Anyone use curved monitors for gaming?

I was considering this monitor. It seems to have good reviews and the price isnt outrageous. I dont really care about 4k gaming and it would be a long time before I ever got to that point anyway.

Im just trying to stay sub 300 on a monitor. Id take my existing one, move it over to my second machine and then use that monitor for my girlfriends computer when I build her one.

Im just wondering if it would be worth it for some screen real estate and if there would be an improvement in the picture quality at all, and if a curved screen actually makes it easier to look.

For PC gaming I feel like 1080p is too low for a 27" monitor. You want to go with 2k(2560x1440p) minimum at that size.  There is a decent BenQ 27" 1440p on amazon right now for $328 which is slightly above your budget though.  If you want more screen real estate then you want a monitor with a higher resolution not screen size.  A 27" 1080p monitor will have the same amount of pixels as a 24" 1080p so your not really getting more screen real estate just because the screen is 3"s bigger.

I have never used a curved monitor so I don't really know the benefits of one.   For more screen real estate though I would recommend an ultra wide monitor, they are like 2 23" monitors in one so you will have plenty of screen real estate.  Not the best for gaming though since a lot of games don't support ultra wide so you will get black bars on the sides for games that don't support that resolution.

I do. . .a 65" one. But seriously, curved screens are a gimmick and really add nothing to the experience or enhance picture quality/viewing angles. I only have my TV because it was a really great sale price for what it is. You do not need 4k on a monitor as you won't even see a difference nor truly be able to appreciate it without a monster rig, so I wouldn't follow their advice. You can spend less than $300 for a perfectly good monitor as long as you "monitor" the deals. Only thing I would really worry about is if you competitively play FPS', pay attention to response time as 2ms gtg (grey to grey) or better is a good target. Otherwise you can do fine with 5ms and be perfectly happy while spending less.

I personally have used Dell Ultrasharp monitors for years now and never had dead pixels so they get my thumbs up. I'd just go with whatever you can find for around $150 that meet your needs personally.

Maybe I should just wait for black friday and find one with a higher resolution like 2k at that size then. Wont kill me to wait a couple months really.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Yeah, doesn't help now but there was a banging deal on a 24" Dell refurb (good as new honestly) 1080p IPS LED last week for $130. Those are the kinds of deals to watch for. ;)

Nothing wrong with it but the BenQ is better for gaming.  Curved monitors for gaming = no added value.  Either you like curved monitors / tvs or you don't. Personally I'd rather get a bigger monitor / tv rather than spend the additional money for curved.

Nothing wrong with 1080p at 27" either.  Nothing wrong with 1080p at 135" either says my projector.  However things do look much crisper on my 55" 4k Sony TV.  The only must have is what you decide it is.
