Not sure how many wrestling video game fans there are on this board, but the NXT Edition for WWE 2K17 was announced yesterday. It was mentioned as being "limited", so take that as you will.

Eh, the DLC is cool, but will come out later for non buyers of this. Other than that I would rather spend the money on the season pass than on an ugly statue and some cards.

I would get this if it included the season pass. I rather pay the $80 and get the season pass. The only reason I would get this is for the NXT DLC Pack but hopefully that comes out later by itself.

I read an article on IGN that was posted this week and it mentioned the NXT DLC will release but won't be available at launch by itself.

tempting. i agree it should include season pass.

it would suck though buying regular edition on launch day and not be able to play as nakamura.

How do these games compare to the N64 wrestling games?  I'm tempted at jumping into a wrestling game but wasn't sure if they have ever made it back to how fun those games were.

A lot of people seem to hate on the wwe2k wresting games. I think they are getting better every year- especially since 2k took over. Very fun to play and very customizable.

And I personally hated the PS3 and ps2 snackdown series.

If looking to just get back into wrestling games- I'd say pick up 2k16 dirt cheap when 2k17 comes out.

As for the N64 games- nothing comes even close. Still the best gameplay by far in my opinion.

100% agreed. I want to play as Nakamura.

I don't really like the whole Reggae Demon thing he's doing in NXT. A figure of Balor in his Venom makeup, though, that I would be into.
They both work for me... I'm just a huge Balor fan.

In my opinion, WWE 2K16 featured the best gameplay THQ/2K had ever done. One on one matches were actually a lot of fun, unlike previous titles from the series. If 2K builds off 2K17, it will continue to make strong improvements and make a good game that can features fun matches to play... Just my two cents.

They are really trying to get as much NXT time/money out of Finn Balor as they can. He should be up on the main roster already.

Honestly thought they would bring him up when AJ went straight to Raw, instead of Gallows and Anderson.

Nakamura could make it on the main roster as well, I think they want him on NXT to teach the new comers how to be a star.

back on topic..

I picked up WWE '12 (Peoples Edition) when it came out and kinda hated it, haven't played a wrestling game since the N64/PS1 (maybe PS2) days.

So the 2K versions are much better?

Yes. WWE'12 was a disappointment. 2K16 had arguably the best wrestling gameplay. It felt fun and really smooth, something previous wrestling games weren't able to capture. If 2K17 builds off of that, we should be in for an even better wrestling game, gameplay wise.

Thanks OP.  Huge NXT fan after discovering it about a year ago, and this was a no brainer for me.

Personally, I like others loved the N64 games because they were easy to play.  When I got 2K16, I knew the basic controls and put some time in trying to beat opponents on easy in Exhibition matches.  But it seemed like I'd beat on someone for a 1/2 hour, be unable to pin them despite how low their "energy" (?) bar was, and in the end they'd hit some cheesy reversal and because I guess I don't know how to kick out right I'd get pinned despite having full health?  Maybe it's my own fault, as I haven't given games as much time as I used to.  But I don't have these sorts of issues with Madden, Halo, Uncharted, etc.  :(

Im tempted but not a big NXT fan so ill probably buy the standard version and get the DLC later on. In terms of the game agree with ACTHECHAMP gameplay has drastically improved since shifting to the 2k series and the my career mode is pretty darn good as well.

In terms of the other guy saying you can beat on someone for a long time etc; the game has changed where if you arent mixing up your moves enough or using the same grapple moves over and over opponents take less damage from the repetitive moves weather thats realistic or not is a separate argument; to that point I have found that if you alternate your moves and are consistent on also working your opponent when they are on the ground you can pin them after one finisher on most occasions. On Hall of Fame difficulty though it seems to take 2 or 3 finishers to win a match.

In for it. They're targeting the right market with the more hardcores. I got 2K15 cheap and kinda liked it, 2K16 has been a blast. I hate hate hate the submission system, but the rest of the game feels good. First game I've played that got the pacing of a match right instead of just feeling like a video game.

I enjoy how now 2 of the 3 included NXT DLC characters are not in NXT anymore, and neither is Finn Balor.

Just rename this edition, 2K. fuck.

The brand split is not in the game this year so they will still be in NXT in the game. They didn't say specifics on the conference call (since HHH didn't know) but look for the champs to be accurate as of around Wrestlemania.

I know, but it's just another example of the lead time causing a weird disconnect in the game.
