What is Amazon coins? Lol, I have no idea what that stuff is. I got in on those two deals, so I might jump on this depending on what coins are.

1 coin = .01 for use on amazon apps.

So 2000 coins =$20. They expire in one year though. Still a great deal.

Basically you are turning $7 in Amazon app "cash" into $20 in Amazon app "coins".

I think it may be one of those Kindle optimized apps and is not listed as being so.

Mine is a Moto G and won't work either. So it's a possibility, but I don't care. I bought it to get a free $13...

Insanely awesome deal.  If anyone got in on the deals I posted the other day that's even better.

Have $35 in free appstore credit now. :whee:

See that it works with controllers too so now I need to see if the DS3 can sync up to the HDX.

When I upgrade from this Galaxy Tab 2, I'll have me a game waiting lol. Wasn't compatible, but free money is better especially since I have this on my 360.

Is there a way to tell when coins expire? Does Amazon notify you ahead of time at all?
No on both counts I think. I really hate that with a lot of their stuff. Like they do all these promotional credits with various expiration dates and restrictions and then just throw them in your account with no way to tell what anything is.

After looking a bit, the Amazon App Store has a pretty shitty game collection. Would love to get Final Fantasy, but apparently they only have IV. And Crystal Defenders looks like crap on the S4. Guess I'll be sitting on these coins for a while

Not having a compatible device has never stopped me from buying anything from them.
Wow, I feel sheepish. I just assumed I couldn't buy it since I didnt have a compatible device. Bought, and thanks! Now time to find the posts you made about the other freebies.

On a related note, anyone else have a phone with voice and text only (like me)? I noticed recently that my amazon apps all require me to have an internet connection or else it will force close. Anyone notice this lately?

used the  5 buck amazon app store credit i had  and  2 bucks  in credit i had lying around and  100 coins

not bad turning them into 2,000 coins.

Thanks  OP

was about to waste those 500 coins last night    now got  2200 coins

I can't fathom how playing a GTA game on a cellphone would be fun. With the touchscreen and all it just sounds like it would be annoying. Even on a tablet I just don't see how it wouldn't be annoying.

Ok, I have 250 coins and I have that $5 voucher from Amazon local. How exactly do I spend it though?

It says it will be automatically applied but it doesn't say anywhere in the app that it will be. I'm set up to buy coins in my Amazon App store app on my phone, but it doesn't say anywhere whether it will use the coupon or not.

Edit: I bought the coins and they charged my gift card and did not use my voucher.

Edit again: Ok, I figured it out. The discount was automatically applied to the coin price. I had no idea that would work quite like that, and the option to buy with coins didn't show up until I purchased the extra ones (even though they only charged me 199).

I have a Samsung Seek with voice and text only and does not run internet/apps. Does that make me the CAG with the oldest cell phone?

Don't know how to improve it for smartphones, but they sell bluetooth controllers so it's easier to play on tablets (even better if you can connect it to the TV via second screen or mini HDMI). Not sure which is a good one though. I heard you can use a PS3 controller on it, but I believe you have to root it which I don't want to do.

Most of my apps were obtained through Google Play so I don't know what I would use those 2000 coins on - aside from SwiftKey for 300. Suggestions?

This was mentioned in the Android thread, but I felt it deserves its own thread.

If you got in on the $5 and/or $3 or other offers for free amazon android credit/coins this is an awesome deal.

None of my devices are compatible with this game, but it was an easy purchase. Use $7 in credit and get $20 back.

stupid question how come it shows no devices supported but when I got to google play it shows that my device is compatable with it..

For some reason when I bought it I was given an additional 500 coins so now I have 2500 coins and $1.01 in app store credit.

amazon designed some the apps as optimized for kindles and are coded as kindle tablet editions which is what the grand theft auto game might be

Seems like Google Play has better apps anyway. Wish there was a similar program to get Google Play funds.

Searching through the Amazon app store on my Asus tablet, the only GTA game on there is Vice City. Yet Google Play has GTA 3 and San Andreas with no Vice City.

Who says you have to? Both the DualShock 3 and 360 pad, and maybe even the new console controllers, work great with most Android devices. There are also Android specific solutions like the MOGA controllers.

Also, Amazon, the company offering this deal, has something that might work and was recently launched. It's probably not a coincidence.

To add to this discussion, buying a Fire TV and controller is a pretty slick deal right now, for customers dropping the $140 on the Fire TV + Controller you'd get (or be able to get):

1. The Fire TV

2. The Game Controller

3. Sev-0, the game we made

4. 1,000 Coins for buying the controller

5. You could then use those 1,000 Coins to get GTA: San Andreas for free

6. You could then use your 2,000 additional Coins to get $20 in additional games

Cheers,

Tony

same thing with me, then i noticed the email from amazon, in which we got a -500 in promotions credited towards the purchase.

I don't know if your department is responsible for all those recent AppStore promos but keep it up!
Thanks man! I'll be around here and other communities talking about how to bring you even better deals. PLEASE tell me what kind of deals you want to see so I can try and run them down!

I'd like to see a sale on great games without any IAP. The Room 1 & 2 (especially if we could get non-Kindle Fire builds, though I won't hold my breath), Ridiculous Fishing, Threes!, and Monument Valley come to mind.

Feel free to stop in the general Android thread as well. The Amazon Appstore and Coin deals make up a large part of the discussion.

Finally decided to buy it and get the coins. I was thinking of buying a Kindle Fire HDX (the offline watching of Prime videos is a big reason for it) for myself and a Fire TV for my mom so maybe I'll get to play San Andreas on one of those devices.

Glad to see you're still around. Haven't been in the Amazon PCDD thread in some time but thought you were getting replaced.

Personally I like deals like this because where it's something I would be interested in like GTA SA but wouldn't really buy on it's own at $7 but when there's a credit towards more apps or something similar that I'll actually use to offset that it becomes more appealing. The Minecraft promo with the 350 coins that essentially makes it half off is another good deal. Or how buying certain digital PC games recently got you $5 of AppStore credit. Like NBA 2K14 was a good deal on it's own at $7.50 but even better with that $5. So it doesn't even have to be credit for the same category but something that has value to me is good too. Though I'm sure we all prefer straight discounts this isn't a bad alternative when that's not an option.

That and more discounts/promotions on "core" games would be great too.

What I don't like is getting something like MP3 credit because I never use. For me things like Spotify are such a staple that even buying music for free just ends up a hassle.

This is certainly a good deal, but I very rarely buy any apps, or play any games on my phone. I've spent a total of $5 on two different apps since getting an Android phone. So I'm not sure if it'll be worth it for me.

GTA is great on Nvidia Shield for those that have one.
Trying to figure out how to download the Amazon version of GTA: San Andreas onto my Shield. Bought it on my Kindle Fire but when I'm on my Shield with the Amazon Appstore app and try to download it, it says the Shield isn't compatible. Any ideas?
