but now the douche that bought it is saying the code doesn't work. I just opened the game up so I know its not used. I guess there is the chance the code was/is no good but I think its more likely he used it. I am pretty sure I am boned and out the code and the money. Is that right? Is there anything I can do?

Did you send the buyer the actual card with the code still sealed? You might be ok if so. Otherwise, expect to be out one code.

Nope I e-mailed him the code and I was going to mail the card to him tomorrow. I guess I am reminded of why I haven't used ebay in over a year. Stupid douches are everywhere on ebay.

Because ebay will side with the buyer you may lose out. However, what system was the code for? I know that Sony will tell you the date/time a code was redeemed but not who redeemed it for privacy reasons, if microsoft does something similar you could use this to your advantage. I'd try to obtain this and then pressure the dude by saying the time stamp on the email and the time the code was used blah blah blah and see if you can scare him but if not your probably out the code and money.

Yeah it was for PS3. I will contact Sony about it. Thanks.

When I sell cards, I take pictures of the card to email to the customer and I also remind them to be wairy of the 2s and the Zs since they can easily be confused. Maybe give that a try?

I tried that but the dude is just being a dick. He used the code and now is trying to screw me over.

Ok it was for PS3. Thats good. You can check the code.

Go to https://store.playstation.com/login.gvm then login.

Go to redeem the code and enter it. If it still lets you use it DO NOT ACTUALLY USE IT. Cancel it and sign out (there is a cancel button). It's still valid.

If it does NOT let you use it, what does it say? It's been redeemed? Or the code is invalid?

If it's redeemed, he used it. If it's invalid, he is telling the truth. If it's still useable tell him you checked it and it's still valid. Remind him how to redeem the code.

Alternatively use the code yourself just so he cant, tell him he's a lying douche bag and to go get fucked. You'll lose the money but at least he wont get your code. Post his ebay name so we know who to avoid if it turns out he's lying. I sell codes all the time so would definitely like to know who to add to the block list.

It says its been redeemed the max amount times. He just filed a case and ebay already gave him his money back. Got to love ebay. What a bunch of shit.

Let him know you will be contacting sony to check the validity of the code. If he is lying he might change his tune.

Oh I did and I told ebay too. Didn't matter the asshole already got his money back.

splakdaddy420 is his screen name so if you sell codes on ebay I'd avoid him. Oh well I learned my leason, I'd rather sell stuff on here for half price than ever deal with ebay again.

I would still get the time stamp and provide it to ebay. they might give you the money anyways. and for that matter i'd tell sony that it is for a dispute on ebay and they might even give you the user name that he used to redeem it with.

I e-mailed Sony already but I will probably give them a call in the morning. Hopefully they will help me since ebay isn't going to help me at all. Its so dumb I can't even leave the asshole negative feedback.

Did you check the code? Did it say he redeemed it? If youre confused I can check the code for you, not that you have any good reason to trust me.

I knew that name was familiar. Is he "buying" and then reselling the codes? He messaged me the other day complaining my Buy It Now price was too low and was pushing down sales prices on everyone elses codes. Funny enough it was for the same code youre talking about.

I see he is selling a borderlands GOTY code. Maybe he needs a taste of his own medicine.

Edit: There are always ways to coerce him into giving you the money back or not using your code if he hasnt already..
I think I'll buy his Borderlands code later tonight. I bet it won't work though....
If he's smart he's already blocked your account from buying. He probably isnt though.

Did he use the code or not? Follow the steps in that post with the link I posted. If not we can try and make sure he doesnt.

A scammer who not only buys on the same account but also sells on it too. Not smart.

Anyway it looks like he had several of the same codes for sale until ebay warned about about e-mailing dlc codes. My guess is since he couldn't resell the ones he bought he used them and falsely claimed they didn't work.

Since he is a competitor seller you might be able to report him as a malicious bidder.

Don't do it with an account with the same address as the one on your selling on.

He definitely used the code, I followed the steps in the post you left and it said it was used. This dude is douche. I will contact ebay again after I get more information from Sony about when and maybe even who used the code. I don't expect much to come of it though. I do have his address though so maybe I should sign him up for some gay porn or something. Or just post it all over the internet.

