I don't want to download or "run" a game. I just want to have it.

If you had Dracula 4 on your account, Dracula 5 has been added to it for free. It's part of a promo they're doing.

http://www.gog.com/f...ase_dracula_4_5

Dracula 4 was in an Indie Gala bundle. Supposedly, any unused keys were invalidated.. so if you haven't activated it yet you might be screwed.

Yessss, another GOG game I'll never install or play!

I can't say for sure, but I think they fixed the unused Dracula 4 codes. They should now work, and give you Dracula 4 + 5.

They are fixed.

This whole thing makes me wonder if I've marked other codes as redeemed without actually redeeming them.

Cheap referral plug, but Tremorgames has GOG codes for Dracula 4 for 75 coins, which can be earned relatively easily just watching videos:

Nice. Too lazy to participate in the contest, but I played this game and the original back in the day--really terrific superhero strategy games with great stories and fun Silver Age-style characters.

Has anyone played the older GOG version of Pirates! as well as the newer Steam version?  Is there a good reason to play both or is the newer version the same game play/story (plus some additional stuff) with updated graphics?

I don't know whether this counts but I played Pirates! when it first came out and I also played the re-release. My recollection was that the original was a lot more fun and interesting than the remake. The remake actually seemed to have a lot fewer things to do than the old version.

I haven't played GOG's version, but I did play the hell out of Pirates! and Pirates! Gold back in the day.  The remake that is on Steam is very similar, with changes that you might expect with a remake done over a decade later.

Thanks for the input!  I have Pirates! on my GOG wishlist and every time it goes on sale I wonder why I should buy it if I already have a version on Steam.  Thought I should finally ask.

Pirates! (Gold) was a lot of fun back in the day, and it still holds up decently.  It really is a true classic.

I've had the newer one for 8+ years and still haven't played it. =D

Also, because it's not (in the least) worth playing, especially if you're a die-hard fan of the original...

To put it bluntly, they truly buggered up the remake.

I think the new Pirates version is worth playing. I liked the original and the gold one... and I also liked the newer. I know it's a bit shallow and repetitive, but it was good enough.

I thought it was really good fun, until you hit that "This is beginning to feel repetitive" point.

Took me around 10 hours until I hit that point, IIRC.

Took me about 3 full playthrough wins (being the #1 pirate 2 times and got close another time). It did get old fast and the upgrades to stuff where few and far between. The dancing got annoying, and yeah generally just became very repetitive. I did increase the difficulty each subsequent time....but agreed it becomes samey after just a few times through.

I played (and beaten) the original Pirates, Pirates Gold, Pirates remake on PSP, and Pirates remake on PC. I remember the PSP one being better than the PC, however. The dancing didn't fit very well. I thought the PC one was the easiest. Took me one try to win. I remember smaller ships like the Sloop being a lot more powerful in the earlier versions. In the remake, you just load up on like 40 cannons with grape shot, and you pretty much always win.
