They announced the Pikmin 3 delay during the last Nintendo Direct. It sucks, but Rayman Legends and Monster Hunter will fill the gap nicely, I believe.

Was announced today that Wonderful 101 is to be released first half of 2013.

IIRC they had previously said it would drop in the Launch Window, no? So I guess they're saying June.

Ok - i have another follow-up to my NNID customer service rabbit-hole.

I established a new NNID and then i received an error message that my Club Nintendo account was already tied to another NNID and i couldn't use it (basicaly- what the last operator told me was incorrect).

2 more calls and 2 more emails later and from what i gather our account data is stored is what appears to be 3 groups:

  • NNID
  • eShop Account (based on your NNID)
  • Club Nintendo ID.

So basically, they can't delete my NNID, and I can't use it anymore. All of my purchases are tied to the eShop account for that NNID and can't be accessed anymore because I can't log into that account anymore. The only way to re-associate my CN account with my future purchase is to have them purge the NNID(eShop) from their system. This would permanently delete the history of all of my eShop purchase, and I would not be able to retrieve those items ever.

Want to repeat that- If you purchase things from the eShop and lose access to your system (theft, fire, flood, whatever), Nintendo CAN NOT transfer those purchase to your new device.

Beyond that- from what i was reading online, you can't deactivate a NNID from a system beyond doing a wiiU-to-wiiU system transfer. So your content is effectively just being stored at the system level again and the NNID is just a facade they've created to look like the other consoles (but probably more for the MiiVerse).

This is upsetting, not just due to the lose of my network ID & content (luckily it's early enough in the life cycle that I'm only losing around $20) , but I had purchased a Deluxe and an external drive with the intention of actually using the "deluxe digital" promo on first party titles and other must-have games. Now it seems like the worst deal ever.

Couldn't you have sent the system to Nintendo and have them fix it and if they could not, they would have transferred all your stuff over to a new Wii U?

In my case- the system was stolen and I don't have access to the system, but the impression I got from them was that if the system was faulty it would have been the same situation (unless it was just a bad firmware update or something).

Moral of the story: never buy any digital content from Nintendo, period. It is beyond ridiculous that they have these heavy-handed DRM/anti-customer policies in place, but the simple solution is just don't buy any of their digital content, ever. I'm sure their digital sales are already far below what they could have been, had they actually implemented a customer friendly way to transfer licenses. Unbelievable that Nintendo's customers don't demand better service, but I guess they're just used to getting screwed.

Wow, what a dumb and shitty way to handle online ID's and content associated with them. I really cant believe how unbelievably clueless they've been regarding this issue. Its 2013 Nintendo, get your online shit together already.

I don't think anyone will buy their digital games at full retail price when they can go out and buy the game at retail possibly on sale and then have the ability to sell it to friends, lend it out etc. Also, huge downloads are not fun, especially on my DSL connection. I will definitely make note to stay away from their digital purchases, especially when other companies make it very easy to transfer your stuff or recover your profile.

The only thing I have bought is the Pokemon dream radar from the 3DS e-shop for $2.99, which is $2.99 so I really don't care if I lose $3. I did buy a couple original Wii Shop games however those were gotten with the points from the pepsi rock band promo of many years ago and I didn't actually pay for them.

I did notice that it is incredibly easy to purchase games after entering a credit card, at least on the 3DS, but that is up to the parents to police their kids with their credit cards, though I can't help but think they get a lot of sales that way. Especially since some people don't read their credit card bills apparently.

I haven't messed with the parental controls on the 3DS, but I figured they'd let you lock purchases.

It's better for multiplayer games or those that are used often. E.g. I'd love a Wii Fit download and I should've bought Mario Kart 7 off the eShop. I use the Wii Fit Channel constantly and I'm not likely to sell Mario Kart.

It's a bad idea for a linear game like Zelda or Final Fantasy. It's a great idea for a short burst game like Pushmo or those with long shelf life.

I hate changing discs and carrying around carts.

i have a lot of games downloaded on my 3ds xl. (ie.crashmo, pushmo, liberation maiden, cowboy clide, etc) and i refuse to pay for a game i can get physically but that's total crap u cant keep track of ur downloads like on psn u have a download history which allows u to re-download ur purchases on different consoles if something happens to them.i thought nintendo would eventually make it so i can play my 3ds games on my wii u but from what im reading on this forum i dont see that happening.which in turn totally sucks god damn nintendo get with it?! and yea im also feeling the wii u drought & zombieu blows little turtles.

I agree with you, but in the case of 1st Party nintendo titles, I'm not likely to trade them in, so i would consider the digital purchase. Additionally, the digital deluxe promotion does make it a little cheaper to buy them digitally at release.

I'd like it if Nintendo offered a pre-order/pre-load service like Steam does. I'm assuming Sony and Microsoft will offer this on their next consoles as well.

^isn't sony already offering this (to some extent) on the pre-orders that they are offering like DmC or DeadSpace3? (I'm not exactly sure why i would pre-order it otherwise).

No, they don't offer that in the US. They do in Europe.

Anyway, Revelaitons is going HD, and it'll be on Wii U!

I know my brother will be happy to know that it's coming to the PS3 as well, he's been a total RE nut since we've played the original together on PSone (and no chance he would get a 3DS, not really into handhelds).

A little over an hour to go.

All signs point to the Virtual Console getting more details during this. Let's hope that talk I heard of Nintendo allowing people to upgrade Wii VC games (probably for a price) is true.

Virtual console news will be great - I need a use for my Wii U pro controller! I'm hoping Yoshi's Land and the next Monolith project are teased as well. We know the lineup through June, so hopefully there's a series of unannounced, high profile Nintendo games coming in August through the end of the year.

what is this 30 cent virtual console thing? It mentioned a trial - am I just renting?

The new Xenoblade game looks amazing. Apparently it's just called X? Video got blurry

I think they just labeled it X because they don't know what they're calling it yet.

And yeah the 30 cent trial thing was kind of confusing but I think they just meant that it's a sale price available for only a month for each game.

This was disappointing, to players of solely Western Games. Why are there no FPSes, and dark and gritty environments, and characters with attitude?

I am excited to not only hear SMT x FE and X, but that Nintendo is not dicking us like they did with xenoblade, last story, etc...

Lol, I will wait for Sony and MS's E3 for those. For everything else, there's Nintendo.

Awesome showing, Nintendo.
