NICE! Someone thats been waiting to pick up the Kinect has a nice chance this time around....although 4 AAA games seems like a lot....you figure about $40/game in TIV = $160....i mean the Kinect is $149.99 in stores and $139.99 at Costco...so.... you end up saving on the taxes i guess...

Still glad FS is attempting the whole Trade X and get a free X!

Much better than EB's $5 price markup on everything! I've completely stopped buying and preordering from EB because of that BS!

It blows my mind why EB is charging an extra $5 on almost all new games. I seriously pre-order any new game from Blockbuster or pick it up from Futureshop. EB must be making most of its money on used game sales these days.

Used game sales really is the key to their business model which is why I don't buy from them (well that and I don't want gutted games). Their prices are outrageous but pretty much everything in Canada is too expensive.

I can understand that that's their business model and thats what they make the most money off....what i just don't get is why they also screw the consumer on the used game prices too!!! I mean come on...they are still charging $34.99 for a USED copy of Uncharted 2 (Not GOTY)...

why would i buy that when i can get a fresh copy from FS/BB/whatever for $29.99 or take advantage of specials like 2 for $40?!!!!!

EB/Gamestop is Horrible!:bomb:

The general population doesn't know any better. Most people go and buy used games from EB thinking its a deal, I know for sure that most of my friends buy their games from EB. Unfortunately those are the kinds of people that keep EB in business. Ignorance definitely helps them.

If you think they are "Screwing the customer", then you should think virtually every other retailer is too. Gamestop's gross and net margins are in line with virtually any other retailer. They all have to cover the cost of operating their stores and have something left over

I think just about every retailer dealing in used games is screwing the customer, and the desire to make money does not absolve greedy behaviour.

Haven't shopped at EB in ages, but when did this $5 stupid tax thing start? Do they honestly think there are no alternatives to buy video games from? It's kind of baffling when they charge $5-10 more than Bestbuy and Futureshop; neither of which are small, obscure businesses. Are kids today really so stupid that they've forgotten how to comparison shop?

For those that still want to get Super Mario All Stars you can order from futureshop.ca they have about 150 on back order (Limit 1 per household). Some FS store location might have stock too.
BestBuy has the game at $34.99.

Pretty soon you'll have to pay a cover charge for the privilege of entry (or know the bouncer).

That. :D

Wish I had qualifiers though. Silly me buying games to play. lol.

You're comparing refurbs versus Walmart, the biggest department store.
You just need the proper mindset, ie the one of the common consumer.

You know, the mindset that was responsible for Kinect to sell 10 million.
A case of 1000 bags costs around $10...
You know this for a fact? Because where I work, when we order a case of 1000 bags is close to $40
EB is now charging 99 cents for plastic bags.
Plastic? Are you sure that's not the price for the reusable shopping bags?

I remember trading in 3 games and the guy said I get a free Gamestop shopping bag because I traded in 3 games or more.

I recall looking at the bags on the wall thinking, "Ooooh, 99 cents, can't wait to tell all my friends about THIS!"

It looks like BB is having another weekend sale, 10% off selected video games.

Mar 12th 6pm est to Mar 13th 11am est

Cool, maybe preorders will be apart of this. I already know I'm getting Portal 2 and Mortal Kombat so saving an extra 5-6$, plus the RZ points will make April 19th a little bit less expensive.
I paid 5 cents for a bag at Indigo and they charged me 1 cent tax on it! Maybe this is standard, I don't normally buy a bag or check my receipt if I do.
I love it when the sales person forget to ask you if you want a bag until after you've already paid and they get confused for a few seconds not knowing how to handle the situation. Yes I'd like a bag not I don't have 5 cents.

Are people excited about Mario Allstars because of nostalgia? It's a $30 SNES game consisting of mostly NES games right? I can understand buying it for collectability but aside from that it doesn't seem like a good value. Maybe it's cheaper than buying the virtual console versions of all those games, I don't know. Just wondered.

Has anyone seen some place with 16GB USB drives on sale? I need one for my 360, and I can't seem to find too great of a deal on them anywhere. Hmmm...

You miss out on Staples one day sale couple weeks ago.

No, I don't. That number is probably 5 years old (the plastic market could've easily changed in the meantime), and I noticed it while working at a distribution warehouse, so I really have no idea what it costs retail stores to get the case from a warehouse. Especially considering I knew they're only $10, so I freely mishandled them all the time

Still, nobody charges more than 5¢ for bags around here. You can usually get them for free most everywhere.

The online Shoppers Drug Mart flyer has

Wii bundle (console, Wii Sports + Sports Resort, Wii motionplus) $179.99
PS3 160GB bundle with LBP and Blu-Ray remote $329.99 (comes with 22,000 bonus points)
PSP 3000 with bonus travel case $129.99
PSP Go with bonus travel case $149.99 (new price I believe)
PSP LocoRoco 2 $4.99
PSP LBP $14.99

...and other random gaming items at regular price

In Toronto pretty much every single store charges 5 cents for a bag. I saw one sign at a pet store that the money goes toward an animal charity or something. I thought the money went to the government.

I love the weeks that FS and BB do all regular price items as features. Keeps me from having to do any maths.

All the money when/if you buy a plastic bag from the store goes into their own pocket (unless they choose to give it to charity).

Yep, the point of it is so it dissuades people from getting plastic bags. So instead of using store bags as garbage bags people buy garbage bags (like Glad for example) to use as garbage bags. Gee, I wonder who came up with this bright idea.

The BestBuy sale is live. I got 15% off the Star Trek Season 3 Blu-ray set, the last box of the series that I needed. I'm a happy camper since I've been waiting for a sale to buy it.

For those of you picking up the Kinect at FS with the T4, I saw Kinect Sports at Costco for $8 off until March 24th. Think the price was down to $31.88 with the $8 discount. This was in Montreal so might not be everywhere. Also didn't notice if other Kinect games were on sale.

people get trapped buying games from EB because they get 'so much trade in credit'. You trade in your games to EB and you get terrible amounts of CASH but you get tons more if you accept store credit. You have to figure part of the reason they have high prices is that it allows them to burn up all that store credit they give away.

its my understanding that it's the law they're supposed to charge for plastic bags. But most cashiers may let you get away with it if they don't feel like ringing up a 5cent charge or whatever. I'm betting they give some sort of tax break if you donate your bag money to charity.

I mean my sister uses them for her primary garbage bags but they mostly got thrown away before I came to Canada. Those little plastic bags don't fit my kitchen garbage. A five cent charge whenever the cashier remembers to do it is a small price to pay.
