Crysis 3 announced for Spring 2013 release

  • More details about the title will be revealed on April 16th
  • The game will still be based in New York.
  • Some unknown disaster will turn New York into more of a Jungle.
  • More open environments instead of linear like Crysis 2.
  • New weapon which looks like a mechanical bow.
  • There will be a limited, premium, and hunter edition of the game.
  • Developer Crytek already announced that Crysis franchise would be a trilogy so this could be the last chapter of one of the best looking FPS game ever made.
  • Game will be coming to PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 around Spring of 2013.
Fun Fact: Crysis 2 was the most pirated PC game of 2011 with 3,920,000 downloads.

Because yeah, who would pay for that shit? I'm embarrassed to own it after how amazing Crysis was. They went the COD route and lost a lot of fans with the unoriginality.

Good news in there. Part if the fun in crysis was just getting lost and "finding" trouble. 2 lost a lot of its original mission. I agree it felt like just another shooter. The suit was still cool, but the upgrade system was lame. Gimme the fun stuff from point a and set me lose like in the first gamr

Crytek has just announced CryEngine 3.4 with the following enhancements...

  • Revamped DirectX 11 Tessellation
  • Multi-layer Navigation Mesh
  • Improved Skin Rendering and Eye Shader
  • Advanced/Improved/Extended Glass Shader
  • Improved glass rendering
  • Geometric light beams
  • Point light shafts
  • Time of day based filmic HDR tone mapping
  • Curves and key tangents for time of day
  • User controlled per cascade shadow bias through time of day
  • Improved transitions between levels of detail
  • Volumetric fog features extended and improved
  • Improved distance cloud shading
Since Crysis 3 will launch about one year from now, the game might be running on CryEngine 3.5 or 4.
