True but even then people will still offer you like $100 or less for the ps3.
I sold my PS4 a while back on craigslist right before the price drop for $350 even. Got tons of lowballs for 300 and under, even though I stated that I was firm about the price and was not going to respond to trades or lowballs. Then there are other retards that try to scam you by stating that why will pay you $450 to ship it to them, and it would make a great gift for their fiance!

You mean those are scams? I just sent an xbox to a lady that said it was for her deployed son....

Plus you get a free game (Rise of the Tomb Raider is the best choice here) and $50 gift card. Not a bad deal for someone looking to finally make the switch from the X360 to X1.

This typically refers to other trade in promotions, not sales promotions. The GC/Game is a sales promotion. It should also work on more than one console per transaction.

It will not, however, work, with the old 360 models. They take all those as base models and the HDD are separate.

I'm curious as to everybody's luck with controllers. First party or bust? I'd love to pair two systems with third party remotes for this promotion.

After PS3 and Day 1 X1 and a couple knick knacks I ended up paying 19 out of pocket, not bad for a day one console. I chose Tomb Raider as the freebie and still have the $50 gc. It's my birthday month so 20% off a used quantum break is my game plan. Thanks OP!

Does it work on two console? I have 360 and ps3 that I would like to trade, do I get 150 each?

They REALLY want to sell those units.
I think this is great, if your comment is derisive, and I apologize if its not, this ISNT that big of a deal in terms of sales push, ms store, bb and gamestop had the same/similar promo at least three times last year, and bb and gs had it for the ps4 as well, with only slight difference in terms and systems accepted. I for one have been keeping my fingers crossed for this to come back, so I could dump another aged 360 and a glitchy ps3, so I couldnt be happier.

I've talked to 3 different GameStops in my area. One GS was quite rude while denying the deal existed. The second GS said I could trade in 2 consoles for a total of $300 towards an Xbox One. The third GS also said that no such promotion existed and that their main website was wrong.

cuz i got a 320gb laptop hdd i can swap into my old ps3 and just call it a 320gb ps3. even though its originally a 160gb slim ps3.

They generally go by model type.

Sure you would have to format it for the ps3 though. You can also do that with Western Digital HDDs on the X360 with some firmware manipulation.

I don't think so. As Dyeknom said, they generally go by model type. I just assumed that this crowd would know that by default. I apologize.

I was able to get my upgraded 160 (500gb) to qualify. This is in Colorado so I can't really say if it's the norm.

I don't know about everyone else but I've traded in a few self fixed and upgraded slim 360s and ps3s in the past they would turn it on and check the system info to see the HDD size. Based on that I got the whatever the trade in for that hdd system set was at the time.

I traded mine in today and chose Rise of The Tomb Raider as my free game but they didn't give me my 50.00 gift card.

I forgot about this. I will say my store has no problem with tagging the 500gb PS3s as their "supercharged" or whatever model. I have had luck with that in past.

Has anybody had luck with third party controllers and not getting hit with refurb fees?

The 50 dollar giftcard is a digital code, on the GS site, it says it would be emailed if order thru online. I assume for in-store, it would be printed on receipt..?

That's what I thought too but it's not on there just the Rise of the Tomb Raider digital code.

Whoa, the tomb raider was a digital code?! I thought it was suppose to be a physical copy of the game. It shows a physical copy on the website. What the heck is GameStop doing.. Talk about a switch and bait.

i traded in my xbox360 for a xbox one today.

my xbox360 is the glossy slim, i just slapped a 320gb hdd in there and just called it the 320gb xbox360.

i tried to trade in my ps3 in there too but their system wont take both console as $150 each.

so i took my ps3 back home and recieved $150 for the xbox360.

X1 original price is 349.99 but the way it was wrang up was:

Xbox One         +299.99

Gamestop GC  +  50.00

Total                =349.99

Xbox360           -150.00 (trade in)

Total u pay      = 199.99

for that price I received:

Xbox One 500gb console gears of war ultimate edition

Free game - chose - Rise of the tomb raider

+$50 GC

so.... that's a great price right?

*btw the store was totally cool w me slapping a 320gb hdd into my ps3 slim and just calling it the "320gb ps3"

Still no luck on getting my gift card. Called Gamestop and was told to go back to the store then the store tells me they can't give it to me cause the offer ended even with the ad clearly stating it!

Would make sense to credit it differently (receipt or email) then giving out the $50 on a card that an employee would just keep.

I'm REALLY considering doing this... I have RotTR on disc I can trade in towards it since I already have the other free offerings digitally. I have 2 360s but only 1 with a 320GB HDD and 1 PS3 with a 500 GB HDD. I have so many games on my PS3 that I can't play anywhere else it would make sense to part with the 320GB 360.

Couple of quick questions that I know I could Google but I'd rather have someone here break it down. I already have a 1TB XB1. If I get another, can I share my Gold on that just like I currently share Gold with my two 360s (and XB1) as long as I use my Gamertag so I could download my digital games on both? I know a little about the whole "gamesharing" thing but I'd rather not spring for another Gold account which I'm assuming means (and I'm okay with) I wouldn't be able to use both systems at the same time online.

To answer your question, yes, you can download your digital games on all of your systems. You can only log into one gamertag at one time, but you can set one of your systems to a home system. If a system is a home system it has access to all the digital games from that gamertag even if that gamertag is not logged in.

Also, sleezy ass side question...anyone try to return their xbox one yet?

I did a promo like this before and told the GameStop employee my intention to return the Xbox one and buy a ps4. He was totally cool with it and thanked me for my honesty.

um.. i didnt know u guys had issues with the gamestop $50 gc but for me, i also recieved just the rise of the tomb raider code on the receipt. but for the $50 GC i recieved it in a physical card form which i still have in my wallet.

i dont understand how u guys did not get the $50 GC or question where it is while ur still in the store in front of the employee?
