1up.com's Tough Customer...

Nice find cheapy..put a smile on my face. Also points out two of the toughest things to do in life: 1.)Treat everyone nicely & 2.) Say "I don't know"

My area will be a lil better, if the questions were asked here, with it being a college town, however these are my opinions.

The Toys r Us one imo is a given, from what I have seen the employees work all different areas, and if one knows about games its just the luck of the pick.

Best Buy - almost the same as TRU, but they say they specialize people in certain areas right?

Gamestop/Ebgames, at least both places showed that the employees had their knowledge although both is hit and miss for friendly-ness.

One time I brought in a copy of DOA ultimate that I bought at the ebgames online site, to exchange for another copy. The manager lady, kept trying to give me a PP copy. I told her mine wasn't preplayed, she kept saying yes it was. I then leaned over the counter pointed at the reciept which showed that the other game I bought "Loaded" had preplayed beside it, and this one didn't. She then kept quiet finished quickly and started breathing loudly.

I almost pulled a DDF and kicked the magazine rack over...but decided I would wait till she got off work so I could drop kick her in the throat.

This was from an EGM several months back. The fact that they changed the date on it gave me a quick case of deja vu though.
I'm pissed I didn't think of it first! I should have sent Mrs. Cheapy in with a tape recorder!
i think you should still do it cheapy, just expand it a bit.

I'd love to read how FYE employee's would respond! Or Kay-bee toys? Walmart?

You could put together a good read I'm sure.

Who is Mrs. Cheapy?

Damn...EGM/1UP double dipping...now thats cheap ass!
How can we steal their idea and make it better? It seems ripe for improvement.
Pehaps we can do it a on bigger scale and have the CAGs come and report back their results. We can come up with a universal list of questions or something...

I'd have no probem at all spying on my local stores. I can't really do GameStop though; I'd be recognized a little too quickly.

By its very nature, a CAG version would be better. You could: 1) try to get every store to scan the UPC code on the box instead of the sticker, 2) see if the store will take a scan of a coupon instead of the real thing, and 3) see if they will price match their website, somebody else's website, or an advertisement from an out of state store. There are plenty of other things you could do as well. Instead of testing their system knowledge, you need to test their tolerance for devil customers.

Go to J&R or other places only in the city.
Maybe a mom and pop joint?
or B&H and make fun of the hacedic Jews!!

(I'm allowed to say that, I'm Jewish)

Where I did work (electronics field) at if I couldn't answer a question or no one else could we would send them to a store that was a specialist in that field. It is not always about making the sale.

TRU did get the hardest questions. The questions TRU answered should have been reserved for GS, EB, or BB. But IMO they should all have been asked the same questions.

I have all 3 consoles. People (who don't know better) please please please please quit calling the Gamecube a DAMNED kids console. I am not a fanboy all console are good. But why is the Gamecube stuck with the title of kids btw I know why to long to explain.
