan have to drive a pickup truck/SUV? Dude, you live in the fucking suburbs and the last perilous journey you went on was a trip to Meijer to buy some Hot Pockets!
Clean your windshield
Hm, you're right it does need a cleaning. I have some spots on my windshield that have a weird film on it and feel greasy.
How do you feel about the excessively loud mufflers, or those that go "Wooooo-woooooo"?
Heh, attention whores don't really bother me. Admittedly, a while back I had a hole develop in my exhaust pipe that made my car sound like I had one of those loud mufflers installed. I had all sorts of dicks trying to race me at traffic lights. Thing is, I drive a full sized sedan and never understood why people would think I'd wanna race in a fucking boat.

Wouldn't that make it harder to see at night? I guess I'd have to be one of those assholes with bright headlights to see better.

i hate ultra bright lights. but even more than those i hate trucks and suvs with bright lights. since i just have a sedan, when a big vehicle gets behind me the lights are higher up and are very distracting.

I'd totally have to agree with you, some headlights are just too bright. And the sad thing is, they're stock lights. The other day, I literally had to come to a stop in the middle of the road, simply because the guys lights were so bright that I couldn't see anything. At first I just thought my eyes were sensitive, but I guess I'm not the only one who thinks that these new lights are just too bright. There's nothing wrong with the old lights, why upgrade to blind people?
