Crysis 2 out! Sans DX11

oh no a high profile game leaks before the release date!

it will still sell quite a lot.

I still feel bad for the developers regardless, though. I'll be picking this up on the :360:.. at least they'll get my $ :)

Man, that sucks. It's too bad when shit like this happens.

Is it bad that I'm super tempted to try it out? I've been watching some Crysis2 vids and I'm pretty excited about it at the moment.

I played the Half Life 2 leaked. Not worth the 8gb download file, and playing on an incomplete wiremesh level was only fun for the first 20mins or so.

Anyways, Don't care about leaked Crysis 2 beta. I spent a long time playing the first 2 games, and this game better deliver (especially on the Multiplayer aspect).

Man I hope that many people dont download it...I would hate to see Crytek get crook'd. Plus I dont think anyone wants to download a 9.3 GB beta lol.

You will be surprised. Many people would steal a beta/alpha build game and then post on other forums about how come they can not get it work correctly....and then use this as an excuse to dump on PC gaming.

But a lot of people probably will since it is the full game and multilayer (just not polished). Plus, its always neat to have betas/alphas.

LOL like what many people did for the Doom 3 E3 demo build that leaked? xD

I just hope they don't use this as fire for 'see, piracy hurt our sales waaaaaaaaaah!' after they sell 2 million copies again. . .

Quite honestly, the only thing this can really do is demo their game and promote sales TBH. Pirates were already not going to buy it when it eventually leaked anyways.
I've played it. It's really, really buggy. Not worth the download at all.
sounds like some creepy Asian insect porn I downloaded.

PROOF! Crysis 2 sucks and shouldn't be bought! Goddamn Crytek and their bugs...

You do realize that you're basing your views on this game entirely based on an incomplete beta, right?

He's being facetious. How can you possibly not pick up on that?

Hey, I can never be too sure. People love being stupid. Look at all the people who believe Obama is a Muslim. They sure love being stupid.

To be serious, the game looks good. I just don't know if I want it for PC or the 360.

Probably the 360 initially, and I'll pick it up on Steam later, but it depends on how much I like it.
People have gotten Hamachi multiplayer going, I haven't played myself but I've seen some videos. The 360 demo was not a good indicator for map size, there are MUCH better maps out there.

Here's a clip show with a few maps in it.

I'm digging the music in that clip.
Also, the part where he is in the building looks like a COD map

uh, who cares. i'm sure this is really going to hurt their million dollar wallets. Maybe instead of the CEO's taking a 2 million dollar bonus they will have to settle for only 1 million. boo-hoo.

this sux. i am extremely against piracy and shit like this is why i have to buy a xbox. devs are now always delaying launch of PC versions now. :(

What makes this best is this is mostly likely a internal leak to the web, No one should have had that beta build but dev or producer. So really attacking the pirates here is unjust.. there was nothing for them to hack.... some one pooped out the beta...
For those who have played the beta, are the system requirements through the roof? I'm getting a video card soon and can't decide on a GTX 460 or 470.
I have not played, but I've heard it's pretty easy to max.

Anything over an 8800 should do just fine on medium/high settings and DX9.

A friend of mine has played the game, and has pretty similar hardware to mine (see sig). Very playable and gorgoues on High at 1400x900.

You know what, I hope Crytek releases an official demo of the game just so I could really test my system. I mean, I'll still buy it no matter what and truthfully the game is still 'pretty' at medium settings (if Cysis 1 and Warhead was any indication). I just want to know how far I could push an old C2D chip at 2.2ghz, stock.

The beta is locked at DX9.

Noted, thanks for the info. Maybe I'll bum him for the data and I'll give it a whirl. Maybe.

Yeah, everybody at Crytek is a millionaire, so it's OK to steal from them!

holy shit look how long it takes to kill someone at the 1:00 mark in the vid. it was a full assault rifle clip and 2-3 pistol clips.

He must have had maximum armor on (the yellow glow).

Saw some footage on youtube and it looks very pretty even on medium, way better than 1 imo (but i prefer urban over jungle). Still not sold on the gameplay as I didn't like 1 at all, but I smiled when I heard the pirates complaining about it being "consolized". Now there's a good chance the game will be fun.

I dunno, there seemed to be several points where enemies took ridiculous amounts of bullets before dying.

Not that it's a bad thing I guess, if everyone's tough to kill it's still balanced. Just a different game dynamic from a lot of more recent games, like BC2, where you die in two or three shots usually.

I hope the demo runs up until release. I've got some friends coming to LAN from the 17th to the 20th, it'd be awesome to be able to play some Crysis 2 multiplayer.

Managed to create an account and play for an hour or so last night. Everything feels like it has weight to it. The guns have almost NO recoil. Watched a killcam of somebody killing me with an auto-shotgun. I'm pretty sure I didn't even see a recoil animation. And it feels like there is some slight input lag. You don't jump when you hit space bar, you jump about 0.25 seconds after you hit space bar. It takes some getting used to.

Anyway, all of that could be associated with the servers (who were getting hammered last night), I'll try again today and see if it's any better.

Game looks nice though and runs decently well on my 8800GTS 512. Think I'll stick with the SP campaign though.

The jumping is due to the fact that you can charge it to do a jump that's higher but uses energy. As for the recoil, I guess that's supposed to because hurr durr I'm in a multi million dollar suit, but I totally agree, it's ridiculous.
Ditto.

Game just feels like Halo in a nano-suit. I'll pass.
Honestly, if it were Halo in a nanosuit I'd be sold. The game just feels to chunky to me with not entirely responsive controls and lack of some crucial options (Crouch toggle off please?)

I can only hope this is because they have separate teams working on MP and SP, and that the SP team will smack Crytek UK upside the head for the demo and that the full version will be much cleaner.

Yeah, the shotgun does not have any recoil. On top of that, it's an auto-shotgun. I was using it earlier and raping people with it. There really isn't any sort of counter to it.

Also, with the assault rifle, it takes a ridiculous amount of shots to kill someone, even with their armor off. You can literally pump a full clip into an enemy and they'll just be able to walk away.

Last thing I'm going to bitch about is the FOV. I'm not playing on my 51" TV that I sit 5-10 feet away from, I'm sitting at my computer with a monitor that's a 1-2 feet in front of my face. There's no need for the FOV to be so insanely jammed in your face. I'd have no issue if I could actually change the fucking thing, but nooooo.

Really, really not feeling this game at all, and judging by people on other forums, neither are a lot of people. It just sucks because if they do poor sales, they're just going to blame it on the leak rather than realizing that maybe their game just isn't that great. Oh well, yet another developer that's ditched PC gaming for consoles.

The thing that irks me the most isn't that it's a bad port, it's that they've been saying for months that the game was made for PC, and the consoles were getting the table scraps.

I don't mind table scraps, just don't lie to me and tell me I'm getting the filet mignon.

Regardless of the consolization, the whole urban setting really put me off since I prefer the vistas of Crysis. That and more aliens. The first game just slowed down so much once the aliens showed up and I would actually just restart the campaign a lot once I got to those parts. I really feel like Crytek has lost their way as a developer. :\

Yeah. I love that when you start the game, it says "Press Start to Continue". Really? You cant even be bothered to localize the opening screen for the PC? I also really enjoy the custom graphics options...three basic settings.

LOL! Well, at least they get props for leaving PS3 prompts in over 3shitty. I wouldn't worry too much since the modding community will tear this apart and release modded configs to fix their awfulness.

According to this link Crysis 2 will ship with only DX9 and DX11 will be patched in "some time after" the game releases.

If this is true, Crytek can seriously piss off.
