Japanese vs. American Amiibos

ChasP0780

CAGiversary!
With the semi-official discontinuation of various Wave 1 Amiibos in the US, I know lots of people are clamoring to complete their set.

Has anyone looked into the Japanese Amiibos? There's all sorts of deals on Ebay for them right now.

I know they're not region-locked and will work on American systems. That being said, I can't really distinguish any differences. Does anyone know what the bottom of the base looks like on the Japanese version? Any/all input is greatly appreciated! =)

I was wondering it too. I know Power Rangers toys in Japan are of much superior quality than those of America. But are they for Amiibos? Maybe Nintendo should've had Bandai manufacturing them, considering Bandai Namco did help develop Smash Bros.

I've been trying to find a Japanese unboxing video that shows the base's bottom. Sadly, I can't find anything =/

I'd be interested to know this as well. One would assume that an amiibo would not be "region locked" per se... but who knows.

I asked about this very thing over in the Amiibo Deals thread.  In addition to the Japanese, I was curious if anyone knows whether the UK ones are any different that the North American amiibos.

Ahh!  When he tore the Marth packaging like that.... I'm just so used to slicing open packages like that with a knife.

In case anyone was wondering, the US and foreign Amiibos have the same markings on the bottom. On the Left is a Japanese Amiibo and on the Right is a US one