Oh well lesson learned, I blocked him, made a fake e-mail and sent him an e-mail. I'll contact ebay again after Sony verifies the time the code was used etc. Then I'll drive to FL and kick his ass ;). Well maybe all except that last part. Well my return to ebay lasted one day and then I remembered why its such a piece of shit.

Well like I said I was getting ready to send the card to him tomorrow but he wanted the code now so I figured I'd e-mail it to him.

It sucks and I really feel for you, but when people sell these things for so much its going to attract the wrong people too. I honestly don't know why people pay so much for any of this but what the hell do I know right.

If I had any need for the code I'd care at lot more, I already gameshared the maps. Its not really losing the code that pisses me off, its that fact that ebay is so stupid. It would seem to me that it would be very easy to go on there and rip off tons of people. Then get away with it to boot since ebay always sides with the buyer. There will always be douches in anything that involves money, its just the way it is even on here. So I just learned my lesson which is fuck ebay.

Yeah, I've read a lot of threads here about how horrible Ebay is running things. They went from weeding out bad sellers to letting buyers do what ever the hell they wanted. I've had an Ebay account for 5 years now and have only used it to buy things. I've had a lot of shitty seller's so I'm glad what Ebay has done as far as recourse for honest people but that doesn't protect the honest sellers from the shitty people.

If loosing the code really bothers you that much, just exchange it and say it didn't work properly, maybe that can loosen up some of your frustration.

That's the shit you deal with on eBay. Get over it. There's really nothing you can do about it. It sucks. It's happened to me with multiple codes worth a lot of money. The worst being a $43 code. Ever since then I've stopped emailing codes. I send them out through the mail all the time with some sort of tracking. Tip: Throw packing peanuts in a mailer to get it to the 3/4" thickness requirement for delivery confirmation. Most scammers won't scam you if they know you have your bases covered.
I'll be perfectly honest, I report these to ebay when I see them. Well, just the ones that say code will be emailed.
Why?
Did you check the code? Did it say he redeemed it? If youre confused I can check the code for you, not that you have any good reason to trust me.
Before the OP even sent the code he could have just checked it himself. It would give the option of CONFIRM DOWNLOAD or CANCEL.

If he would CANCEL then the code would still be redeemable on another account or 360. I don't see why he didn't do this in the first place.

Now if he tries the code, of course, it may say that THE CODE HAS ALREADY BEEN USED/ INVALID CODE.

:whistle2:?

*above scenario is with the 360. Any different with PSN?

It's all unnecessary. The buyer was a scammer/thief/liar. They will tell you whichever story suits them best.

It sucks that this happened to you, but i'd like to add something to this. To those members here on cag who say "but on ebay it's selling for this price" you take a risk to whereas on here, you have feedback and nicer people to do business with. I always get people who want $40+ for a halo reach legendary edition code because that's the going price on ebay, but c'mon this is cag. I haven't used ebay in years and am now reminded to as why.

Quite possibly but there will always be that reasonable doubt since the OP never tested the code himself.

always mail the card itself, never email the codes. if you did mail the card to them with tracking and used paypal, file a dispute and you will win as it was physical product you can prove sending.

i vote we assault this guy with this shit. buy up all his codes and pull this.

edit: looks like somebody else already hit him with it. awesome. these guys are scum and deserve to be banned from online shopping/selling

Too bad he only sells PS3 stuff. I can't redeem ps3 stuff since i only use Xbox 360. I would totally contribute to screwing him over.

I feel a lot less sorry for the seller looking at his current auctions. Selling info that is available via game guides and the internet rather than an actual code. BTW if anyone doesn't know how to unlock Zombie map 5 go to the computer and type 3arc unlock.

I can't believe it after reading this post. This guy just bought my copy of Borderlands GOTY edition and refused to pay for it. It has the DLC on the disc and can be installed and used without a code. He said he won the auction so that I wouldn't be cheating/lying to another user because DLC only comes from a store. He even threatened to give me a negative feeback and laughed because I couldn't leave him a negative for not paying.
