The games that consumed hundreds of hours of my younger days are coming to 3ds with wireless instead of the link cable.
I still have the og yellow, but it will be fun to play these for real again

I honestly thought this was just a joke until I googled it. I never would have thought Nintendo would add these to the VC; I've been expecting a remake instead. brb pulling my 3DS off Craigslist

I wonder if we'll see 2nd gen on there soon as well. Probably not because there are already DS remakes, but I've been surprised before. Like now.

The lithium in my cartridges have still stood the test of time for me as all my original saves are still in them. I was pretty sure after 15 years they'd be gone but still there. Probably buy these eventually.

Eh. When are Fire Red/Leaf Green going to be on the Virtual Console?

I would like a Yellow remake, but that's expecting too much from Game Freak. Gold/Silver was a peak for the company.

I honestly believe they'll just make a Red/Blue 2 at some point in the future like they did with Black/White 2. They've already remade Red/Blue once, don't see them doing it again anytime soon. A sequel like they did with B/W though would be a great chance to revisit Kanto again and would be kinda like a remake of the first game since you'd see the region again. Off-topic but it occurred to me today while playing Omega Ruby I think it's finally time to give us wireless Pokemon box control from anywhere in the game so we don't have to keep going to a Pokemon Center to access the computer there. It's actually pretty absurd it's a feature they've never rolled out with yet considering how many things they have changed and made easier over the years.

Whoa, this is something I really didn't ever expect.  It's funny that how this idea, when suggested a few years ago, resulted in "it'll never happen" because of the FireRed/LeafGreen remakes.  I guess Nintendo finally pulled through and decided to port these over, which they definitely won't regret in the long-run.  While I know they've been pumping out these new gen releases and whatnot, I have always personally felt that the first three/four gens were the best, so these will be a blast to play through again.

And it's really nice that they are going to be modding the games slightly to allow for wireless multiplayer. One of the things that made those original games so appealing was the cross-game battling and trading. Having such a feature accessible via modern hardware is a great way to preserve all the aspects of the original titles.

They also just announced a New 3DS bundle to celebrate the 20th Pokémon anniversary. (New 3DS, not New 3DS XL) It's going to come with all three digital original titles pre-installed and will come with Pokémon red and Pokémon blue face-plate sets. For anyone who wanted to get the New 3DS, but wasn't into an Animal Crossing release, this is a great option.

To add onto this, I could've sworn I saw somewhere that they're releasing a 2DS for each version of the game as well (Red, Blue, and Yellow). I thought it was weird though, since I had no idea they were still producing new variants of the 2DS. I guess it's good for anyone just wanting to play the Pokemon games without splurging on a more expensive version of the handheld.

I can honestly do without any remakes, just re-release the original games as is with wireless (preferably with wifi capability as well) for $5-7. I bought the VC version of yellow for 10, but avoided buying red/blue due to the price. I'll probably buy them eventually when I want to play through the game again without deleting my yellow save, but 10 bucks a game for a total of $30 feels a little to steep for me when I still have the original cartridges on my desk next to me as I type this.

You could just sell your carts and get more than $30

I bought Red, as that's the cart I bought back in '98.  (My battery is still good in that cart.)

I'm the Champion now, and only need another 10 Pokemon or something like that.  Hoping to get the Blue exclusives when I go to the Midwest Gaming Classic this weekend.

Grew up playing the originals, never knew there was a Mew glitch/get any Pokemon glitch basically. So they've been putting in all of these event Pokemon since literally the first game but don't always make events for them to be obtainable. Though in Mew in R/B/Y's case I think he was obtainable in events but they were EXTREMELY limited I mean like maybe a dozen or possibly less than that cities in the US.
