Halo 5 Guardians Digital Deluxe Edition (Xbox One Download - Region Free) - $17.66 / €16.33 / £14.24

Is the game worth it?
Some people like it a lot, some people strongly dislike it (probably the majority). I personally find it disappointing but serviceable as a multiplayer shooter. I haven't touched the single player yet because I'm afraid to be super disappointed. For me, map design is the worst in the series and that keeps me from really getting into it, but mechanically it works well enough. The additions to gameplay feel more like gimmicks than meaningful additions to the halo formula, but again, they work. I also want to mention that this game is fucking hideous, which is a major bummer. If you have friends that play it, it's worth getting for $20, assuming you are a halo fan. It sounds like I have only bad things to say, but I'm assuming you have played Halo and know its strengths, cause Halo 5 is still ultimately more Halo.

Depends on what you expect. If you want a good, deep story, then you're out of luck. If you want a competitive mode that's incredibly balanced, then you're out of luck. If you want to use a bunch of crazy guns and vehicles in a casual manner of play (Warzone), you'll be fine. If you don't mind a high frequency of spawn killing in your competitive multiplayer, you'll be right at home with the tiny maps and terrible spawns.

Halo 5 is still ultimately more Halo.
Like you said, that's about who you ask. Me, I found it to be Halo mostly in name only. They made Master Chief an ancillary character (you play as him in just 3 of the 15 levels). Tactical play is out the window, in favor of run-and-gun play and spawn killing. You say it's "ultimately more Halo," while I consider it the absolute worst game I've ever played, when comparing expectations to reality. It's a game so bad that IDK if I even want to get Halo 6, because 343 showed no ability to make a game I enjoy.

Halo 5 felt far more like regular halo than halo 4 at least. I take it you aren't a casual halo player. For casual halo players, it's gonna feel like more halo with bad maps and some tacked on gimmicks. I don't get what you mean by run and gun, cause the weapon spawns force you to use strategic points on the maps, just like old halo. The only difference is they let you know when they will spawn.

Spartan Charge pushes the idea of running around because of how it is a mild stun and shield strip. The maps are tiny, and you're extremely mobile, so that encourages you to kill someone, then take off to the other side (which you can time well for spawn kills, if your team is coordinated). I don't see this as more like the old games than its predecessor, unless the complaints are solely about loadouts, Armor Abilities, and the never-functional Killcam. Those weren't great things in Halo 4, but at least there was real strategy in playing that one. This game is more the playstyle that drove me away from CoD than any in the Halo franchise. They made you a lot more mobile, but only bothered to make maps taller, really. It's like they made you 100% more mobile, but only made the maps 15% more spacious.

Damn, either Halo 5 is really bad, or you've never played Shaq Fu.

He did say "comparing expectations to reality". No one expected Shaq Fu to be good back when it came out ... :)

But really, I'd think No Man's Sky would hold that title for the general gaming population, or Mighty No. 9. Neither are as terrible as made out, but compared to expectations - massive disappointment.

Like was said below, I was speaking on the comparison of expectations and reality. I didn't play Shaq Fu, but I never had an interest in it (or knew it existed as a kid). Halo is the reason I got the original Xbox. It's stood as probably my favorite gaming franchise for over a decade. Now, Halo 5 comes and is so bad at everything that it's hard for me to expect even a decent game from the franchise in the future. That's why it's such a problem for me.

I wasn't a Mega Man person, and I am EXTREMELY leery of Kickstarter games. I had no faith in Mighty No. 9 to ever deliver on its promises, though the degree to which it disappointed was unexpected. No Man's Sky, I didn't like from the get-go. I'm not a fan of "create your own adventure." It's why I got bored of Minecraft after a week--Really, I went in wanting to find the hard-to-find stuff (get to the Nether, uncover Diamond, etc.). I'm not creative, so that stuff didn't interest me. When I saw what No Man's Sky aimed to be, I lost interest. I was curious about it because people were talking it up, but as soon as I read more about it, I knew it wouldn't live up to my expectations.

For the masses, I think you'll see Destiny land as the most disappointing offering. That thing got a 10-year budget at the start, and it's just a blob of game.

I won the game when it first released, played it off and on for the past year and deleted it(around 96GB) about two weeks ago to prepare for other games getting ready to release plus I was tired of it, had been really for a while. I was one of those that was happy(IDK why) that it didn't have BR starts but when I got on the game I found I was wrong, starting with an under powered AR and a secondary OP pistol. I hate all the weapons laying around, too many mid & large weapons on certain maps in arena and they just put the DMR/BR on stages I think to make people happy because of no BR start. Also I'd suggest having 3 friends atleast to play team slayer, or it's Free-For-All or nothing. I've never seen so many quitters on a game, even high ranks quit if you get down by 5-6 kills at the start which is stupid because I've been in a lot comebacks. But I've been in many games were I end up being the only perosn on one team just because I don't quit getting T-bagged by 4 players! They gave the option to leave game but if you keep leaving games you get banned which is dumb imo to have that option at all. You move around the stages too fast with the boost when clambering and sprint were plenty as additions, maps are small so plan on getting killed from all angles. You can't really be stealth like in old games. BTB is nothing imo like in older games, maps look like their from a lego Halo. Plus no-splitscreen really hurt the popularity. I probably will not get Halo 6 if there is one. Graphically it's ugly, War Zone has better graphics than Arena but it's boring to me, I'm not a PvP+AI fan.

I was tempted to pick this up for $6 during the red box sale but digital is much better for me. I bought the halo mcc from them and played it 3 times and haven't touched it since lol

Purchased the standard Halo 5 for $16.09 and they sent me the Digital Deluxe Edition code by mistake. Guess I got lucky.
