NOX Audio blowout at Big Lots

SpaceGhost2K

CAGiversary!
NOX Specialist collapsible headphones, reg. $79.99 on clearance for $25.00
NOX Scout earbuds with built-in mic, reg. $79.99 on clearance for $15.00
NOX Negotiator adapter for Xbox 360 and PS3, reg. $39.99 (I think) or $20 if you purchased them with a headset bundle - $15.00

I tried out a pair of the Specialists at E3 about two years ago, and my mind was blown. However, they only had the Scouts to show at that time, and there were none to try out. However, the super small button used for the mic and pause controls had me wanting this for a long time. just not to the tune of $80 bucks. $15 is nuts though, and they seemed to have plenty.

NOX Admiral and Admiral Touch headphones were also shown off, with no promise of a street date and they're still not out.

(Yes, I screwed up on the retail prices on my facebook post of the pic.)

I can confirm the Big Lots in Hilliard, OH (Roberts Road / Hilliard-Rome Rd.) has a ton of each of these items. I had initially been looking at the NOX Negotiator at $40 from Micro Center because it looked like an intriguing item for multi-platform audio, but at these prices, I went in for one of each of the three items.

Heck, the Negotiator and the Specialist come with a 3.5" to dual 3.5" cable, a la Headset Buddy. That cable sold alone on Amazon is like $15, so if you need the cable, buy this device and you get some bonus goodies.

Definitely marking this as a YMMV item, but seeing the kind of selection that Big Lots had in headsets and headphones, they appear to really be trying to have a footprint in the value electronics field. They had enough $50-$100 Android devices in there to sink a ship!

(BTW, for those who don't know, Columbus OH is the home base of Big Lots, Hilliard's a suburb on the west side of town. Usually, when there's a Big Lots item on here, it's a safe assumption that Columbus stores get it, and there's no shortage of them!)

I really need a new chat hedset for my 360 rather badly, but I do not need one for game audio just chat. It would be very nice to get the earbuds and then the adapter for $30 total and have a nice earbud/360 headset combo. Is it posbile to use this JUST for chat and not game audio?

Thanks OP. Found the earbuds and console adapter at my local store. But there was only one of each. Picked up the buds and gonna wait on the adapter since I already have some TB headphones

Oh and I'm in socal

I will be happy to buy them for anyone who doesn't have them at their store, face value plus tax (7%?) plus shipping plus a buck or two for the packing. Don't wanna make money on it, just come out square.

I've tried these and I recommend the Turtle Beach X12 (price match Fry's $40 this week, you can buy a USB dongle at amazon that will allow you to use the mic with the PS3 as well) over the specialist and negotiator. I do like the design of the retractable mic, the headphones are pretty comfortable, and the housing is very well made.

The ear buds are really nice a lot better than stock iPhone ear buds, MEEE M9's, and probably any other $20 or less ear buds. The one thing the ear buds need is a clip, so that you can clip it to your shirt or something to prevent it from moving. That would stop a lot of the cord noises. It also has a flat cord which should be standard for every headset nowadays but isn't.

I bought all 3 things today and will return the the negotiator and the specialist. The ear buds are excellent for $15, those I will keep.

And I recommend the X12's because you have control over the volume of the game, the volume of your chatters, the bass booster all separated.

I would've really liked the NOX's if I never had the TB X12's.

Just tested mine out as well. Here is what I have tested them with and my impressions.

1. Vita: The mic seems to work for it but is not as good as the standard built in mic according to the other person in the Skype call. Apparently the built in Vita mic is superb.

2. PC (with USB): DAMN IS THIS THING LOUD!!!! I had my volume meter set to 8% and that was plenty loud, anything above 15% and it hurt my ears, not sure if that is good or bad, but it is interesting.
I did notice a small amount of static pop sound, but it wasn't terrible. I did not notice it with the Vita, but will try it again to make sure.
The person in Skype said I came through rather clear, there was a small amount of static, but not really noticeable. I did not get to test the audio received for the call because the other person did not have a mic for their PC.

3. I have yet to test it with the 360.

Overall for the price and what I wanted them for, which is a small/portable earbuds for music and a 360/PC headset it seems to meet my requirements, but I am going to put it through its paces before I decide to keep em both.

I bought the Negotiator the other day. I don't know if it's my PS3 or whatnot, but I sometimes need to constantly restart my PS3/move the USB dongle to another port to get the sound working.

Annoying, but it works pretty good.

