I recieved $5 in eShop credit after downloading Mario Kart 8 via the Deluxe Digital Promotion and ANOTHER $5 after choosing Pikmin 3 as my free game. Thought I'd post my first topic since nobody has mentioned it.
It's been mentioned in the Free Wii U Game with Mario Kart 8 thread

Somebody in that other thread posted a link from Nintendo that stated that you would NOT receive DDP points from downloading your free game and would also receive the normal 10 CN coins from the post-play survey of your free game only but, NO product registration survey or CN coins for that at all.
I'm guessing that information was false? I plan on downloading two of those free games (NSMBU and Pikmin 3) with my codes and was hoping that I would get back 1,198 ($12) in DDP points. Hopefully I'll be able to get those points after downloading...

Saw that post too, which is why I started this topic. You definitely get points for the free game of your choice.

Thank you!
Also, I'm guessing it's best for everyone to download either Wind Waker HD, New Super Mario Bros. U or Pikmin 3 within the next week right?
The promotion banner has "A $39.99 Value" listed over those three games (Wii Party U is already $39.99 as mentioned above) and I'm sure that permanent price drop on these select games is incoming REAL soon.
I'd rather not lose out on 200 DDP points per game (would be 400 for me) but also want my Club Nintendo coins to count towards the new Club Nintendo year, starting in July.
If I were to register both of my Mario Kart 8 Club Nintendo codes and download my two free games late this week would all four sets of Club Nintendo coins carry over into the new Club Nintendo year?
That's around 140 coins for the two Mario Kart 8 Club Nintendo codes and around the same for the two free games. 280 or so towards Platinum 2015. Help! LOL.

Expires July 1st... just to be on the safe side, maybe I'll wait until June 5th or 6th to register anything, lol. That way I'll have until July 5th or 6th to complete the surveys! xD

Misleading title. Made me think $5 credit somehow applied to physical copies of Mario Kart also
Deluxe Digital Promotion only applies to digital downloads.

deluxe promo is good til December 31st 2014I've bought the wii u day 1. There was little to no reason to go digital at the time. I believe the delux promo was only for the first year. Did they perhaps change this?

Thanks OP. Had no idea about this but just got my $5 for the copy of Zelda WW I got for free with MK.
On a semi related note, it appears you get nothing for games received via club nintendo points
This is incorrect. I've gotten points on all 4 games I've bought with CN points since I got my Wii U.
Also the title should be changed to reflect that MK 8 has to be bought digitally to earn enough for $10 credit just for its purchase plus the free game download.

Yup, you are right. Was just coming back on here to mention that I actually did get the points for my club nintendo purchases.

Digital Deluxe Promo is strictly for digital downloads so I figured the title was appropriate.

I have never bought anything from the e shop before. I am in New York where Nintendo charges sales tax. I am paying from e shop card balance. How do I set it up so I do not get charged sales tax? Thanks for any info.
I live in NY too. Just pay the tax. I don't like paying taxes on anything either but it's not worth any potential problems in the future by not paying them...

I found a video on youtube.. you basically while on the eShop from the wii-u, go to your "location" settings and change your address. You then just enter in a zip for Alaska, 99551... and it automatically changes. Now when you go to any checkout page.. no sales tax. NEATO! i hate this damn state! can't wait to leave!
