Langrisser Re: Incarnation - Tensei - 3DS $13.37 @Amazon

I heard this game is very very very bad.  My co-worker got this game on day one & he trade-in on next day after spending his mysterious horror times with this awesomeness game.   He told me staying away from this game with all cost even $10 or less.

Is this any good?
I reviewed the game and it was ok. I had some fun playing it, but it does have some problems with basic SRPG gameplay. There are multiple routes through the story which is a plus. I have no idea how it compares to other Langrisser games, though.

Looks like everyone who decide to bite on this shit sandwich drove the price up to $14.90. GG, everyone.
Yeah, fuck people for buying shit they may want. I was waiting to spend $5 on this game I don't want but would pay $5 for because I have a mental problem that causes me to buy things I don't want just so that I can say I own it all.

I bought this last week from Amazon (paid $20.02 after tax) and can confirm my copy came with the soundtrack and artbook. The game itself is indeed pretty bad. As an SRPG enthusiast I was able to suss some enjoyment from it but only by putting self-imposed limits on what units I could use because the game is way too easy.

There is very little strategy involved because you can gain levels extremely quickly and brute force your way through the game purely by virtue of overpowered stats. By the time I got to the 6th chapter, Ares, the main character was impossible to kill. Enemy units didn't even try. They just walked up to him and ended their turns (the AI is terrible, incidentally). Later, once I caught up other units to his level, entire missions boiled down to each enemy waiting their turn to be killed because they literally could not fight back.

There's 4 branching story paths but the pacing is really rushed and absolutely nothing is explained. Even after beating the game, I didn't feel any inclination to see what the other paths were like. The game probably would have benefited from having a single linear story that was better fleshed out. The characters are all tired tropes, which in itself didn't bother me, but they get absolutely zero development so the entire cast was just a bunch of interchangeable talking heads to me. There is a New Game+ that carries over your units' levels and stats but the game was already laughably easy in the first place.

The one good thing I'll say is that I never ran into any bugs or glitches.

I only purchased because I wouldn't mind if it still comes with the artbook and soundtrack.

If it doesn't, bring on the regret. T___T

It's sad how poorly this game was made and has been received. The Langrisser games were fantastic, and even with its piss poor English release, Warsong is my fondest memory of the Sega Genesis. I had really high hopes when I saw the property was being revived.

I felt the same way.

The maps aren't bad. The strategy isn't absolutely horrible but not balanced. The story is total meh. But if you like watching the battles, the 3-D battles are totally horrible. Every enemy dies in an explosion! Hit them with swords, enemy explodes...

You can half-ass 2-D battles and call it retro. They really should have done the battles in 2D.

Only try this if you've done EVERY other strategy game and want to play it for a laugh. The problem is that even at $15 that there's a lot better at $15!

If you've played all the big ones like Fire Emblem, try some of the smaller ones. Codename Steam is better and isn't it still $10 at gamestop? Ghost Recon for the 3DS is better. Did you play all the DS strategy games: Advance Wars: Dual Strike, Pokemon: Conquest, Final Fantasy Tactics A2, or even Advance Wars: Dark Conflict are all better. A2 is like $17 new on Amazon, and many of the others are $15 used.

Really, only buy this as a collector.

I bought this at full price, thinking it was obscure and would sell out quick... :whistle2:/

Game is a trash fire from start to finish.  Pick one aspect of video games that you enjoy...  it sucks at it.  Best price is free with CFW for the 30 minutes it takes to get to, "NOOOOOOOOPE!"

All that being said, this is a good price if you enjoy throwing your money away.

The other Langrisser games were really good, most of them rated with with Fire Emblem and FFT as the best strategy RPGs of their time.

Is CFW that easy to work with nowadays?