I went to the Big Lots in Pickerington and the one on Livingston took Ohio neither had them, I won't have time to go to the Hilliard one until Saturday. Basically the ones that I went to had no headphones priced over $15.

Just tested this with the 360 and I am kind of annoyed. I tried using just the adapter plugged into the controller and the earbuds into the adapter, no go. I then plugged in the USB adapter to my PC and the cable from the add-on into the USB adapter and then it worked. I know I can plug it directly into the 360 if I need to, but my laptop is much closer to me plus I would be using the USB adapter mainly for skype.

Annoying yes, a deal breaker...more than likely no.

I have yet to try the Negotiator, too many wires, not enough time. I think that'll work fine for me as I do my gaming on a monitor, so it's all pretty close together.

As for the Specialist, I like the sound it produces, the microphone though in Skype, according to a co-worker, wasn't all that great compared to one you'd use for that purpose dedicated, ilke a Logitech H360 headset which is a USB plug. Of course, the flip side is that the H360 would only work with a PS3 or a PC due to the USB and because it's "USB speakers", it's a sound-card-built-in solution. Apples and oranges to some degree.

I'll try the Specialist mic on my phone later on and see if it's any better. It's a keeper no matter what.

The Big Lots in Anderson, Indiana has a lot of these.

I'm loving the Scouts. The little "send/end" button is nice and these have a better overall sound range than my beloved Xtreme Xplosives (themselves a steal for $20), not quite as good with the bass but better with everything else.

The Specialists are VERY comfortable and produce great sound. Glad to get a decent gaming headset for $25, I know it's no Turtle Beach but I don't have the $100 to drop on those unless I get a better job (or even the $70 whenever they go on sale somewhere). Won't be able to try the Negotiator until the weekend but if it serves the purpose I bought it for it'll be more than worth the $15.
Are you guys finding these in the electonic isle or are they somewhere else? I went to 2 BLs and nothing!
I didn't find anything either and I looked both in the electronics aisle and all the headphone hubs. Big Lots is usually miss for me and they all don't get the same stuff unfortunately.

The store I went to yesterday had it in the electronic aisle. But the store I went to today had them behind the front counter. Didn't find them in-store and asked the clerk on my way out. She told me they were too valuable to leave out on the floor:roll:

So try asking if they're not out on the floor

Oh, I didn't even think to look behind the counter. I'll do that tomorrow. :)

So how are these headsets sound quality wise, specifically the Specialist. I am considering picking one up (if they have them) to either replace the headset I use now (and then have the other one as my spare/work one) or use this one for work. I am a big music listener so I would want something that does both music and gaming good.
Unless they're very well hidden behind the counter somewhere, the Dallas store on Skillman/Abrams has none.
Thank you for posting as this was one of the ones I was planning on checking out. I will check the one on Redbird tonight or tmrw.

None in the Cityplace, Forest/Marsh locations. Also had a friend go and try some On Josey all the way up to The Colony and nothing! Said he tried 4 stores. Yup, none in Dallas area it seems.

Skillman/Abrams is that the one by the 2 Targets?

Didn't see any in South Arlington either. Anyone find them in the DFW area?

Picked up a pair of Scouts and Specialists. Wish they had the Specialists in Green, but they only had Reds left. This was the Bristol, CT Big Lots and they had like 10 Red Specialists left and only 2 more pairs of Scouts.
Was actually looking for them for awhile, they had like 100 different pairs of headphones out in the open and these were in the last spot I looked.

I'm going to check my area in a bit. I remember my biglots in the garland area having an electronics department.

Indeed. Right square in the ghetto. Right by my house.

I picked up one of each one of these between a couple of Big Lots. The one on Brice rd. In Reynoldsburg OH had Negotiators and Scouts but I couldn't find Specialists anywhere. The Big Lots on 256 in Pickerington had plenty of everything.

Nice to hear, when I went in on Sunday they didn't have anything, I'm definitely going to check it out tomorrow.

Any chance someone could snag me a negotiator? I'll pay for everything plus shipping to 32301 (Tallahassee). None of this stuff ever hits our stores.

Please let me know! Thanks!

Found a whole selection of all 3 items OP mentioned. I bought the Scouts, and I am liking them so far. I normally prefer earphones that don't insert inside the ear, but these are pretty comfortable. That extra piece helps to keep them stable and not fall out. So far so good.
I found them in the downtown, Salt Lake City Big Lots location.

Guys, if you want me to pick up one of these, send me a PM

Winchester Road / 104 location in Columbus has plenty of the Negotiators and Specialists, but no Scouts.
